Derby

Our Vision is Learning for a Better World. Our Mission is to bring about personal, local and global change for a fairer, greener, more sustainable world. Our Approach is Connect, Challenge, Change. Global Education Derby projects are distinctive in that they create awareness of the possibility of change and give people the skills to bring about change at personal, local and global levels. Participants gain self-esteem and a sense of place and belonging as well as teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills. The local community gains from a reduction in negative stereotyping and improved cohesion. Global learning produces greater awareness of the wider world and active support for the fight against global poverty. Global Education Derby (GED) is a registered charity based in Derby, established in 1991. As a Development Education Centre we are an independent, affiliated member of the Consortium of Development Education Centres (CoDEC) www.codec.org.uk/. We support schools and communities, locally and internationally, to nurture values and critical thinking skills needed to promote personal, local and global change. We have over 30 years of experience collaborating with organisations, teachers, youth workers and community educators to make sense of a complex and rapidly changing world. The learning methodologies that lie at the centre of our approach always: Produce a more outward looking mindset through exposure to global contexts and multiple perspectives. Develop creative and critical thinking. Increase self-awareness through reflexive questioning of values and ideas. Give the confidence and skills to take positive action.

We're asking your thoughts on draft neighbourhood plans for Twyford and Finchampstead, which will help to shape development in these parishes, until 23 November, 2022. Twyford and Finchampstead Parish Councils have been individually preparing these documents with input from their communities over the past few years. If they're adopted, they'll sit alongside our own policies to guide planning decisions in these areas. Before this can happen, each has to independently examined and then, as long as the examiner agrees, put to a referendum. Each neighbourhood plan proposes a vision for managing future growth within its parish, as well as policies which reflect the priorities of their communities. Your comments matter as they will show whether you and others in the area agree with these ideas. The examiner will scrutinise the plans based on national requirements and can recommend changes, so it's important that we know now whether you would like to see amendments. To view the proposals for each parish and the supporting evidence, please click on the relevant folder. Each includes a form which you can download to send your responses to us. For any alternative formats or help responding, call our customer services team on (0118) 974 6000 or visit our offices at Shute End, Wokingham, or pop into one of the borough’s libraries for assistance in person. Visit our website for more information about neighbourhood planning across Wokingham borough. Project

Having opened in September 2009 we are now an established, successful and oversubscribed Academy. Every year, over 700 students want to join us in Year 7. Our brilliant Sixth Form also attracts hundreds of external applicants every year. Throughout their time at Chelsea Academy students flourish, benefitting from a rich academic curriculum and strong pastoral care. Learning is designed to excite, inspire and challenge. Through our science specialism we ensure that every student has a thorough understanding of science and we offer a unique range of scientific opportunities and visitors to students from Year 7 through to Year 13. Our vision: ‘Learning together to flourish’, is lived out every day; a vision informed by our Christian values. These values of forgiveness, joy, perseverance, charity and servant leadership are an integral part of our journey to success. Visitors always comment on the sense of purpose, of belonging and of our commitment to diversity and inclusion. Our mission: Work Hard, Be Kind, No Excuses provides students with a compass to guide and direct their journey. The Chelsea Academy Way for Behaviour clearly sets out our expectations so that every student understands how they should conduct themselves. We have a longer school day than most other local schools. Each day (apart from Wednesday) is made up of six, 55 minute lessons. Our curriculum is broad in Year 7, 8 and 9, allowing students to discover subjects such as Citizenship and languages, in addition to the core building block subjects such as English, Maths and Science, before they choose their GCSE options for the two year GCSE programme starting in Year 10. Our Extended Curriculum offer ensures that our students also benefit from having a rich ‘all round’ experience. By the time students leave the Academy they will have developed the resilience, wisdom, hope and skills with which to lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. This website holds a range of information no matter your interest in the Academy. The news section of the website and our twitter feed are regularly updated with what we have been up to. Please take a look! Parents and carers, do visit the Parent Portal, which has content specifically for you. If you are interested in joining us as a member of staff, then the careers section has what you need. It is a wonderful, dynamic and fast moving environment. We benefit from being in a fantastic London location and take advantage of excellent partnerships, both local and further afield. The Academy is also very fortunate to have an outstanding board of governors. They are very much invested and interested in the Academy. Touchtennis

