Wellbeing in Your Home

The Art of Living Well at Home. Meet the team behind Wellbeing in Your Home Gosia Federowicz Yoga, Creativity & Cooking, Co-Founder of Wellbeing in Your Home Gosia loves teaching yoga and meditation, which she’s been doing since 2012 and has over 700 hours of yoga teacher training including 500h Yoga Alliance certified Advanced training. She’s been teaching corporate yoga and meditation classes since 2014, both in offices in person as well as via digital platforms. Her passion is seeing her students transform through yoga and meditation, becoming calmer, more focused and productive. Her yoga path has taken her through many different styles over the years, which has strengthened her own practice and her teaching, as well as helped her become a more confident person and lead a healthier life overall. Gosia is a mum to 2 year old Sophia and when not practicing or teaching yoga, she looks after her vegetable and flower garden, loves writing, mixed media art, baking and cooking, as well as learning Spanish and travelling. Her motto is ‘to just step on the mat and take it one breath at a time’. Zach Fairbanks Mindfulness Meditation & Aikido, Co-Founder of Wellbeing in Your Home Zach is a qualified Mindfulness Meditation teacher completing his training with Mindfulness Now recognised with the British Psychological Society(BPS). A bulk of his knowledge and experience comes through Aikido which he currently holds 5th Dan so Hombu at the World Headquarters Aikikai. Zach has been practicing Aikido for over 35 years and has travelled to the Headquarters in Tokyo Japan several times for regular instruction. Zach says ‘Aikido is a training system for mind and body. It has martial, spiritual, mental and physical fitness benefits’. There are many principles to be learnt and discovered though constant practice that can be applied in many situations of work and life – Connection over Attachment, Harmony, Centring and Shoshin – beginners mind. Essentially, Aikido is an embodiment of Mindfulness Meditation’ Zach openly suffers with anxiety and it can very often take its toll, especially when attempting too much multi tasking or chasing perfection. In order to help with this, Zach started yoga to compliment Aikido. Then, through yoga, he learnt to meditate something that is very much part of Aikido. “When I finally understood the point of meditation and practiced it daily, I became more grounded and centered”.

Field Breaks Art

Chesterfield

Field Breaks started out in the Autumn of 2007 to provide a selection of professionally tutored illustration workshops in the Peak District. This followed the demise of similar workshops in the area and filled a much needed gap for people wanting short affordable art breaks in botanical illustration and landscape painting. Such was the demand for this provision that over the following years the programme has been extended to include a greater selection of courses and venues, along with a growing number of specialist professional tutors. 2020 and the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic saw great challenges to all small businesses, including Field Breaks, with courses rescheduled for safer times. This was an opportunity however for founder member Sue to think seriously about her achievements, goals and ambitions, and after some deliberation decided to pass the business on to fellow artist Hazel. Along with many happy memories of running Field Breaks, Sue is enjoying the opportunity to start new projects. With the handover, Hazel decided to revitalise the old website - "I'm re-dressing the shop window while it's quiet!" Following suggestions from her peers, this also gave her the opportunity to re-think and amend the name from "Field Breaks" to "Field Breaks Art", which lends more focus under the artwork umbrella. We hope you like it! After the extended lockdown, Hazel added a new range of on-line mini workshops in the Spring of 2021, which were a lovely way to keep connected with other artists and share ideas. From July 2021 we were once again able to offer in-person workshops so the focus was to deliver quality tutor-led courses while maintaining a level of safety, including reduced class numbers to enable social distancing. In 2022 we are pleased to be able to offer another full programme of workshops in drawing, painting, botanical illustration, natural history, landscape, abstract, and mixed media including textiles and craft workshops in batik, jewellery making, lacemaking and felting. Please click on the Courses button to see a listing of all our 2022 workshops. Materials are provided for many of the workshops with a list of what to bring to workshops under the course details. We look forward to meeting you for a wonderful year of art and crafts in 2022.

They are suitable for experienced artists and complete beginners alike. They tend to be in the mediums of watercolour painting, mixed media, art journaling, or illustrated poetry, comics & graphic narratives. I am a regular tutor at the Royal West Academy, Bristol, and I'm also available for one to one tutoring, and group private workshops. To see a full list of classes I am currently teaching visit my website at https://www.emmaburleigh.com/teachingworkshops [https://www.emmaburleigh.com/teachingworkshops] I have a PGCE in Art from Oxford Brookes University and twenty years experience teaching Art at GCSE, A level and Key Stage Three. For several years I was the Head of Art at Didcot Girls' School, as well as the Fine Art course Leader for A level at Didcot Sixth Forms in Oxfordshire. I offer A level and GCSE tutoring and have an up to date DBS certificate. I enjoy helping people to develop their drawing and painting skills, and to find their voice. If you're scared to pick up a pencil or paintbrush but have always longed to, my special interest is in helping you to feel the fear and do it anyway!   For more information on my current classes and to get a sense of bespoke workshops I could offer you, visit https://www.emmaburleigh.com/teachingworkshops [https://www.emmaburleigh.com/teachingworkshops]

