MEET KERRIE Hello! I believe in living a life full of joy, laughter, gratitude, and free of judgement. These feelings guide my teaching and practice, which is focused on nurturing students to help them better connect to themselves and to bring about a sense of balance and peace. I have been practicing meditation since a young girl taught by my mother and later as an adult practicing yoga asana too, with many brilliant teachers. My initial Hatha Yoga teacher training (200 hours) was with Daizan Roshi, a Zen Master and monk in the rigorous Rinzai tradition of Zen. He studied with the forefather of Ashtanga Yoga, Sri Pattabhi Jois in India. This Zen focus means mindfulness is at the heart of my practice, developing focus, awareness and suppleness on all levels. Training was immersive; away from modern life and the outside world. Starting each day at sunrise and finishing after dark, it was intense, inspirational and totally life changing. Training covered alignment, asana, meditation, breath-work, anatomy, philosophy and Zen. My passion for sharing yoga has led to further training in pregnancy and baby yoga (85 hours), restorative Yoga Nidra (40 hours) and Yin Yoga (130 hours; trained with the amazing Bernie Clark!). Most recently I have become certified to work in the areas of therapeutic yoga for cancer care, aligned to the British Society of Integrative Oncology and have also taken part in 'strong throughout menopause' education. Additionally, I have completed advanced training, over a number of years this included the art of sequencing, of adjustments and the subtle body including; Chakras, Bandhas and Prana (500 hours). I also have over 3000 hours teaching experience and am registered with the professional governing body, Yoga Alliance, as a senior designated experienced teacher. I have also had the privilege of staying at Plum Village in France to practice and study Zen and Mindfulness under the teachings of world renowned Zen Master and global peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh. An absolutely incredible experience and such beautiful teachings, that I continue to share with anyone that will listen! My other life passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have spent time exploring India, Japan, Thailand, Borneo, Indonesia, Hawaii, Malaysia, Mexico, Canada, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Europe and many other beautiful places. I bring together and share my experiences of yoga from those places too.

The School aims to cater for everyone. Children are accepted from the age of three years, and we provide classes for all ages, including adults. Children can train in ballet, modern theatre dance, tap and (when they are a little older) jazz, musical theatre, commercial jazz and contemporary dance. Adults, too, can attend ballet and tap. The majority of our students want to dance for sheer pleasure, some will want to work towards examinations and others may want to make dancing their career. Whatever their aims we give them every encouragement to achieve them. Dancing should be fun! Our first priority is that students enjoy themselves, safely and under the eye of experienced teachers. But dancing also provides other benefits: exercise and an improvement in posture and co-ordination; development of confidence and social skills; musical and artistic appreciation; the cultivation of imagination, to mention a just a few. All of our teachers have been through Enhanced DBS checks. Most of our teachers are qualified with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and those who are working towards their teaching qualifications are regularly monitored. All are enthusiastic and work hard to ensure that a high standard of teaching is maintained at all levels. Firstly, let me welcome you to Bespoke Educational Services. As a teacher with almost twenty years of classroom experience, I am well placed to assist you in fulfilling your potential. I taught, for extensive periods, in all areas of the primary sector before moving into secondary education and middle-management. At each stage, I was placed in key areas of the school, to aid transition, from EYFS all the way up to A-level - particularly looking at entrance to Russell Group universities and Oxbridge. For me, the importance of teaching is to ensure that the teacher is responsive to the needs of the pupil; you cannot fit square pegs into round holes! Too often, teachers rely on text books or expecting the pupils to adhere to their methods - I believe that this is wrong. An outstanding practitioner will flip this mentality and become the one who reacts and responds to their learners' needs. Salto is a vibrant and active centre, over 2000 people use our facility every week through schools, parent and toddlers, classes and squads. We are proud to have over 1200 current British Gymnastics members and 50 members of Gymnastics Ireland regularly using our facilities. Through our range of programmes we offer gymnastics activity for everyone. We have created opportunities for our performance gymnasts to move into the Salto Gymfusion display team, sports acrobatics or undertake level 1 coaching awards. This ensures our gymnasts can make smooth transitions from one discipline to another at the same facility within the same gymnastics family. Our Elite WAG and MAG squads have the opportunity to be selected for Celtic Cup, Northern Europeans, Europeans, Worlds, Youth Olympics, UKSG and Commonwealth Games. We are the only gym club in Northern Ireland to be represented at all these events. We have an excellent relationship with our local City Council in Lisburn who provided the land for the facility and were instrumental in our bid to become an Olympic Training camp. Our Club won the Lisburn Sports Club of the year in 2011. In addition to our satellite clubs in the local primary schools, we have excellent links with many schools in NI with 25 schools regularly taking part in gymnastics classes at Salto throughout each week of the school year. In addition we work with local education providers (FE and HE) in the provision of training, coach mentoring, employment and work experience for their students.
