Our Mission With safeguarding at the heart of all we do, DeafKidz International aims to respond comprehensively to the protection, health, wellbeing and access to education needs of deaf children, young people and adults worldwide. Why our work is needed Deafness is the third largest disability globally with 466 million deaf people worldwide yet it remains the least resourced. The abuse and exploitation of deaf children is endemic, with deaf children three times more likely to be abused than hearing children, but safeguarding and protection networks lack the means to support deaf survivors/victims of abuse and deaf children at risk. Deaf children face barriers to accessing services and support from teachers, social workers, police workers, medical staff and the justice system, often due to the lack of deaf awareness and resources available to these professionals who are unable to effectively communicate with or support the needs of deaf children. In low-middle income countries often children are not even diagnosed as being deaf which exacerbates risk of abuse and prevents them from accessing vital support they need. DeafKidz International seeks to address the vital gaps in meeting the safeguarding and protection needs of deaf children and reducing risk and vulnerability while supporting deaf children, young people and adults to lead their fullest lives ensuring equal and rightful access to health, education and employment as their hearing peers.

WELCOME TO THE CLIMBING ACADEMY Our passion for climbing has inspired us to develop climbing walls that enable anyone and everyone to access the sport and develop the next generation of climbers. The Climbing Academy started in Bristol in 2008 when The Mothership opened. We delivered on our vision to build a bouldering wall that would appeal to as many people as possible, giving them the opportunity to take part in what we think is the best sport in the world. Soon after, we opened The Newsroom in Glasgow – based in an old newspaper printing works – bringing the city its first dedicated bouldering centre. In more recent years we took over Undercover Rock AKA The Church, Bristol’s original roped wall in St Werburghs. In late Autumn 2018, we opened a brand new climbing centre in Glasgow. The Prop Store came to life in an old BBC prop store and offers both bouldering and roped climbing. All of our climbing walls offer the very best in climbing facilities and courses, designed for climbers of all abilities. Our staff are always on-hand to offer advice to help you get the very best out of your experience climbing. Mindfulness is not a difficult and complicated concept. It is an accessible life-long personal skill. If you master it - it stays with you for your whole life. And is completely free to practise it - you do not require any equipment or special settings. Hi, my name is Theya and I prefer to present myself as a mindfulness guide. I prefer to say that I am not teaching you mindfulness, but I am guiding you, as mindfulness is as unique as everybody is. My own journey to become a mindfulness guide My own journey as a mindfulness guide started two years ago when a friend sent me a small picture with colourful circles and the unknown word “IKIGAI” in the middle. It made me think and for the first time fully understand how I would like my professional career to look like and to fit in my whole life. Then a question came: What should I do exactly to fulfil those ideal pictures? At this time I was part time Forest School practitioner in a London primary school, casual outdoor educator at WWT London Wetland centre, volunteer urban gardener and full time mum… My clear inner vision is that being a mindfulness guide is my IKIGAI – the combination of something I love, something the world needs, something that resonates well with my values, skills and personality and possibly something that I can be good in. Mindfulness has changed my own life for good and that is where my inspirations came to share it with others.