Thank you for visiting touchtennis.com, and welcome to the tribe. touchtennis was founded by Rashid Ahmad in 2002 (or it may be 2003 depending on how many slams he wants to credit himself with) and his initial vision was simple – to create a sport that works for every age and every ability, possible to play anywhere, that will foster fun and connection above all, as well as of course getting people fit, energised and moving. Played on a 12 x 6 metre compact court with foam balls, a foldaway and easy to set up net and 21 inch tennis racquets, you can set up to play wherever you like from your school, park, garden or even the beach. Although the game is particularly attractive to beginners and less experienced tennis players looking to improve their hand-eye coordination, if you want to take it a step further from your garden, you might be interested in joining the growing touchtennis world tour. With Slams and Masters Tournaments, the tour has attracted players of all abilities who compete like lunatics for ranking points and prize money. But mainly just for the larks! Because, you see, the key to touchtennis is the amount of spin, deft stroke-play, chess-like tactics and unique, sometimes even silly, rules like using your body to make shots after (and only after) you’ve made a shot by throwing your racquet at a ball you couldn’t reach. It’s a game that is brains over brawn, touch over power, spin over strength, flair over fighting. And this is where the bigger vision comes in and why we would love you to join us – we believe as people soften their approach to sport they can soften their approach to life and that touchtennis can become about connection, community, purpose and a sense of belonging in something fun and healthy instead of to violent gangs or peer pressure activities or just to break the habit of your life stressors. We all have them. The bigger picture is to see touchtennis being a force for change and good around conflict and violence. A court straddling the borders of warring countries where individuals from those nations are seen battling their feelings through the skill and expertise of touchtennis and having fun doing it, perhaps even sharing a doubles partner with someone from the opposite country would be Rashid’s dream. (We are also striving to make our products sustainable and cheap for the whole world to be able to afford to play.) touchtennis shows that what divides is not as great as what unites us in this instance via a playful, intricate but easy sport. As Gandhi said “The golden way is to be friends with the world and to regard the whole human family as one.” We would love you to join the tribe. The touchtennis website is packed with further information including where you can give it a go and how you can set up your own court, but if you want to know more or to get involved don’t hesitate to get in touch by emailing here. We hope you enjoyed the pun!

Nordic Laboratories

Each body is unique. Thus, the current healthcare model of standardized treatment for everyone is not the proper way to address healthcare. Instead, we promote the functional medicine view of healthcare as individualised and preventative, not just generalized and reactionary. The aim of healthcare should be to fortify and maintain health, prevent disease and help people live well. For many patients this means working with his or her practitioner to develop a treatment, diet, or routine specific to that patient. This patient/practitioner relationship is of utmost importance. Our goal is to help practitioners treat their patients as successfully as possible - whether to alleviate the pains of chronic disease or to better her marathon best. Laboratory tests reveal who we really are - physically unique individuals, the sum of numerous biochemical systems. The study of these systems grants us perspective into how we live and how we feel. To know your body is to know your self. With this knowledge we can make informed decisions on how to alter our habits to better our lives. Genetic testing is at the forefront of clinical science. As each budding field needs leaders to innovate and educate, Nordic Laboratories and DNAlysis Biotechnology have combined their efforts to revolutionise healthcare, one gene at a time. Collaborating with a shared vision for the future, Nordic Laboratories and DNAlysis Biotechnology created DNA Life, a global provider of genetic testing, innovation and education. With these tests and their proven professional experience, practitioners can personalise treatment, dietary interventions, and training regimes.
