Welcome to the website of the Genetic Counsellor Registration Board (GCRB). The purpose of the GCRB is to establish, maintain and improve standards of practice in genetic counselling to assure public safety in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. It seeks to achieve this through accepting responsibility in three primary areas: Setting and monitoring standards for entry to the profession. Establishing and maintaining open and transparent systems of professional accreditation. Maintaining and improving standards of professional practice, to protect and promote the professional reputation for the benefit of the profession and public alike. The vision of the GCRB is “ensuring expertise to serve families with genetic conditions”. In 2019 the GCRB register was transferred to the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS). A GCRB Board Member sits on the AHCS Healthcare Science Registration Council and Genetic Counsellors who have met the GCRB assessment criteria are now included in the AHCS public register of Practitioners accredited by the Professional Standards Authority

The journey started in 2013 with the vision to create a psychologically healthier and safe space for nationals and residents in Qatar to heal, grow, and flourish. The initial idea was to create an integrated psychological well-being focused center in Qatar. After over fifteen years in the corporate world, the systemic gaps that existed were crystal clear, but the road was steeper than expected. It took over six years and the pandemic to turn this around into Flourishing Minds! Flourishing minds is a social enterprise focused on increasing awareness around mental health, improving access to mental health services, advocating an integrated and whole system approach to health care and well-being, and promoting a psychologically healthy and safe workplace. With a foundation built on safety, trust, choice, collaboration, and empowerment; Flourishing Minds strives to engage with individuals, families, communities, and organizations – to motivate, inspire, nurture, develop, and sustain healing and growth. athan is the CEO of LifeLine Projects, an East London based charity dedicated to finding solutions that positively impact the lives of individuals and influence the systems that govern us. Nathan has worked at LifeLine since 2003 and has developed key relationships with schools across East London providing a ‘pastoral partnership’ in the form of mentoring, alternative provision and youth leadership programmes. Nathan also developed and spearheads LifeLine’s award-winning Vision, Identity and Purpose (VIP) Framework, an approach to working with young people, employment seekers, volunteers and parents. Prior to this he worked for the local Children’s Fund as a Community Liaison Officer. He continues to support youth organisations by providing education and mentoring advice and training. Nathan sits on the Health and Wellbeing Board, The Children’s Partnership and is a governor of a local secondary school. He continues to work with young people on a voluntary basis in addition to his day job to ensure that policy and practice remain connected.
