Retune was founded by Tom Ryder. Tom is a musician and journalist, and has a diagnosis of bipolar disorder. He was hospitalised for poor mental health multiple times during his late teens and early twenties, which eventually forced him to withdraw from university and begin again from scratch. While in hospital, Tom noticed that patients were finding creative outlets to cope with their predicament. These outlets included drawing, painting, writing poetry, dancing, singing and cooking. Tom wrote songs and, despite those dark times, he realised creativity’s tremendous potential to improve mental health; it is crucial to have an outlet for feelings and emotions. A few years later, Tom started hosting live gigs. He also ran workshops in schools, connecting with young people who were experiencing mental struggles. In 2018, Retune started to take shape: in addition to live shows and schools, Tom now visited prisons and hospitals, and produced online content. Tom’s cousin Kathryn Bailey – a photographer, videographer and all-round creative – joined the project in 2019. As well as sharing Tom’s view that creative outlets are powerful tools for mental wellbeing, Kathryn had a personal attachment to Retune's mission... When Tom was first admitted to hospital, 11-year-old Kathryn was shielded from the truth, as she was considered ‘too young’ to know what was going on. Being involved with Retune allows her to be part of a cause that is close to her heart, especially as Retune’s workshops discuss mental wellbeing with all ages, from primary school pupils to adults. Open conversations around wellbeing are more commonplace nowadays, but there is still a long road ahead. Through its workshops and live shows, Retune is creating a community based around mental wellbeing, underpinned by creativity. When we retune something, such as a musical instrument or a radio, we make small adjustments in order to achieve harmony, clarity and balance. Retune believes that the same theory can be applied to mental health. Harnessing creative outlets that engage the imagination, and following the principles of the SCALES model, can help all of us to make small adjustments. As a result, our mental wellbeing will be more in tune.

As a recruiter with over 20 years of experience in the field of data science and analytics, Roisin McCarthy observed a worrying decline in female candidates applying to roles across every level. The gap in female applicants led her to examine the underlying causes and barriers to women in the data and analytics industries. What she found led her to collaborate with Britain’s foremost analytics expert, Payal Jain and together, Women in Data was formed to confront this startling problem and to agitate for change. Women in Data® aims to bring awareness through media appearances and events; in particular, the landmark annual Women in Data® conference. This began as an understated symposium, attended by 100 people in 2015 and it erupted into the most highly anticipated annual data science event in the UK. At the 2019 conference at the Arora O2 Women in Data welcomed more than 1500 attendees, and in 2020 thousands of data professionals attended a week of online Women in Data events and workshops. The message of diversity and equality is permeating into the data zeitgeist with each Women in Data® event we run. From the classrooms of Milton Keynes to the House of Lords, we have been working tirelessly to raise awareness of the issues and emphasise the value of female participation at every level. We collaborate with our corporate partners to stage regular Women in Data networking events throughout the year, providing opportunities for leaders in the field (mostly women) to share their knowledge and experiences via informative presentations and discussions. We intend to emphasise and celebrate the accomplishments of women because ‘you can’t be what you can’t see’. UK GLOBAL LEARNING ASSOCIATION FOR SCHOOLS (UKGLAS) is a co-operative network which exists to support a range of professionals who have a role in supporting the international and/or global dimension in education. The Association was founded in 1996 and until 2008 was known as UKAEIES (UK Association for European and International Education in Schools). UKGLAS is registered as a charity in the UK (registration number: 1063668). The overall mission of the Association is to support the membership as they work with schools and school networks of all types to develop an international outlook and prepare their learners for life in an increasingly globalised society. Regular inputs from these organisations and opportunities for networking are part of the benefits of membership. The current membership of around 25 includes personnel working in a range of over-lapping contexts. They include international education consultants, Local Authority international co-ordinators and advisers, workers from Development Education Centres and languages specialists. Prior to the 2019 UKGLAS held regular meetings (usually three per annum in London) plus an annual conference. During the pandemic these meetings and conferences were held online. We resumed face to face meetings (with optional virtual attendance) on 18th October 2022. Please see the Membership and Meetings pages for details GLOBAL LEARNING ASSOCIATION (GLA) is the not-for-profit trading arm of UKGLAS established in 2012 (Company number 7468905). UKGLAS membership entitles individuals to apply to become GLA Associates at no extra cost. The GLA is able to bid for commercial contracts and pay suitably qualified Associates for their work. The majority of our Associates are also qualified teachers and some have recent experience of headships or other senior management posts. The GLA has been part of several British Council programmes including all the iterations of Connecting Classrooms. We also held the contract for the assessment of the International School Award up to August 2022 and look forward to bidding into a successor contract in the coming weeks. Our EU work included many Key Action 1 training courses and we hope to re-start these outside of the UK in 2023. We currently manage one of the final EU Erasmus + projects – see www.getcreativewithart.org Many of our Associates are also British Council Ambassadors.

My priority is to guide clients who are individuals or companies to the perfect training solution, and develop new professional standard courses that are reactive and relevant to jewellery industry demand. Dawn Meaden-Johnson _Founder and Directo With the Bespoke Jewellery Training Company I have created a unique business model that provides anyone with access to professional jewellery industry standard training outside of Further Education. I'm a graduate Silversmith of the prestigious School of Jewellery in Birmingham and I have a wide variety of experience over my career in different industry roles. After graduating I began a 10 year stint of experience working at Jewellery Retail sector giants Signet Group, initially working in jewellery sales and customer service, then moving into branch operations, export, marketing and merchandising via their HQ in Birmingham. From 2004-2014 I was back at the School of Jewellery Birmingham City University (BCU) as short courses/external training project manager, working with UK and International clients. For the past five years Dawn has been supporting Graduates and Designer Makers via Jewellery Business Mentoring. In 2017 The Bespoke Jewellery Training Company became an a graduate award sponsor at The School of Jewellery at Birmingham City University (BCU), where upon graduation two graduates per year are selected to receive a 9 month Graduate Jewellery Business Mentoring programme each, delivered by me. In 2022 I became a member of The Guild of Jewellery Designers, Ethical Good Practises Forum. We are working on a subject area of huge importance, and our forum is made up of industry volunteers with a wide range of experience, and our aim is to research, raise awareness and provide guidance to help Jewellers make informed choices for ethical good practise.
