After traveling seven seas, both geographically and professionally, Mairi started running Yoga with Mairi classes in central Scotland, in 2018, gradually growing a small but inclusive community of dedicated Hatha Yoga practitioners. Now getting close to 1000 of teaching hours delivered. Mairi started practicing Hatha Yoga 20 years ago, and had an honour to learn from many amazing teachers across the world. Her practice was, however, particularly influenced by the Bihar and Hridaya schools of Yoga, and this orientation led her to discover the Akasha Yoga Academy (Bali/Thailand), where she completed her 200hrs Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in 2017. Mairi also holds a First Class Certificate in Philosophy of Yoga, from Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies affiliated to the University of Oxford (2016). Besides that, and somewhat relevant to her teaching, Mairi holds a continental MD qualification from her first degree, and she is a Master of Science in social medicine from her second degree. She also holds a postgraduate qualification in Cultural and Gender Studies. Since her first qualification from the School of Medicine at the University of Belgrade (Serbia), and until recently, Mairi was an academic researcher in social medicine and medical sociology, and for some time, also a lecturer. She was specialising in qualitative research and understanding health and access to healthcare, with a particular interest in complexity theory, holistic health & integrative healthcare. Life and experience taught me that it is never too late to take a leap of faith, change direction, retrain and really start enjoying what you do for a living. After starting full time work at the tender age of 16 and after many years of working in finance, support roles and for large organisations, although this provided me with an excellent foundation in customer services and organisational skills, I decided to eventually take the brave step of retraining whilst on maternity leave, to become a self-employed Lash Artist and Educator and I’ve never looked back. Juggling college life as a mature student whilst raising two small children wasn’t easy to begin with, but with support and patience it has given me the freedom to run my own diary, choose my working patterns and still be there for my family and children. There have been amazing times, some tears and frustrations, but it has given me a sense of achievement and determination to inspire others on their career path, be that part time, as a side-line or full-time career choice. Students come to me from all ages and varied career paths, often with little or no experience and I welcome every single one with enthusiasm, a passion to inspire, encourage and support them on their journey from complete beginner to expert lash and brow artist. Back in the mid 1990’s I finally took up yoga, after being interested since my teens. From the very first session I loved it. As a busy Registered Nurse and mum to two youngsters at the time, I found the relaxation I felt by the end of the class to be the highlight of my week. I initially took up the practice as I had a very painful neck following a car accident. Two years of physiotherapy and pain medication had not helped very much, but yoga did. I then moved from Australia back to the UK. Although I loved my nursing work on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, I needed something for me. At that time there were very few yoga classes around, all in gyms and not really offering what I had experienced in my classes in Australia. I embarked on a 2-year yoga teaching training course at the Yoga for Health Foundation (now the Yoga for Health Foundation), enjoying residential training weekends. I loved the way we were taught, with the emphasis on what yoga could do for our health in all respects. This has vastly inspired the way I teach to this day. I feel that my nursing background is a real help in this regard too. I have since completed many yoga trainings, including the British Wheel of Yoga Diploma, and specialised Menopause Yoga training.

His Grandfather Moffat bred MacMoffat, who was twice 2nd in the Grand National, and successfully trained and rode many horses in point to points and on the course. His father David also rode successfully in point to points and trained many winners on the course including Half Awake who won the first running of the Greenalls Whiteley Gold Cup at Haydock in 1969 and trained Border Rag who was 2nd at the Cheltenham festival.Before training horses Sandy had a successful rugby career winning the Scottish Championship with Kelso, playing for the South of Scotland on numerous occasions including games against the All Blacks and Australia, and representing Scotland B. He rode in a few point to points but rugby and racing did not mix. Sandy has always farmed at Lambden, but once his rugby days came to an end horses became an even bigger part of his life. Having successfully trained some homebred point to pointers and having had a few winners under Permit, Sandy took out a full license in 2012. His first big win was in 2013 when Netminder won the Wetherbys £60,000 Novice Chase at Ayr on Scottish Grand National Day. With a 17% strike rate over the past three years, Sandy boasts one of the best strike rates in Scotland. He puts his success down to individual attention, hard work and the invaluable support from the Sandy Thomson Racing team.
