Paddington Academy is an Outstanding, non-selective academy in inner West London with 1,200 students from ages 11-18. As part of United Learning, our aim is to bring out ‘the best in everyone’ and we continuously strive to ensure that students and staff here have every opportunity to do so. We have both worked here since the school opened in 2006 and so we know what a truly amazing experience it is to be part of the Paddington Academy community. Artist Bill Campbell arrived at Islington Mill in 1996, hiring a studio space in the partially-abandoned mill building that he saw every day across the road from his flat. Soon after arrival he invited other artists to join him and they began to host the first artist happenings. Islington Mill Arts Club as we know it was established in the year 2000 when Bill was able to purchase the whole of our listed building. He commenced a gradual programme of renovation, resulting in artist studios across four floors of the building, plus a large open space on the fifth floor and an atmospheric attic space on the sixth. Read more about our heritage here. We are now home to over 100 resident artists and collectives in the main mill building and adjacent engine houses. Following our successful capital build programme, and a fruitful partnership with Salford City Council, Islington Mill Arts Club now operates Regent Trading Estate, an adjacent plot of former industrial land where we have established new artist studios in former warehouse spaces, plus event spaces and a community garden. The Mill has always been a vibrant and resourceful cross-disciplinary creative network; a space where conversations leads to connections, collaboration and co-creation. Over the years our collaborative exploratory style has made our studios into a focal point for the north-west’s arts community, as well as visiting international artists and exchanges.

Writhlington School is a secondary school for pupils aged 11–18 in Writhlington, Bath and North East Somerset, England. It is the main secondary school in the Radstock area, providing further education to local children and some pupils who live outside the catchment area. The school became an academy in October 2011

pocklington school

Pocklington School was founded in 1514 by lawyer and clergyman John Dolman, a visionary who understood the transformative value of education. He established a guild in the local parish that gave support to the poor and also provided a school to educate and help local children forge a better life for themselves. Steeped in the values of courage, truth and trust, our school has continued those philanthropic aims and inspired lives for over 500 years. Pocklington School has remained on its West Green site since its foundation. Pocklington Prep School was previously known as Lyndhurst School, the name of a large house on the Bridlington Road bought by Pocklington School in 1947 as a junior boarding house. By 1950 it had evolved into a junior school in its own right, with its own staff and three classrooms. Over time further changes were made: day pupils joined the boarders, girls were admitted for the first time in 1988, and in 1992 Lyndhurst School moved to its present site on the Pocklington School campus. It was re-named Pocklington Prep School in September 2014 and its Pre-Prep section now welcomes children from the age of 3. Boarding is still central to the life of the community, where we have boarders from 9 years old through to 18.
