Working with children is both a privilege and a responsibility. We all want the young people in our care to engage with learning and thrive in our settings, but children often spend large parts of their school day learning indoors. They are also spending more of their free time in sedentary or technology-based activities. While there is nothing wrong with these activities in moderation, entire days and weeks spent away from natural environments is known to be detrimental. Children’s brains are hard-wired to connect with the natural world and unless they are exposed to such environments on a regular basis, they risk being denied essential opportunities for optimal neurological development. At Cambium Sustainable we are passionate about getting children and educators outdoors and engaging in high-quality programmes. We offer a wide range of accredited courses that will enable educators to take learning out of the classroom and into natural environments that have been shown to build children’s self-confidence, emotional literacy, social skills and self-esteem. Cambium Sustainable has been working in outdoor education training for over 20 years and we were one of the first Forest School training organisations established in the UK. Our courses offer progression from level 1 to level 4 and we have the largest network of accredited trainers in the UK, making it easy to access a trainer near you. We are an approved qualifications centre for Agored Cymru and accredited training provider delivering IOL and FSA recognised courses in Forest School, Curriculum Based Outdoor Learning and Coastal School at levels 1, 2, 3 and 4.

My name is Heather Dugdale and I am a local lass who has always loved animals, especially dogs and horses. My Grandfather had a small holding in Kilwinning where he bred Clydesdales and Springer Spaniels, so I think it’s definitely in the genes. After many years of working with the Council as an IT Technician I decided to start studying dog behaviour and science based training in the hope that I could become a Dog Trainer when I retired, lucky enough for me I was given the opportunity to take early release (sounds like a prison sentence!) and follow my passion . In 2017 I gained an Ofqual recognised level 4 Diploma in Canine Behaviour Management and Training from Animal Jobs Direct, and passed an Animal Behaviour and Welfare course from the University of Edinburgh, successfully completed a Dog Emotion and Cognition course with Duke University and went on to assist a fully qualified Kennel Club Instructor with her Canis Dog Training Classes which where invaluable, and gave me the hands on experience I needed to start my own classes. I continued my education and became a member and accredited trainer with the IMDT , having passed my exam with a distinction in 2021. I gained membership of the APDT in June 2023, which is a highly valued organisation in the Professional Dog Training Industry, and with this rigorous exam came the opportunity to be listed on the ABTC register, which is a Council that sets and maintains standards of knowledge and practical skills needed to be an animal trainer, training instructor or animal behaviour therapist and is used by shelters and vets. In the distant future, I hope to become a fully qualified behaviorist and add this to my list of services. Joy Townsend set up A11 Medical Services Ltd after being a volunteer with St John Ambulance for many years, decided to leave there as she no longer liked the new commercial set up, then worked with a Private Ambulance company for about 5 years as a General Manager and decided it was time to go it alone and start this company to help fill a gap within the Event First Aid Medical field & Training. This was becoming apparent with Event Organisers being let down by the ‘bigger’ National providers. So, this was the beginning of A11 Medical Services Ltd in 2019. Joy Townsend Managing Director Emergency Care Assistant (FREC4) with CERAD Qualification / Event First Aider / Trainer / IQA Joy has over 40 years experience in doing first aid and event medical cover across a diverse range of events throughout East Anglia. Examples include Norwich City Football, American Football, Marathons, the Royal Norfolk Show, Boxing, Horse Events of all types, Motor Sport (Bike/Car racing at Snetterton circuit and Motocross), Open Air Concerts and Village Fetes, plus much more. Joy is also an experienced Event Manager/Planner (including organising the levels of medical cover required and liaising with the event organisers & other clinical grades). As well delivering clinical skills at events, Joy has a proven track record in delivering quality training for Event Medical teams, plus first aid training to members of the public and the commercial sector.
