After 34 years working as a graphic designer/illustrator and photographer, I made a career change in 2018 to concentrate on my love of art, crafts, making and printing. Natural forms/plants, landscapes and architecture are my favourite subjects to work with but nothing is out of the question if it inspires me. Gel plate monoprinting allows me to work with all of these in various combinations, printing onto gift tags, envelopes, glass, wood, fabric and large format paper. I also eco-print using leaves, flowers and natural plant/vegetable dyes, but am also a big fan of using commercial small batch dyes for quick results with fabrics. The ‘making’ aspect of my work allows me to produce small bespoke items. Brooches are a favourite, with each one being hand painted and therefore a one-off (even if the colour way is similar). My latest are formed from a birch plywood base, which I choose to source externally rather than make myself, and therefore help to support another business. I also enjoy teaching and really love seeing others learn something new and take home the items and skills they have acquired.....hopefully with the inspiration to do more! The photography side of my work still ticks over in the background with images and items that I sell on Redbubble. I have also remained a contributor to online photo libraries including Dreamstime and Adobe Stock. Commissioned work is something I take on now and again when time allows. Fun 2 Learn Code offers coding classes and day camps for children and teens in the Austin area to learn the fundamentals of computer programming and video game development. working on a Scratch project We provide two types of learning opportunities for students: group classes and labs. After-school, homeschool and weekend options are available. No prior programming experience is needed for any of our labs and most of our classes. We also host monthly Coding Nights and periodic workshops. Classes Our group classes are instructor-led and cover a specific program or platform for a certain number of weeks. Classes are designed for beginner and intermediate level students. Options include Introduction to Coding, Minecraft Mods, Video Game Development, Python, Virtual Reality, Keyboarding and others. Labs In our coding labs, students are encouraged to explore technologies that interest them and to work at a pace that they enjoy. We offer ongoing year-round enrollment for our labs, so students can join at any time. Options include Scratch, Python, Java, video game development, Minecraft Mods, Unity, mobile app development, Javascript, web development, 2D/3D graphic design and animation, and more! No previous programming experience is required since the curriculum is geared to each one’s level and pace. Our classes and labs are held at our studio in Round Rock, located at 416 Chisholm Valley Drive. We also host workshops at other locations in the Austin area, including libraries and schools.

opening up cricket community interest company

Opening Up Cricket was formed in 2014 in response to the death of Sefton Park CC wicket keeper Alex Miller and a will to promote positive mental health in our sport. Alex took his own life in December 2012 and in the year that followed team mates supported the work of C.A.L.M to pay tribute. This has continued but as the season following his passing came to a close there was a thought to do something lasting and further reaching. As a result, the organisation was created with the aim of speaking to local cricketers about the experience of losing Alex in the hope that more conversations about this topic could prevent further tragedies. Now, in 2022, we have delivered over 400 sessions across the United Kingdom and Australia. The desire to get our message to the cricketing community remains as strong as ever. We are run by unpaid volunteers with help from the National Lottery Community Fund who have provided a grant for sessions costs so that groups can receive them without charge. We also owe a lot of thanks to the support provided by clubs, leagues and partners who have supported in many ways more to allow us to go further than the grant. Currently we are registered as a Community Interest Company but have now applied for registered charity status.

Wirral Environmental Network is a local charity which aims to advance the education of the public about the preservation of our world’s natural environment, ecological sustainability, natural resource conservation, waste minimisation, recycling and the principles of fair trade, within Wirral and the surrounding area. It is also a focal point for sustainability issues locally and is the administrative centre for projects including A-Z of Horticulture, Health through Horticulture, Wirral Tree Wardens, Furniture Reuse, Reuse Craft Groups, Cool Communities, Carbon Literacy and many more. Together with Green organisations throughout the country, we believe we are a potent catalyst for change. But this change will not happen automatically. We need people from all walks of life to join us. We can all see the problems planet Earth is facing, so we shouldn’t need much persuading. This is important work, and it is very rewarding.
