From our workshop in Inverness, Scotland, we hand make custom and bespoke lamp shades, soft furnishings and interior decor items. We have customers across the world as well as around the corner. We use a range of different fabrics and materials to make our lampshades, cushions, and other interior soft furnishings including Harris Tweed, 100% wool fabrics, cotton, velvet and silk. We can customise our lampshades and soft furnishings in both size and colour to suit our clients’ requirements and to compliment their interior decor. Lucy Wagtail light shades are available in a variety of shapes such as the round drum, tall and round cylinder, oval, square, empire and French drum. All lampshades are available in sizes from 15cm up to huge, oversize lamp shades of up to 1m in diameter. We have now also introduced recyclable lampshade board as an eco-friendly option. Sustainability is important to us and we encourage the re-use and upcycling of lampshade frames, some of which are quite irreplaceable and lovely! We often refurbish lampshade frames that we have sourced ourselves and offer lamp shade refurbishment as a service. We have successfully rescued quite a few lampshades from certain landfill over the years! Contact us directly if you’d like to find out more about refurbishing your lampshade. Hello lovely you, and welcome to my website. I’m Jacqueline Schultz owner of JSInteriorsUK and amongst other things I make bespoke soft furnishings and also teach these skills on weekend workshop retreats. I have oodles of exciting beautiful home ideas to share so please visit regularly for the latest blogs, resources and videos. I have always been obsessed by textiles and trimmings and have to admit often buy a piece of fabric, antique lace or trim without any idea of their immediate use or any agenda other than I find them beautiful. Living as an expat in many locations around the world, I’ve spent years making hand stitched curtains, blinds, traditional soft lampshades and other soft furnishings for my homes. When I returned to the UK, I trained as an Interior designer and started creating beautiful homes for other people. To ensure individual attention to detail and products of the highest quality I work with only a small number of clients at any one time. I oversaw all aspects of a room scheme including styling, sourcing fabrics and trimmings, designing and creating.

My passion for sewing started at an early age when making matching outfits for mother and daughter was the done thing! The sewing machine we used was temperamental but despite this I was hooked! On visits to my grandparents I would also watch my granny hand sewing little bags with zips or altering her clothes. The possibilities of this new hobby seemed endless. You could also save a fortune and I was so pleased with my creations… What I loved about sewing and still do, is being able to make something that is exactly what I want and it is well-finished enough so it looks as though I have bought it. It certainly doesn’t have to be expensive either, in fact the thriftier the better! Over the years I have been on various courses and workshops to learn more about sewing (and in particular more recently about soft furnishings) and I even got myself a job for a year in the Fabric Department at Liberty in London which was really rather special! I eventually became a teacher myself (English as a Foreign Language) which I loved; I now know how I would want to be taught and how not to teach! For the past six years or so I have been making soft furnishings in the room at the bottom of the garden, firstly for family, then friends and then others, all with the ultimate aim of setting up sewing workshops. And so my dream job is now a reality: all my experience has come together so I can teach people my passion for fabrics, colour, sewing and soft furnishings. The satisfaction I get and can give my students is immense; now I am giving people the skills and the confidence to make beautiful cushions for their home or for their friends; teaching them how to calculate and cut for beautifully hand-finished curtains and blinds… and all in the fabric they love! These sewing workshops are the making-time for you and your home – so what will you come and learn?

From dress making, bags, toys and soft furnishings, The Sewing Club has helped hundreds of adults and children to realise their sewing dreams and goals. The lessons accommodate all levels from beginners to those a bit rusty and needing confidence to those wanting to take their sewing skills to the next level. Courses are on-going and tailor-made to you so you can come for one 6-week course or come for a year and many do!

Dressmaking course - Sew with stretch fabrics!

Runs on Sundays 25th Februrary and 2nd March 10:30-3:30 Make the fab Tilly and the Buttons Coco or Billy dress in this one day class. These dresses are made from knitted fabric and therefor a great pattern to make in a short time - No zips or buttonholes! It should just fit straight out of the envelope. This is a good class to learn about using stretch fabrics on a domestic sewing machine. For a more in-depth class covering fitting please join the 3 day dressmaking course instead.   The pattern for this garment is included in the class fee, as are the machines, haberdashery, endless tea and coffee. All you'll need to bring is the fabric for your dress, I will discuss the exact amount and what kind is suitable once the class is booked.    This is a small class so you will get lots of time with me. I will have a maximum of 4 students in the class but usually we just have 2 or 3.  Event Terms & Conditions Classes need to be paid for at the time of booking. They will only run once the minimum number of students is met. My studio sadly isn’t accessible to those with mobility issues. I have cats but no soft furnishings or carpets in the studio so most people with allergies are fine with antihistamines.

Dressmaking 3 day workshop

Start by learning to read a commercial dressmaking pattern, adjusting it to your own unique measurements, and then learn to sew up your garment. The class has a maximum of 4 people in it so you get tons of one to one support, and you will learn a lot! This is a really comprehensive introduction to learning to make your own clothes. It is a small class and nicely paced so you will be able to ask all the questions and really delve quite deep into it all. Most of my past students now regulary make their own clothes! I am passionate about teaching people about fit and we will talk about dart manipulation, bust adjustments, neckline and sleeve adjustments etc. We usually all work from the same pattern but if you want to make something else because you, for example, don't wear dresses, I am very flexible.
