Capable Canines Cornwall

capable canines cornwall

London

Jackie and Terry Lawer run Capable Canines Cornwall. Terry has a fantastic wealth of knowledge in all things canine, having been involved in dog training for over thirty years. He and Jackie own three Border Collies and a Miniature American Shepherd. Jackie deals with all matters to do with running the business and its administration. She is an Agility Club Approved Instructor, as well as being a qualified teacher, who has taught in Secondary and Adult Education. Jackie currently competes with one of her collies in agility. Tarn is Grade 7: the highest grade achievable in UK. Tarn has competed at two UKA National Finals and Jackie has also competed at a KC ABC (anything but a collie) National Final with her crossbreed, Zeus, many years ago now! She is also bringing on a youngster, due to start competing in Grade 2 shortly. Terry competes with Exe in Grade 4. Both Jackie and Terry have been Agility Judges. Jackie is also a Scentwork UK Judge and Trial Manager, currently working Tarn at Level 5 and Dart at Level 2 in this discipline. Arena We are lucky enough to have the use of an excellent training venue in Shortlanesend. Access is really easy and only takes a few minutes from Truro in the south or the A30 in the north. The venue offers hard-standing for parking and a really large outdoor school. We are told it is 25 x 45 m but it seems even bigger! The surface is a sand and felt mix and stands up very well to all types of weather! TRAINING … Anne and Enid’s lovely dogs at training From different lives and different places We bring different worries and different faces Hard workers and carers, all with jobs to do We converge to one place, one field, one view Bring with us such baggage, crates full of stress Left by the gate, to delight in much less A mismatch of strangers joined now as friends A shared goal and dream, our pathways all blend Dogs at our sides, our hearts filled with joy The world shut out with the first throw of a toy Two hours of US! My identity now found Cheering and laughing at just one turn round A brief moment of calm in the storm of the week A haven, a sanctuary that we all seek Agility just a sport ? A hobby maybe? For us it’s much more, for me – sanity.

Sarah Goss Traditional Woodcarving

sarah goss traditional woodcarving

Radstock

Sarah specialises in providing bespoke hand carved items ranging from lettering and relief decoration to producing architectural details such as corbel brackets and ceiling roses. By adding hand carved decoration, items that are otherwise plain and ordinary are transformed into unique pieces that are personal to the owner. This applies just as much to everyday objects such as chopping boards as to more elaborate ornamental features to decorate the home. Wood carving is incredibly versatile and Sarah can either work from existing designs you may have seen or create a completely new piece for you. As well as producing the initial carved work Sarah can offer a variety of finishes including oil and water gilding using genuine Gold and Silver leaf. Sarah's interest in traditional crafts began whilst studying for A Levels in Art & History of Art at the Royal Latin School, Buckinghamshire. Through understanding how the country's great buildings were built and furnished, along with the reasoning behind their design, she developed an even greater respect for their creators and understood why it is important to maintain these buildings for future generations. From Buckingham she moved to Portsmouth to study a degree in Restoration and Decorative Studies at Portsmouth University. Within her first year she had grasped the basics in a variety of traditional decorative techniques including faux finishing, gilding and scagliola. In her final two years she decided to focus her studies on woodcarving and plasterwork- both in a restorative sense and in creating new designs using traditional materials and methods. During her time at University she was provided with the opportunity to hone her skills in both woodcarving and plasterwork. Her projects included 3-coat lime plastering, using the lime plaster she'd made from scratch using traditional recipes. She researched the historic and almost extinct technique of freehand stucco work, creating her own designs and experimenting with various recipes, including those that were used in the restoration of Uppark in Hampshire. Thankfully all that hard work paid off and she graduated with a 1st Class Honours. Sadly, her year was the last to complete this course as the University decided to end it in back in 2008. From Hampshire she was on the move again, this time to Shropshire where she began work with a heritage company. Here she built upon her project managing skills and learnt more about the structural side of building restoration, particularly timber framed buildings. Whilst she enjoyed her time in Shropshire, she decided that she was much happier in her workshop among the sawdust and plaster, which leads her to her current home back in West Sussex.

