During that time he has been Head of Buying for Waterstones, worked for publishers big and small - including a lengthy spell at HarperCollins - and taught numerous workshops and classes on all aspects of writing. These days he splits his time between writing his own books, editing other people's, teaching the editors of tomorrow as part of the Oxford Brookes University MA in Publishing, and he is one of the question setters for BBC's Mastermind. His latest book, Tips From A Publisher, is out now. As a publisher, Scott has published across most genres in fiction and a wide range of non-fiction and is happy to read any style of writing. About This VILT This 3 half-day course is designed to give a clear businessperson’s summary of the technological, market and economic/competitive issues around the key commodities which can be decarbonised through the use of clean hydrogen in their production. It will examine direct derivatives such as ammonia, methanol and synfuels, along with the impact clean hydrogen may have on the production and trading of other products such as green steel. Clear explanations will be given on technological pathways and key terminologies, in language accessible to non-engineers and commercial businesspeople. On the fiction side, she is looking for historical fiction that is well researched, immerses readers in the era, and looks at overlooked characters from the past, or perhaps gives a new spin on someone we think we know. On the literary and upmarket side, she is looking for novels infused with emotions that capture the human experience and make readers think. If your literary novel is something that A24 productions might turn into a movie, this is Liza’s taste. When it comes to fantasy, she loves urban and grounded fantasy (no sci-fi please!), and is always happy to look at anything with a vampire, werewolf, witches, warlocks, fairies, and perhaps a sinister selkie or two. She is also very much looking for romantasy and is the best person at the agency to submit that too. For thrillers, send her anything set in an exotic location, high-concept, or things with a speculative twist.
