Ethics Matters: Corporate Governance and CFOs

By FD Capital

Ethics Matters: Corporate Governance and CFOs,” the podcast where we dive deep into the critical intersection of corporate governance. Sustainability and ESG reporting have gained significant attention in recent years. How do CFOs incorporate these considerations into their financial strategies and decision-making? CFOs recognise that sustainable practices and ESG considerations are not only ethical imperatives but also critical for long-term business success. We incorporate these considerations into financial strategies by assessing the environmental and social impacts of our operations, supply chains, and investment decisions. By incorporating ESG factors into our financial analyses, we make more informed decisions that align with our company’s values and stakeholder expectations. Furthermore, CFOs play a pivotal role in ESG reporting. We collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect relevant data, establish reporting frameworks, and communicate the company’s sustainability initiatives to stakeholders. This transparency fosters trust and accountability while allowing investors, customers, and the broader community to evaluate our commitment to sustainable practices. Board engagement is essential for effective corporate governance. How can CFOs contribute to building a strong relationship between the CFO and the board of directors? Building a strong relationship with the board of directors begins with open and transparent communication. CFOs provide timely and accurate financial information, strategic insights, and risk assessments to the board. We actively participate in board meetings, present financial reports, and engage in discussions about financial performance, strategic initiatives, and potential risks. By demonstrating our financial expertise and ethical leadership, we contribute to a healthy and productive relationship with the board. It’s also crucial for CFOs to provide independent perspectives and challenge conventional thinking when necessary. By offering well-informed insights and raising critical questions, we contribute to robust board discussions and decision-making. This collaborative approach fosters an environment where diverse perspectives are valued, and ethical considerations are thoroughly examined. I would encourage fellow CFOs to prioritise ethics and corporate governance as integral components of their roles. Embed ethical considerations into decision-making processes, ensure robust governance structures, and actively engage with stakeholders. By doing so, we can drive sustainable, responsible, and successful organizations. https://www.fdcapital.co.uk/podcast/ethics-matters-corporate-governance-and-cfos/ Tags Online Events Things To Do Online Online Conferences Online Business Conferences #event #ethics #matters #cfos #corporategovernance

Networking skills for sales professionals (In-House)

By The In House Training Company

Many people have a misconception about networking events, and lose out on new business opportunities as a result. They either don't appreciate the real benefits and techniques of networking and don't attend events, or they attempt to 'sell on the first date', causing resentment. You can either attempt to make a sale for a quick buck (which is particularly likely to backfire at a networking event), or you can try to open a long-term relationship, creating new opportunities and a high lifetime value customer (which is how it's meant to be done). Networking, when done properly, is an excellent tool for referrals. But you have to appreciate that it's done on the basis of giving rather than receiving and this doesn't always come naturally to sales professionals. The old saying that it's about getting to 'know, like and trust' is still true. This workshop is about having your prospects and customers getting to know, like and trust you, and building that lifetime value as a result. By the end of this programme, participants will be able to: Understand what networking is - networking etiquette Know how and where to network Clarify their objectives - why network Use the 4 basic questions to start a conversation Build rapport quickly and easily Answer the question 'What do you do?' effectively in a few seconds Deliver a 60-second pitch Break into a group Prepare for a network meeting Identify opportunities Use tools to assist in networking 1 Introduction Aims and objectives 2 What is networking? In 1999, West Dunbartonshire SIP commissioned research on the needs of local young people from Dumbarton, Vale of Leven and Clydebank. Findings highlighted overwhelming support for the introduction of some form of youth information service. A steering group, comprising local young people and adults was set up and the idea of a youth led information and support project; for young people by young people was developed with funding from West Dunbartonshire Partnership, Scottish Enterprise Dunbartonshire and Greater Glasgow NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. In January the Y Sort-It Youth Information Centre on Kilbowie road was launched with four full-time members of staff, led by a management committee made up of the young members of the steering group and this committee is still the main driving force for the project today(though its members have changed from year to year). In 2014 Y Sort-It moved to its huge new base located besides the Clydebank Hub on West Thomson Street. Where before the base had been a small and sometime cramped place to hold meetings and groups the new base was is now a massive difference and as such the opportunities are now boundless. So please if you’re in the area why not drop in and you can help us to continue making fantastic history for the young people of West Dunbartonshire. Our Facilities Y Sort It youth centre provides a dedicated youth friendly space with various weekly youth activities offered throughout the West Dunbartonshire are . Our Y Sort It outreach bus helps provide youth activities across the local communities of West Dunbartonshire and our unique Carbeth hut, the Gillie Dhu, provides an opportunity for young people and children to enjoy the outdoors located in the Carbeth Hutting Community, Stirlingshire.
