Every child deserves the chance to have a rich and fulfilling future full of choice and excitement. Often, anxieties make even the most simple things difficult. From not attending school, to not being able to leave the house: all result in a situation where children feel they cannot cope and function. They are overwhelmed and ,despite help and support, feel that they cannot move forwards. School, college and a career becomes a distant, impossible dream for both parent and child, and the focus of each day is to just 'get through it'. For a parent it's devastating to watch your child, who should be smiling, under the bedcovers shaking. This is reality. If you are reading this and it resonates, we can help. Fast Progress Tuition (FPT) is a specialist unregistered Alternative Provision for children who suffer from Emotionally-Based School Absence (EBSA). We build confidence, self-esteem and resilience in a controlled educational setting meaning that secondary complications of EBSA are prevented: education is not compromised and our students are able to take huge steps forward in both social and academic environments. Every child who attends FPT has a different academic pathway and social goals, all of which are developed in parallel with each other, resulting in a child who is active, confident and feels like they can achieve in different environments. FPT are on the Alternative Provision Directory for both Essex County Council and Southend Council.

Thank you for visiting our website. This page is to help you understand a little more about our background and ethics. As the Managing Director & Lead Trainer of 1st ACT Ltd, my role is to co-ordinate the training, the syllabuses, the trainers and the venues to make your experience the best it can be. We've made changes over the last 10 years, all based on client feedback. My personal First Aid background goes back to 1990, when I joined the British Army and was being trained and fully prepared to serve in the golf war. First Aid is obviously a priority for all our military personnel, but when you feel it could be needed soon, it definitely makes you sit up and listen. At least it did with me, so much so that I wanted to know more and more about the amazing human body. After leaving the forces it appeared to me, to be a natural progression to enter into the Emergency Services, so after a few years with Wiltshire Fire Brigade I moved onto London Fire Brigade in 2000. With our First Aid knowledge and some with training backgrounds, my colleagues and I were asked to assess and then train First Aid for a few large companies based around the South East of England. I setup and established 1st ACT in April 2007 (becoming a Limited Company in April 2015) with the aim of making life saving skills affordable to all without dropping any of the high standards often found in larger organisations. With 1st ACT Ltd you still get the same wealth of experience and high level of training but at prices our competitors simply cannot come close to on Ofqual regulated courses!

Ofsteds new judgement are personal development will focus on how you promote children’s personal development. Inspectors will use their professional judgement to consider the effectiveness of your provision on children’s all-round development. So… How do you: 👉 Enable children to be increasingly independent? 👉 Prepare children for life in modern Britain through the development in their understanding of fundamental British Values? 👉 Enable children to form secure attachments? 👉 Foster and nurture a sense of belonging? 👉 Expand children’s vocabulary to enable them to vocalise or communicate their thoughts and ideas? 👉 Create opportunities for children to manage risk? 👉 Encourage children to reflect on their differences and understand what makes them unique? The New Education Inspection Framework places a greater emphasis on care practices and children’s independence within this area. 👏 Also within personal development comes the importance of sharing information with children around the dangers of the internet and how children can keep themselves safe.👏 Also Ofsted’s phrase ‘prepare children for life in modern Britain’ brings into play the importance of British values. The key pillars of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect for those of different faiths, needs to be evident within your practice. Leaders must ensure that the approach taken has meaning and relevance for children of different ages and is not just seen as a tick box exercise.