Bristol Art For All

bristol art for all

Bristol

My name is Amy Powell and I am a catalyst for reconnecting people with their innate creativity. At Bristol Art For All we facilitate friendly, inclusive learning environments where people can explore their creativity. We started in 2015 running an open access drop in face-to-face community art class in Easton in Bristol. From December 2019 to March 2020 sessions moved to Hamilton House in Stokes Croft Bristol and since April 2020 have been online. Online sessions are run in partnership with local charities as well as sessions open to all adults. Current partners include Age UK and St Mungo’s Recovery College. All online sessions are around a theme selected by the participants, who use the art materials and skills they already have to devise their own projects. Support is on hand to give input on what is made. The sessions act as an online art studio with time for making and opportunities to share and get feedback on artwork. Participants are seen as artists first with the acceptance that we are all on our own life journeys. The focus is on creating learning environments where people enjoy the process of making. With this strong foundation people can have the confidence and resilience to develop further skills. This website gives a taste of the work made over the course of Bristol Art For All. Myself and Rosa Hewitt began Bristol Art For All in 2015. In 2017 Rosa went to the University of Hertfordshire to study Art Therapy. She now works in London as an art therapist with children. I continued with the project in Bristol with the support of volunteers, building my knowledge, experience and skills by studying courses in teaching, facilitation, communication and social enterprise. As well as volunteering with Arts and Health organisations including Studio Upstairs, Bristol Art on Prescription, Workers Education Association (WEA), Milestones Expressions programme and St Mungos Recovery College where I currently run their online art class. I love being a catalyst for people to reconnect with their creativity. It is a great privilege to have worked with over 200 people across Bristol and beyond. Some have attended for years others for one session but all have been welcome and encouraged in their art making. I am currently in the process of making Bristol Art For All into an online art school to reach people who would otherwise struggle to access mainstream arts education. I am interested to connect with organisations, which work with clients who would benefit from exploring and developing their creativity with the support of being in a group.

Begin2sports Group Academy

begin2sports group academy

Wandsworth

Begin2Sports was founded by sports coaching scientist and Commonwealth athlete Addy Mumunie. Born in Nigeria, sports came into her life through the necessity of running to school and back every day. However, it grew into her first love, achieving a regional level by the age of 12-13 and going on to represent Nigeria at Commonwealth/National level. Raising her family in Southwest London, sport and particularly athletics, were the bedrock of her life, raising her three daughters to also include sports into their life. One enjoys recreational sports, and the other two daughters compete as professional athletes at National and International level for England and GB. Coach Addy trained in Sport Coaching Science at St Mary’s University Twickenham. She went on to set up this community interest group (Begin2Sports) in 2017, with the goal to support people from disadvantaged backgrounds through sport and the 7 fundamental key principles of athletics. Coach Addy’s motivation for this project, came from her own humble beginnings. Challenged by Dyslexia, a misunderstood condition in the 1970’s, studying was very difficult. It was an unsupported experience and consequently personal progress was severely inhibited. It was then that she realised that taking part in sports, offered her the freedom, confidence, self-esteem, and self-expression that she needed to help overcome these challenges. Inspiring others to discover the benefits of sport in their lives was the spark that inspired Begin2Sports. At the heart of the group’s purpose is increasing sports participation in the community. We aim to provide individuals at a higher risk of sports deprivation in the London borough of Wandsworth, access to low-cost physical activity & fitness services. Uniquely, we also offer a blended physical and cognitive programme, known as Dysletics and GymLetics, designed specifically for those living with Dyslexia and Dyspraxia. WHO WE ARE We are a community focused organisation, that provide sports-based coaching built on values of OPENNESS, EMPOWERMENT, AND NUTURING. Now Yoga with Sinem

now yoga with sinem

London

My name is Sinem Er. I am practicing yoga since 2005 and sharing my passion since 2010. I teach Asana, Pranayama, Meditation, with a focus on Vinyasa Flow, Hatha and Restorative yoga. I am the founder of Now Yoga Limited UK and I was featured in Linda Sparrowe’s book ‘Yoga At Home – Inspiration for creating your own home practice’ published by Universe Press and Yoga Journal among many other world-renowned yoga teachers. I received my first teacher training certificate from beloved Zeynep Aksoy in 2009, and then in 2010 I met my root teacher Cyndi Lee, the first western female yoga teacher to integrate yoga and Buddhism, the founder of the legendary OM Yoga School and I am her student ever since. In 2018, I had the honor of translating her book ‘Yoga Body, Buddha Mind’into Turkish. What I learned from her radically changed my perspective and my relationship with myself, the world, and the teachings of yoga. As I began to observe myself in the light of Buddhist teachings, my practice has actually become a reminder that everything is interconnected, that everything that happens, everything we do, every word we say is planting a seed and vinyasa is a physical expression of the fact that nothing and no one can exist separately, but that everything is interconnected and interdependent. As an experienced and committed yoga teacher, I am able to assist and inspire others on their yoga journey. My style emphasizes alignment, flow, movement/breath integration and Buddhist meditation principles. My classes are dynamic and contemplative. I believe in the importance of safe and logical sequencing. I have the ability to distill complex postures and teach them as accessible building blocks for yogis of all backgrounds. In 2014, I started to lead Yoga Alliance USA Approved 200-hour Teacher Training Programs and Continuing Education Programs on yoga and meditation. For many years, I taught group classes at best yoga schools of Turkey, such as Cihangir Yoga and Nefess Yoga. Since 2014, I am teaching Yoga Alliance approved 200-hour Foundational Teacher Trainings, as well as taking part in the teaching faculty of 300-hour programs of Nefess Yoga, İzmir Yoga and Githa Satya Yoga. I am recording online classes and training programs for YogaUni since 2018. I organize yoga retreats at magical locations in Turkey. With the pandemic, I also started to offer my trainings and classes ONLINE. Sharing the teachings of yoga with you is a continuous learning and discovery process for me. I am looking forward to practice together.

