ClayKilnCraft is an independent educational and training pottery set in the heart of Crystal Palace, South East London. Started in 2014 by ceramic artist Aliya Rashid giving wheel lessons in her studio for beginners, the company has evolved into a thriving creative space teaching people of all abilities to throw, handbuild and explore their inner artist while improving and building on their skills. After graduating in Ceramics at Camberwell College of Art with a first class honours degree, Aliya fell into teaching by accident after she was recommended by a friend to teach pottery at a centre 
for special needs adults in London. ‘It was a very challenging, but rewarding experience. I came away from that summer project completely humbled. I knew I wanted to do more. ‘It started small, with monthly lessons. When my students wanted more I found space in a basement converted toilet! And yes, it was as grim as it sounds. When it rained the smell was… very pungent! ‘I was thrilled to find the shop I’m in now. It’s taken a lot of hard work to get it to this stage. It’s all been done with sheer hard work, doing two jobs to finance everything. This is an independent studio and I’m determined it should stay that way. The atmosphere is relaxed, fun and supportive whatever my students aims are. The studio is looking fantastic and the facilities improve on a weekly basis. ‘As well as core courses and classes for beginners and intermediates, we now offer open access to people of all abilities. The studio helps people to develop at their own pace to make what interests them whether they are hobby potters and just want to relax after a hard days work or they are serious potters looking to sell or exhibit their work. Powdermills Pottery is housed in granite buildings that were once part of a nineteenth century gunpowder factory. It is found in the very centre of Dartmoor National Park in Devon and is part of the Duchy of Cornwall estate. Powdermills is the home and workplace of potter, Joss Hibbs: her range of pottery is sold in The Shop. Cream teas are served in the courtyard in the Summer season, and Throwing Courses are run year-round. The old workshop has been rejuvenated by local charity Friends of the Dartmoor Hill Pony and now houses the Dartmoor Hill Pony Exhibition, explaining the history and importance of the 'wild' ponies on Dartmoor. Pam Goodison is a glass artist based in Stocksbridge, Sheffield. Her inspiration comes from many sources as she creates and teaches glass artI first learned the techniques of stained glass in 2008 and I have been hooked ever since! I decided to expand my repertoire and this led me to learn the art of kiln formed glass, or glass fusing. I love the way light shines through coloured glass and the amazing unique pieces that can be created. My inspiration comes from many sources and I am always learning new techniques. In January 2014 I started teaching stained glass from my workshop at home. There is a lot of satisfaction to be gained from helping someone create a beautiful piece of glass art. Some items for sale are listed here but many more are shown on my facebook page. I also undertake commissions so if there is something you have in mind please contact me to discuss.

We’re passionate about keeping the craft of ceramics alive. Studio ceramics is coming under increasing threat with its neglect in the education syllabus at primary and secondary levels, whilst further and higher education courses are quietly dropped or subsumed into other disciplines. Our involvement in the promotion of ceramics within education has grown as the need to protect and nurture the subject has intensified. We have an unspoken but deep understanding that we should do everything in our power to promote the role of ceramics in our schools, colleges and universities as well as in the wider community. Potclays Kilns Potclays is a specialist kiln manufacturer and we make a wide variety of high quality electric and gas fired kilns for ceramics and other heat treatment processes. These range in size from around 12 litres (0.4cu.ft) chamber capacity mini-kilns to truck kilns of over 2 cu.metres (70cu.ft) capacity. Many of these are specially built to customers' requirements. We also manufacture elements to fit most makes of kiln. Paint Your Own Pottery Supplies Potclays is one of the largest Paint-Your-Own-Pottery (PYOP) suppliers in the UK and is expanding overseas too. We supply a huge range of brush-on glazes, stains, colours, plaster moulds and bisque ware from several sources including US market leaders such as L&L Kilns, Mayco & Bisque Imports. We also supply a wide range of affordable and high-quality brushes from Mayco and Royal & Langnickel. Our high quality 'Potclays White' casting slip is manufactured at our factory in Stoke-on-Trent. We run PYOP teachers' certification programs and hands-on courses for all skill levels, from beginner to expert. Many of our courses are run with the generous support of Mayco Colors, enabling us to charge low course fees. The Potters Clay and Coal Company The fireclays from our PCC clay mines are exceptionally plastic and also pale-burning. Consequently, they are used in pottery, brick, tile and vitreous china bodies as a part replacement for more expensive ball clays. We also supply sealant clays for lakes and waterways and other civil engeering projects. Our puddle clay was used in the construction of parts of the M6 motorway, notably Spaghetti Junction, and most recently by the Lichfield & Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust.

Wendy has worked with ceramics for over 25years. She loves experimenting with different techniques of firing, especially Horse hair Raku. She also likes to explore different forms and makes both ornamental and utility ware. She has been working with kiln fused glass since 2003. She likes to push the boundaries of what can be achieved producing unique pieces of both decorative and useful items. These could be dishes in a wide variety of sizes and shapes, to wall hangers, making many commission pieces. Philip started woodturning full time in 1986 and attended craft fairs for more then 12 years. After a break he started turning again and moved into a craft unit in Hutton-le-Hole, in 2006 with his wife Wendy, a Glass and Ceramics artist. He was accepted onto the Register of Professional Turners in 2006, this was a very proud moment for him, and showed he had reached a very high standard. Over 60 articles published in GMC Woodturning Magazine Philip likes to work with native timber, sourced from a local timber yard and from tree surgeons; this allows him to choose the way it’s converted to obtain the best figuring. Philip work ranges from utility ware to works of art. He produces small to large items which he sells at the shop. along with his workshop.

SOPHIE RAE IS A MURAL ARTIST WORKING PREDOMINANTLY IN BRISTOL, LONDON + THE SOUTH WEST SPECIALISING IN BOLD, COLOURFUL, BOTANICAL, ABSTRACT DESIGNS Sophie Rae loves gliding a paintbrush across a smooth surface, transforming bland grey walls into beautiful works of art. It is truly where she gets in the flow. She loves working on walls outside and in, large scale murals as well as smaller ones. She’s painted murals in gardens, cafes, bars, restaurants, offices, schools, shop and high street facades and hoardings, to name a few. Drawing inspiration from plants (glorious plants) and enlarging, and playing with abstraction until a sweet balanced composition emerges. As well as mural painting Sophie creates beautiful prints, lovingly handcrafted, without using a press. Shapes are sketched and refined, then cut by hand with a craft knife into stencils. A roller then applies ink in the gaps. This helps give each print its irregularities. If you’re after learning from Sophie Rae she can be found sharing her unique printing technique, inspiring and igniting creativity through (fairly) regularly teaching workshops.
