She teaches Yin Yoga and Flow Yoga for mixed abilities and beginners classes with sequences that can be modified to make them more/less challenging depending on the student’s level. I was eager to learn the asanas (poses) and their Sanskrit names (classic language of ancient India), the breathing exercises and always savoured resting in Corpse pose (Savasana) at the end of class. I then decided to explore yoga in more depth, learn about the philosophy and anatomy and to teach yoga to others, so I enrolled on the Diploma course with Yogacampus where I was taught by some truly inspiring yoga teachers including Lisa Sanfilippo, Jo Manuel, Katrina Repka, Liz Lark, Aadil Palkhivala, Doug Keller and Dr. Ruth Gilmore. UK GLOBAL LEARNING ASSOCIATION FOR SCHOOLS (UKGLAS) is a co-operative network which exists to support a range of professionals who have a role in supporting the international and/or global dimension in education. The Association was founded in 1996 and until 2008 was known as UKAEIES (UK Association for European and International Education in Schools). UKGLAS is registered as a charity in the UK (registration number: 1063668). The overall mission of the Association is to support the membership as they work with schools and school networks of all types to develop an international outlook and prepare their learners for life in an increasingly globalised society. Regular inputs from these organisations and opportunities for networking are part of the benefits of membership. The current membership of around 25 includes personnel working in a range of over-lapping contexts. They include international education consultants, Local Authority international co-ordinators and advisers, workers from Development Education Centres and languages specialists. Prior to the 2019 UKGLAS held regular meetings (usually three per annum in London) plus an annual conference. During the pandemic these meetings and conferences were held online. We resumed face to face meetings (with optional virtual attendance) on 18th October 2022. Please see the Membership and Meetings pages for details GLOBAL LEARNING ASSOCIATION (GLA) is the not-for-profit trading arm of UKGLAS established in 2012 (Company number 7468905). UKGLAS membership entitles individuals to apply to become GLA Associates at no extra cost. The GLA is able to bid for commercial contracts and pay suitably qualified Associates for their work. The majority of our Associates are also qualified teachers and some have recent experience of headships or other senior management posts. The GLA has been part of several British Council programmes including all the iterations of Connecting Classrooms. We also held the contract for the assessment of the International School Award up to August 2022 and look forward to bidding into a successor contract in the coming weeks. Our EU work included many Key Action 1 training courses and we hope to re-start these outside of the UK in 2023. Independent Coach Corporation was established and incorporated in 1941 by Mr. Francis Levett. Mr. Levett started the company with one bus, which he drove and maintained. Gradually, Mr. Levett expanded the company and the number of buses. However, it was only after World War II and the expansion of suburbia that the company began to see extensive growth. Independent Coach's first client was the Lawrence Public Schools which we are proud to note is still our largest client after more than 60 years. The company presently serves approximately 18 school districts in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County and the Long Island Railroad. Independent Coach and Mr. Levett were at the forefront of many safety concerns that affected its passengers. Independent Coach was one of the first school bus companies to have dual stop signs on their buses as opposed to just one. In addition, Independent Coach was one of the first companies to have the new and innovative crossover mirrors, cross over lights on the hoods of buses and the roofs of the buses painted in silver or white paint to reflect sunlight and heat. State law now mandates many of these features. Mr. Nicholas Fabrizio has been an employee of Independent Coach since 1955. He started his employment with the company as a bus driver and mechanic. As a result of his hard work and dedication to the company, Mr. Fabrizio started working alongside Mr. Levett where he learned the school bus industry from the "bottom up." Mr. Fabrizio eventually became the General Manager of all Independent Coach operations. In May of 1999, Mr. Fabrizio and his family purchased Independent Coach from the Estate of Francis Levett and became the company's president. Mr. Fabrizio's extensive experience in the industry along with his working relationship with Mr. Levett has resulted in the company's long lasting commitment to the safest transportation possible utilizing the most efficient and innovative methods in the industry. Independent Coach currently has two bus yards in the southwest section of Nassau County. The Inwood location is the original bus yard of the company while the Hewlett bus yard was purchased later in the 1970's. Independent Coach presently has approximately 300 vehicles in its fleet and approximately 380 employees.
