Women’s Aid is the lead voluntary organisation in Northern Ireland addressing domestic abuse and providing services for women and children. The Women’s Aid movement in Northern Ireland began in 1975 and is made up of eight local Women’s Aid groups and Women’s Aid Federation. Each Women’s Aid group offers a range of specialist services to women, children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse. They are all members of Women’s Aid Federation Northern Ireland. Our mission Women’s Aid exists to challenge attitudes, structures and systems which perpetuate domestic abuse. We seek through our work to enable women, children and young people to live free from violence and abuse. Our core aims We will work collectively across Northern Ireland to: engage with women, children and young people, to give them a voice and ensure they inform all aspects of service development and delivery. provide trauma informed support services to women, children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse. deliver preventative education programmes in schools and community settings to promote healthy non-abusive relationships and share key safeguarding messages. educate and inform the public, private, voluntary, statutory and community sectors of the context and impact of domestic abuse. provide quality assured education and training to a wide audience, to increase capacity to respond to domestic abuse. monitor, influence and respond to government policy and legislation as a Subject Matter Expert, giving a voice to survivors of domestic abuse. work in partnership, sharing our expertise with all relevant agencies to ensure a joined-up response to domestic abuse.

Ekcen Training is both a career and job focused Centre that runs a number of programmes to assist various categories of clients, from the highly professional to those with low to medium educational attainment to develop skills to enable them to access a spectrum of work, retain job and career opportunities. We are particularly adept at assisting clients with compound needs; including those first languages is not English, to develop basic functional skills to enable them to become active members of a civil society. Our staffs also have a unique understanding of how to support clients from deprived socio – economic neighbourhoods to become more confident about achieving positive life outcomes. Our Training and Capacity Building Programmes We run a menu of training and capacity building courses including: Early Years Educators, Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools, Health & Social Care Diploma, Functional Skills Entry Level 1 to Level 2 (English, Maths & ICT); New TAQA (Assessor & Internal Quality Assurance Award), Teacher Training (AET / CET / DET). We also run courses on confidence building and work preparation. We have track records of several successful EQA visits testifying to the quality of the support we give to our learners, quality of their work and the skills & knowledge of our Tutors/Assessors/Internal Verifiers. We are particularly proud of our success rate with clients undertaking training in courses relating to children and young people’s workforce and teaching assistant courses where over 90% of those who undertook this training obtained employment either during or on completion of the course.

Michelle Cade (Mind Like Water) is a sound therapist, Ayurvedic massage therapist and music producer who specialises in nourishing and relaxing experiences. She uses a blend of techniques embracing sound, scent, lighting and natural beauty as part of her holistic approach. She offers massage and sound treatments from her studio in Seven Sisters and at The Refinery, recently featured as one of Condé Nast’s Best Yoga Studios in East London. She also offers Sound Journeys at The Refinery every Saturday which are relaxing and powerful experiences of sound healing, breath and voice work. Michelle uses a variety of instruments including Tibetan singing bowls, rain sticks, an ocean drum, buffalo drum, steel tongue drum, tuning forks & more. Soothing therapeutic-grade essential oils are used to awaken the senses and promote an overall sense of balance and restoration.

The charity originally called South Cumbria Rape and Abuse Service (SCRAS), was established by Christine Birchall in 1991 as a community response to the lack of support for rape and sexual abuse victims in the local area. It originally operated as an entirely volunteer based organisation supported by community fundraising. The organisation has successfully developed into an established service provider, whilst still retaining its original ethos and local identity. All of our staff are qualified to the relevant level and counsellors are registered with BACP/BAPT – if required clients can request to view training certificates or accreditation awards to verify competency. We are a registered charity (number: 1109637), and a company limited by guarantee (number: 5424196) ●We provide face to face and remote trauma informed counselling services ● We deliver play therapy, creative and sand tray therapy for children aged 4 and above ●We offer pre-trial therapy sessions to adults and children whilst involved in the criminal justice process ●We work with parents, carers, families, and friends of people affected by rape, sexual abuse, or sexualised violence ●We hold groups, peer support sessions and offer outdoor therapies ●We deliver educational programmes, training, and consultancy to other agencies – voluntary and statutory ●We have online digital information and resources ●We raise awareness of the wider issues around rape, sexual abuse, or sexualised violence within our community