We ,Syeda Zainab Trust community organisation that has been at the forefront of the economic development, training and career advancement of people from local communities with particular focus on employment support for the marginalised communities. Aim to benefit adults and children and their families every year, through live welfare projects on education, healthcare, livelihood and women empowerment, aim to driven in over many remote villages and slums across the world. Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life: the means because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one's awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behaviour to understanding one's rights – and in the process help him/her evolve as a better citizen. Syeda Zainab Trust ,a registered charity company (Charity no.1185836) in the United Kingdom, provides education and training to children and adults , Our projects presently help and support in India to Zainab Educational and Welfare Society (ZEWS) in Kurnool district,Andhra ,India providing free education to poor children. We are now aiming to expand our support to most deserving people around the world. Aim to benefit adults and children and their families every year, through live welfare projects on education, healthcare, livelihood and women empowerment, aim to driven in over many remote villages and slums across India. Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life: the means because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one's awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behaviour to understanding one's rights – and in the process help him/her evolve as a better citizen. Doubtless, education is the most powerful catalyst for social transformation. But child education cannot be done in isolation. A child will go to school only if the family, particularly the mother, is assured of healthcare and empowered. Moreover, when an elder sibling is relevantly skilled to be employable and begins earning, the journey of empowerment continues beyond the present generation. Realizing this, Syeda Zainab Trust, beginning in the corridors of education, adopted a lifecycle approach of development, focusing its interventions on children, their families and the larger community. Syeda Zainab Trust believes that unless members of the civil society are involved proactively in the process of development, sustainable change will not happen. Following this model of Civic Driven Change, Syeda Zainab Trust sensitizes and engages the civil society, making it an active partner in all its welfare initiatives.

Future Path Life Coaching

Being a Mum is a constant assault on all your senses – physically and mentally demanding from the very start to the very end of each day. To see our families work well, we need to be operating at our very best, feeling energised and equipped to flourish. My name is Jackie Meek and I am a qualified Life Coach. I love meeting new people and helping Mums to respond to life’s challenges with a positive rather than negative mindset. I am passionate about the impact coaching conversations can have, helping mums to build healthy family foundations and home environments. I am committed to enabling Mums to function to the best of their ability and seeing them thrive as powerful leaders in their family units. I love being a Mum, but it has come with its challenges. I have two precious children, born in 2008 and 2010, but I have a difficult birthing story, including experiencing giving birth extremely prematurely, the loss of a baby and I have also experienced post-partum psychosis and post-natal depression. My career, starting in 1990, has spanned a variety of commercial and not for profit organisations, primarily working in recruitment, HR, administration and finance. In 2014, once both my children were both at school, I undertook a series of life coaching sessions which resulted in a dramatic improvement in the quality of my relationship with my husband – and it was me who changed, not him! My life coaching sessions were inspiring and empowering and left me feeling energised and equipped to flourish in my role as a mother, wife, daughter and friend. I decided to build on my people skills, developed over the last 25+ years, by training to become a qualified life coach and undertook a course with Full Circle Development in London. I qualified in March 2016 with a Certificate in Professional Coaching Practice and I am an Associate Certified Coach through the International Coaching Federation. I love the privilege of having personal conversations with my clients and enabling sustainable change to take place. Spending quality time with my family is a high priority for me and as a family we love to ride off-road motorbikes and go motor racing together. In my spare time I enjoy horse riding and you’ll find me at my happiest surrounded by my family and friends. I love being organised and creative and running Future Path Life Coaching ticks those boxes. I am good at building relationships quickly and am open, friendly, calm and confident.
