The Anglo-Iraqi Studies Centre (AISC) is an academic and community project based in London. AISC aims to be a point of contact in London for all knowledge about Anglo-Iraqi studies. The centre is dedicated to gathering, presenting and reviewing all material written in English about Iraq in the last two centuries (1800 – 2000) and aims to bring together Iraqi and British communities through the mediums of cultural events, knowledge presentations, outreach visits, studies, workshops and sessions with academic professionals from Iraq and the UK. The centre aims to play a key role with academic and public figures in the UK to enhance public knowledge and understanding of Iraq, Anglo-Iraqi studies, Iraqi-British connections, assisting the Iraqi-British community to rediscover their identities thus enabling further positive integration of Iraqis into British life. This website contains further information about the AISC, a list of selected books published in English about Iraq, the full text of a selection of English language books about Iraq, a photographic archive related to Iraq, a list of publications by AISC’s staff and volunteers and video links to events by AISC staff. The centre contains a library with more than 1,000 books and periodicals published in English about Iraq and aims to collect as many English language publications on Iraq as possible. My career as an artist started in 1996 when I was asked to illustrate articles from a national religious magazine in Italy. Through the years I developed skills in both digital illustration and hand paint with watercolour and acrylic. In 2002 I decided to take it further and attend a school of art and, in 2005, I graduated as a Comics illustrator and special effects artist. Since I was always attracted by the movie world, I decided to use my new certificate to approach this fantastic world. I worked few years for a production company which took me away from my Country of origin and gave me the opportunity to develop my skills as an artist and writer. I wrote several screenplays for the big screen and illustrated storyboards on a daily basis and here is when I started thinking about writing and illustrating stories for children. “The first tale of Sarah” in fact was born as an idea for a children’s movie but not developed more than a script. In 2015 I moved in the UK and I started working on my first personal project “The Tale of Sarah”, a three books series which I’m writing and illustrating. The first one was published in 2017 and I’m currently working on the second volume. My goal in sharing these stories is to share a message of hope with readers of all ages. As an artist I keep on developing my skills every day and trying new ways and techniques to improve my illustrations. In 2018, I enrolled BA in Illustration at the Open College of the Arts.

Southgate Mosque was founded in 2021 as a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing prayer facilities to the local Muslim community. Southgate Mosque and Community Centre Ltd is a Registered Charity in England and Wales with charity number 1201327. We opened the doors to the Alan Pullinger Centre in Southgate for Jumuah prayers in November 2021. Within a few weeks, numbers had grown through word of mouth, and less than a year later, we were at full capacity. Our community Iftar event during Ramadan was over-subscribed, and over 400 people attended Eid-ul-Adha prayers in Groveland’s Park. There is a growing Muslim community in Southgate and surrounding areas (Oakwood and Cockfosters) made up of a varied demographic, ethnic and socio-economic population that makes an essential contribution to the fabric of the area. Our social, spiritual and educational needs continue to grow and hence the urgent need for a mosque in the area. We now have a unique opportunity to acquire a truly spectacular building set within its own extensive 3 acres of grounds in the heart of Southgate. The building itself is Grade II listed and is of special interest to English Heritage. If we were to succeed in establishing our centre here, we would be able ensure that in addition to meeting the current needs of local Muslims, we would be restoring a valuable asset within the local area, and would secure a legacy for generations to come. This project will not be easy and will take time, however it will only be possible with the support and contributions of the local community. We therefore appeal to you to donate generously and help us in whatever way you can to secure a unique legacy in Southgate for both Muslims and the wider community.

Our apostolic activity is centred around the Holy Sacrifice and all that pertains to it and our dedication to the formation of priests comes of devotion to the Mass. In 1991, in answer to families seeking a good Catholic education for their children, a small boarding school was opened in Hampshire. Staff and children were, and continue to be, able to experience the unique privilege of a Catholic environment centred around Holy Mass. With the passage of time, families and faithful have moved to the area, desirous of regular access to the sacraments. With the permanent presence of priests and religious, the school community has grown and developed into a thriving Catholic parish centred around the Tridentine Mass - the largest of its kind in the U.K. The small school chapel has long become insufficient to cater for the needs of the ever-growing number of souls in need of pastoral care. It has become urgent to relieve the school from the demands of parish ministry and to provide a dedicated space for parish growth. With over 40 baptisms in the past 3 years, it is time to rise to the challenge. We wish to build a church worthy of the Divine Guest Who seeks to give Himself to souls, a church where everyone can come to visit Him Who resides within. St. Michael’s forms the largest traditional Catholic community in the country and yet it has no church. The project is underway to give God a new house and home.
