Coconut Thinking is an advisory that supports schools and learning organizations nurture ecosystems grounded in relationships that contribute to the thriving of the bio-collective—any living thing that has an interest in the healthfulness of the planet. We help you create, develop, stress test, and implement their ideas for sustainable and regenerative learning design. In other words, we work alongside you to shift your learning ecosystem, and the experiences within it, toward life-affirming practices. This might include: designing and leading workshops; creating and implementing professional development initiatives; serving as a critical friend on projects, initiatives, and plans; collaborating on endeavors that liberate learning; bouncing ideas about what might just be possible; and anything else that takes us toward more regenerative ways of becoming. We also connect schools with practitioners, artists, and industry experts to create collaborative spaces that respond to contextual challenges: learning together through contribution to the bio-collective, shoulder to shoulder across generations. What happens when we prioritize relationships among all living things? We believe learning is more than a twelve-year individual journey in educational institutions, more than something that can be measured, standardized, sorted, and labeled. We believe in learning for and as the bio-collective, recognizing that we are interconnected and that nothing exists in isolation. We don’t want to overthrow the system, we want to work with those who can imagine something else is possible. We ask ourselves one guiding question: How do our responses contribute to the thriving of the bio-collective? In our view, learning is not an end in itself. Learning is a process that happens when one experience changes behavior in a subsequent experience, behavior that is expressed in the form of responses to our dynamic contexts. We all go through low points at times in our lives and it is not unusual to experience symptoms related to stress, anxiety and depression. Merton Uplift is an integrated Primary Care Mental Health service accessible to anyone living in the borough of Merton or registered with a Merton GP who are 18 years and over. We support anyone who has a mental health or wellbeing need, whether this is due to emotional difficulties or life stressors. We also offer a service for people with a stable mental health diagnosis such as psychosis and Bipolar Affective disorder. Merton Uplift is a partnership between the NHS and local voluntary sector organisations and launched on the 1st April 2019. With values based on empowerment and building resilience within the community we tailor support to the individual. Wellbeing is core to our service with Wellbeing Navigators working in collaboration with all elements within Merton Uplift. We can support your mental health and wellbeing needs through a number of ways including: Self management courses Psychological therapies Psychiatric assessments Recovery and Wellbeing support Liaison with other Trust services: There will be seamless liaison with, and transfer of service user care to secondary care mental health services run by the Trust from Merton Uplift if clinical risk requires this. This pathway will be managed through daily interface meetings between Merton Uplift and the Merton Assessment Team. The purpose of meditation is to make our mind calm and peaceful. If our mind is peaceful we shall be free from worries and mental discomfort, and so we shall experience true happiness. By training in meditation we can gradually learn to stay peaceful all the time, even in the most difficult circumstances. If we practice meditation we will experience a calm, spacious feeling in the mind, and many of our usual problems will fall away. Helping People Find Their Breath, So They Can Thrive I am proud and honoured to be a known voice on Mindfulness in South West London. Over the last seven years I have dedicated my focus and energy to bringing this important life skill, centred around your breath as a tool for stress relief, with self-love as a necessary foundation, to over 6000 children, teens and adults in schools and the workplace. Having re-designed my life after ‘finding’ my breath, I am committed to teaching others to find theirs too, so they can thrive. After 20 years working in Human Resources, Design and Education, my life pivoted beyond my dreams. While living as a single mother of three teens and a dementia carer, I have dedicated my time to championing mental health and wellbeing education and tools for everyone aged 7 to 70. In 2014 these same tools enabled me to transform the challenge of divorce into a force for my happiness, as well as a way to make an impact on the lives of others. By bringing the power of Mindfulness to children and adults, I have offered them a support in everyday life, and enabled them to embrace plan B with compassion, when things fall apart a little. Plan B CAN be the life WE want to lead. How has Mindfulness helped me, my family and my career? Life presents us with challenge after challenge, each an opportunity to learn and grow … if you are in the right headspace when they show up. Whether you are finding 11+ and raising teens hard, or have lost or fallen out of love with your job, or your marriage is on the rocks, or your health or that of a loved one takes a turn for the worse … all of these are manageable, and can actually be transformative, if we have the confidence and skills to deal with them.