Maggie's Studio - Artist, Tutor, Writer, Mentor

maggie's studio - artist, tutor, writer, mentor

maggie hollinshead Create - I have been creating things for as long as I can remember, my work is mostly mixed media and textiles. I share my creativity as commissions and artist-led garden design. Commission Client - “Wow, you’ve really understood us” Garden Design Clients - “I’m very impressed you have created something special, it’s a real garden” “I can’t believe that’s our garden” Inspire - I am passionate about my creativity and I enjoy helping others to find their creative side through creative workshops and classes Creative Workshop Student - “Maggie is the most inspiring artist/tutor, she is so generous with sharing her knowledge. She encourages you to search deeper to find your own style, she gives and receives lots of pleasure in the process.” Encourage - I also enjoy helping others through creative mentoring and my work delivering creative sessions within NHS Mental Health settings facilitated by Arts for Health Creative Mentoring Client - “I've been running my small, creative hobby-business for several years now with a relative degree of success. It's grown organically over the years without any real business planning and direction. However, in 2022, I decided that I wanted to try and change this approach so that I could start to develop a more sustainable lifestyle business and Maggie's creative mentoring sessions have been hugely beneficial in this process. The distant learning sessions encouraged me to really think about my business goals, strengths and weaknesses and understand more fully the barriers that have been preventing me from moving forward with the business. The one-to-one sessions then provided a safe space to share ideas and worries with Maggie as well as work on the all-important masterplan of things I need 'to-do-' to take the business to the next level from hobby business to professional business. We covered so much in such a short space of time from branding, product ideas and pricing structure to social media strategy and also drank a lot of coffee! It really is hard not to feel inspired in Maggie's company. Her enthusiasm, knowledge and experience is inspirational and hugely uplifting and true to her word, she does indeed have a warm and infectious smile. She really does encourage you to feel that anything is possible and I'm excited to be moving forward with my business plans as 2023 approaches. I would highly recommend Maggie's creative mentoring sessions to anyone just starting out on their creative business venture or to those who have reached a bit of a crossroads and are unsure what steps to take next. With Maggie by your side, you'll come away energised and enthused and with a list of actions to help you develop and grow your business.”

Kathryn Parsons

kathryn parsons

Uppingham

I live on the edge of the Cambridgeshire Fens for many years, right between the flat fenlands to the east and the first gently rolling hills to the west. It’s a fascinating place, immensely rich in history and with many nationally important nature reserves. Kathryn Parsons My work flows from my love of nature, small details and place combined with a life-long delight in exploring craft techniques. It’s an adventure driven by curiosity and a desire to seek out and share some of the fascinating stories of this amazing planet and the people who’ve lived here… because stories help us connect with places and each other, which is good for humans! And feeling connected also means we’re more likely to cherish and protect biodiversity and heritage. My deep grief for the damage that the natural world is sustaining adds drive and reason. Found in the Fields, detail As I spend time getting to know a place, delving in to archives and talking with people who know it best, I search for stories that capture my attention and which I think will fascinate others too. I intentionally allow space for discoveries to guide the final outcomes, and select materials and techniques that best tell the story. Sharing the research and exploration via social media draws others in to the adventure, and so the stories gently ripple out… the land is "re-storied" and people's connections with place and nature are strengthened and enriched. Kathryn Parsons Handcrafts and simple tools are at the heart of my work. I've always loved exploring what I can make different materials and processes do, right from a very young age. To me it's an exciting, fascinating adventure! And so I use a wide variety of processes and materials, depending on what best communicates the story... from eco-printed poems and sugar shoes to photography and mixed media sculptures. To reduce the environmental impact of my work I often use old or natural objects. And in very small quantities I use porcelain too, because for me it speaks deeply of the beauty, fragility and strength of the natural world. Much of my work is created to be displayed as temporary interventions in the place that it speaks about... adding richness and something new to see, while offering new ways for visitors to respond and engage. Kathryn Parsons My first career was in teaching, in primary, further and adult education - including teaching sugarcraft and competing in international sugarcraft competitions! Gradually I learned to listen to my heart, and follow its desire to use my creativity and love of learning to share fascinating stories of nature and place. I delight in nurturing the creativity of others and sharing my adventures through writing, workshops, demonstrations and talks. In 2022, I launched NatureCraft online mini workshops - a space to connect with nature, creativity and other nature-loving people from across the globe. Exhibitions, Residencies and Site-Specific Artworks I have exhibited at The National Centre for Craft & Design (solo and group exhibition), and created site-specific artworks for Burghley House, University of Leicester, John Clare Trust, Derby Museum’s porcelain gallery and on nature reserves. In 2012 one of my artworks was selected for “Inspired by…” exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. See C.V. for more details. Currently I am Artist in Residence with Langdyke Countryside Trust, a wildlife conservation and heritage charity. I tell the stories of local volunteers and the places, wildlife and heritage that they work to protect. By Easel Weasel Art Workshops

Please come along and join me at my art workshops in acrylics, linocut printing and soft pastels in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District. Whether you are on holiday or living nearby, a novice or experienced - everyone is welcome. I am a professional artist and was a heat semi-finalist in Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year competition, I have exhibited with the Royal Society of British Artists and Royal Society of Marine Artist Mall Galleries, London. Wednesday workshops are located at my home studio. You have a choice of working in acrylics and/or mixed media, soft pastels or linocut printing. Subjects include: landscapes, still life, abstract, portraits, etc. The workshops are fun, relaxing and informative. I also hold a Saturday Art Workshops advertised on Craft Courses! I have a relaxed and informative approach to working with acrylics and mixed media and other techniques. I was a professional muralist for 11 years, specialising in trompe l'oeil (trick of the eye) techniques.  Although photo realism painting in acrylics was essential in creating a painting illusion, I have also worked more recently with impasto and mixed media using acrylics which is an enjoyable and liberating experience. I was a former member of the Association of Professional Muralists and have appeared on television and radio. I have a friendly dog called Phoebe! What's included in the price? Refreshments plus lunch included in day workshop price. The workshops are suitable for any age or experience, maximum class size of 4.  Contact Denise for a list of materials required if you are supplying your own.  Alternatively I can supply all materials for an additional £10.00 on the day.
