Founded in 1983, and a registered charity since 2012, the group has bases in both Nottingham and Manchester. At the Television Workshop we look for the individuality in every young person that we train. Our students are authentic. We don’t want you to recognise a Television Workshop student because they are all the same. We want you to know that they are hardworking, truthful in their performance and willing to listen, learn and deliver. Over the years a number of our students have gone on to great success in the industry. We have award winning actors, writers and directors as well as editors and production crew. Many others go on to successful careers outside of the industry, working in everything from construction to medicine. We’re incredibly proud of all of them and they all carry a little bit of Workshop magic into everything they do. As a charity, The Television Workshop is able to keep fees affordable and offer places purely on the basis of talent.

Visitors welcome.Welcome to The Players Club Situated just one mile from junction 18 of the M4 (Bristol/Bath) on the outskirts of Bristol bordering Wiltshire and Gloucestershire ‘The Players Club’ is dedicated to the game of golf. With two 18 hole courses, a 9 hole Par 3 course and together with first class practice facilities it has become home to many golf professionals competing on the European tours. We have staged 9 SKY televised Europro events, 12 Stage 1 Europro Q School, 7 West Region PGA championships and 3 English Over 48s championship as well as regional finals for many top amateur and professional events. In 2022 we hosted stage 1 of the DP World Tour Q-School for the third time. The club opened in 2002 and was quickly ranked 113 in the Golf World 2006 ‘Best Courses in Great Britain and Ireland’. All the courses have been built to the finest specifications with USGA greens, fairway irrigation and a rich landscape with woodland, lakes and gorse all coming into play. The courses are designed by Adrian Stiff who also designed highly rated neighbours, Cumberwell Park and The Kendleshire. It’s flagship Codrington course, is designed to test you, thrill you and frustrate in equal measure, with the Stranahan course requiring positional play and is ideal for higher handicappers, ladies and seniors. If you like to practice in addition to a 9 hole par 3 course we have a 300 yard range with 40,000 squared metres of teeing grassed teeing area. Short game area, 4 practice putting greens and a ‘Repeater’ facility to test your repeat performance with the wedge.

I started life as a primary class teacher with a scraped Grade VII piano and ‘O’ Level music as my only musical background. I was soon given the task of teaching music throughout a school of 4-8 year olds and realised I did not have the skills or knowledge to be able to do this effectively. My wise headteacher sent me on a Kodály course and my world started to change… Now, after many years of learning from amazing teachers, I am passionate about this wonderful, structured, joyful way to teach and to learn musical skills, knowledge and understanding – it is my raison d’être! I grew up with the unshakeable belief that I was ‘not musical’ – because I was never a good pianist, I couldn’t do aural tests, or sight-sing, or write a dictation; theory never made much sense to me. I perceived that ‘performance’, ‘aural’ and ‘theory’ were three separate entities. It was only Kodály study that made me realise that they are all interconnected and also part of this whole wonderful thing called ‘music’. It also unlocked all the music that was inside me and which I never knew was there. My passion is bringing musical skills, knowledge and understanding to a huge variety of people – to children; to adults who are both professional or amateur musicians; to both specialist and generalist teachers. I have realised that Kodály musicianship has so much to offer a vast range of people, including choral singers, class teachers and professional players. A particular interest in recent years has been discovering the benefits of Kodály musicianship to those working in different styles and genres, including pop, electronic music and modern a cappella singing.
