Inclusive Pedals CIC is a social enterprise based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Our four directors run a variety of projects helped by a team of volunteers. We're all keen to expand the range of bikes and promote the use of bicycles as every day transport. Amongst our group we have qualified bike mechanics, British Cycling coaches and experience of working with disabilities. Bikeability instructors from Wheely Fun Wheels help out with some of our sessions too. Our volunteers assist with delivering our community based projects such as adapted cycling, Cycling Without Age and the Community Cycle Club. Many of us are members of Chesterfield Cycle Campaign. Director Alastair Meikle was the winner of the national Modeshift award in 2017 'Individual Contribution to Sustainable Travel' and in 2019 delivered practical training workshops at the national Bikeability conference. Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is one of only three dedicated children’s hospital trusts in the UK and provides integrated healthcare for children and young people, including community and mental health care as well as acute and specialist services. We see children from 0-16 in most cases and in some cases up to 18. We provide a full range of services for residents of Sheffield and South Yorkshire as well as specialised services for patients from across the United Kingdom. Caring for patients across the UK Demand for our services is growing and we are increasingly delivering healthcare to patients over a wider geographical area as our reputation for providing outstanding specialist care grows. We have some of the best medical and surgical services for children in the country. In 2021/22, 210,439 patients attended an outpatient appointment (including over 25% virtual appointments). A further 60,720 children attended A&E. 26,255 Mental Health community contacts were made across the Sheffield region and 23,341 COVID-19 vaccines were provided to protect children, young people and staff. Provider collaborative for CAMHS Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is the NHS Lead Provider for the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw (SYB) Provider Collaborative for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). Provider collaboratives are new regional partnerships of organisations that provide specialised mental health services. These partnerships are being established across England as part of a national programme of work that sees the responsibility for the commissioning of specialised mental health services transfer from the NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSE/I) Specialised Commissioning team to the new regional provider collaboratives. The SYB Provider Collaborative for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) launched on 1 October 2021 and covers the following service areas: General Adolescent and General Adolescent LD Services, Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICU), Specialist CAMHS Eating Disorders Units, CAMHS Low Secure and CAMHS Low Secure LD and Autism/ASC Services. Provider collaboratives comprise all the NHS Trusts and Independent Sector providers responsible for specialist mental health and learning disability and autism services for the population within a specific area. The SYB provider collaborative footprint covers Barnsley, Bassetlaw, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. Our provider partners are Cygnet Hospital Sheffield and Riverdale Grange (eating disorders) who provide CAMHS services alongside the Becton Centre for Children and Young People provided by the Trust. This plan details all the sustainable travel focused work Sheffield Children’s will be doing over the next few years, while on the road to reach our aim of carbon net zero by 2045. Did you know that in 2020/21, visitors travelled almost 5 million miles to our sites in total, with an enormous 72% of those miles in a car? This equates to travelling around the earth 200 times! It is our aim to lower this and reach carbon net zero from patient and visitor related travel by 2045 at the latest. Reducing emissions associated with traveling helps to lower the levels of air pollution in the area. Air pollution has negative impacts on our health, especially impacting children and young people. Amongst our group of instructors we have qualified bike mechanics, ‘Breeze’ leaders, British Cycling coaches and experience of working with disabilities. Our Bikeability instructors also deliver our balance bike programme and adult cycle training. Our sister company Inclusive Pedals CIC is a social enterprise delivering many community cycling initiatives (Dr Bike, Adapted Cycling, Cycling Without Age & 'Couch to 10 Miles') with the same staff involved as well as a team of volunteers. Wheely Fun Wheels Ltd is based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The business is run by Alastair Meikle who was raised in Chesterfield and after leaving school spent 30 years working for the Civil Aviation Authority and National Air Traffic Services. One of a very few people who regularly cycled to work at the London Air Traffic Control Centre! Following his decision to leave air traffic control he spent a year touring Europe in a motorhome with his family and bicycles before relocating back to Chesterfield and starting Wheely Fun Wheels. Alastair was the winner of the national Modeshift award in 2017 'Individual Contribution to Sustainable Travel' and in 2019 delivered practical training workshops at the national Bikeability conference. Whilst we are often on our bikes for our daily transport needs most of us also tour on our bikes, do the occasional race and take part in sportives, one of our instructors organises long distance rides in the Peak District. Jo is a fully qualified Physiotherapist and has been working for over 17 years in the profession treating a variety of patients to include Elite athletes, Professional Ballet dancers, amateur sports participants and the general public with complex pain conditions. She completed the training to become a fully certified Modified Pilates teacher in 2003 with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute. Jo lives with her husband, daughter, their son and a springer spaniel in Barnsley and loves keeping herself fit by attending Bootcamp sessions, personal training and running. She is aiming to do her first half marathon soon. In 2006 Jo set up Flex Pilates, originally teaching classes in North Sheffield. Since then the business has expanded to Leeds and Barnsley with people of all ages and abilities enjoying the benefits of this popular exercise. As well as teaching Pilates classes Jo also works with the APPI as an International Lecturer, teaching other Health Professionals the principles of Pilates teaching, enabling them to take the exercise into their practice. This side of her career has seen her travel to America in 2012 to teach 6 courses to rehabilitation professionals. Jo also travels within the UK, lecturing regularly on 3 different Matwork courses developed by the APPI. Having just had her second child, Jo has added Antenatal and Postnatal rehabilitation Pilates classes to the Flex Pilates' repertoire, teaching mums-to-be and new mums alike. After struggling with a muscle separation (Diastasis Recti) with her pregnancy, Jo used Pilates to re-strengthen her own core with great success. Jo is truly passionate about Pilates and loves the way it can help transform an individual's ability to function on a day-to-day basis.
