I investigate how your digestive system is functioning for your body to absorb the nutrients from your food and build your tissues. Hello there and thank you for stopping by my website. My name is Meg Brettell and I couldn’t be more excited about sharing my story and everything I know about health and fitness with you. Hopefully it will inspire and help you on your own fitness journey. Fitness has always been a part of my life. Both my parents were or had been in the fitness industry at some point and I grew up being a part of every sports team and club at school. Dancing was a large part of it and I went on to study professional stage dance at college after school. I had danced since I was 3 and It had always been my dream to be a dancer until I injured my back in my final year of tuition. So I taught dance and cheerleading to primary and secondary girls for a couple of years before it was back to the drawing board and with the love of health and fitness and wanting to help people,I went down the trainer path. I first done my exercise to music and my gym qualification then onto my Level 3 personal training certificate. In 2013 I was looking at bikini and fitness models and competitors online in America and said to my old man “I want to look like that!” And his response was “great, go do it.” Without any knowledge or experience in this field I set out to do my research. I started looking at shows, competitors, supplements, training, how to cut, how to bulk, stage tan, bikinis, shoes… the list was endless. I hadn’t thought about a coach before as didn’t know they existed then (now everyone and their gran seems to be one). My dad was a bodybuilder in his teens and early 20s so asked him for a little help. And by little he told me if I was looking okay or needed to be leaner. Very funny when I look back now.

I am Irish but have lived in the northwest of England for over 20 years. After originally qualifying as a person-centred counsellor in 1994, I worked in GP practices in the northwest and in north Wales before working in London at the Beverley Clinic. I was then invited to teach, part-time, on counselling courses at Oldham College, and progressed to a full-time post as programme leader for the counselling diploma. Subsequently, I worked full-time as lecturer and joint course leader at University of Salford for a number of years before deciding to leave teaching and focus on providing therapy. In 2006, I qualified as a Gestalt psychotherapist (Manchester Gestalt Centre and Metanoia Institute). Gestalt theory and practice is fascinating, and the thoroughness of the training, which is accredited by Gestalt Psychotherapy & Training Institute, makes it a highly respected and powerful approach. At a recent estimate, I have worked therapeutically with over 8000 clients for an average of ten sessions each. I would like to say that therapy was successful with all – but not quite, I’m sure. At University of Liverpool, where I work part-time, the CORE-OM system is used to assess outcomes, and my work has a high success rate. I have two teenage sons, and I’m an avid football fan and watch a lot of it. Recently I had the pleasure of working for Everton Football Club with some of their first team. I read a lot of non-fiction, watch Netflix, enjoy photography, walk our spaniel, Daisy, and exercise regularly. I got into counselling and therapy over 25 years ago when I decided to face my own personal problems. I needed a lot of help and to my surprise, and initial scepticism, it worked well for me. I feel transformed by this experience (it was long term and not always easy). From this experience I developed an endless fascination for psychotherapy. I was fortunate to have been a client to some very capable therapists, to whom I am more than grateful.

An Egyptian/British Physiotherapy clinician and Academic based in the UK, He moved to the UK in 2004 and started his Academic Career as a Senior lecturer in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) Where he was leading the Musculoskeletal module within the post graduate program, he works occasionally as clinical specialist with National Health Service and runs private clinics in Sheffield and London, fellow of the higher education academy-UK, certified McKenzie Therapist-UK and international manual therapy tutor. It happened that he shared the office at SHU with Dr Stephen May the author of McKenzie Text Books and a remarkable researcher, in a cloudy morning in the winter of 2006 at the Cafe area in Robert Winston Building of SHU ,Mahmoud has invited Dr May to visit Cairo-Egypt to present a short introductory workshop to the McKenzie concept. the rest is history. Vision and Mission: The vision was not difficult to set, at that time, continuous professional Development in the Middle East was a new concept, where many physios were happy with hot packs, US and Exercise protocols. Therefore, stage one of our mission was to introduce all the well known concepts/schools/school of thoughts was number one priority. Between 2006 to 2011 Primephysio collaborated with McKenzie Institute International, International Bobath Tutor Training Association, Orthopaedic Medicine Belgium, British Bobath tutors association , Mulligan tutors association to run many training courses in Cairo - Egypt and Amman-Jordan and Sheffield.UK.This was stage one. Stage 2 started in 2011. We wanted to send a clear message, it is not about single concept or approach it is about a logically balanced and blended approach where all concepts are considered for the right patient on the right time. Many experienced clinicians and Academic mainly from the UK , most of them were SHU senior teaching staff, were part of this Journey. 18 years ago I was encouraged by a friend to think about what motivates me and what i value the most, and then to look into this as a starting point for new work. I was very unhappy working in a human resources firm; however the training and presentation experience has been so valuable. I realised that it was very important to me to eat right and exercise, not only for how I looked, but for health reasons; varicose veins, under active thyroid and injured neck and hips. So I embarked on a couple of years studying part time whilst still working full time for the HR company. Alongside this I started to pick up some part time gym work to gain the experience of the health and fitness industry; and although a very important step in the right direction, I soon found out that gym life was only a season for me. It was very soon that i started to put my retail management experience and my training consultation experience to the test and embarked on setting up my own health and fitness business. The gym environment gave me the : 1. experience I needed 2. exposure to taking group sessions, i.e. classes 3. time to invest in further courses and qualifications Then i started hiring church/youthcentre halls and designing my own Fitness Pilates classes, offering to take healthy eating workshops in clients homes, and then in time 1 to 1 Personal Training. Wherever I was living, I found an audience who needed, not just wanted, my classes and personal support. I took a leap of faith and over the years have met so many people, helped them along their journey of health and fitness and seen results which bring a ray of hope... a new level of energy and of course inspire them to aspire to the next level in their journey. I am now about to embark on the next step of faith.... from wherever I am be able to support people with their health and fitness goals virtually and personally. (see my product mix on the front page)
