I was sent on a course which transformed my life and I attended a fast track programme to become a managing director. I was fortunate to work for an organisation committed to personal development which facilitated my enrolment in a Masters degree in Change Strategy & Facilitation Skills. Having left school with no more than 4 O Levels that was quite an achievement.

’m Kerry Watson, a psychotherapist, coach, mum, and wife. I support people who are having difficulties in their lives due to anxiety and stress through 1:1 therapy sessions and coaching programmes. I also teach people how to heal themselves and look after their mental wellbeing. I live in Dunfermline, Fife and work UK wide offering in person and online therapy sessions. I hold a Degree in Psychology and am working towards a MSc in Forensic Psychology. I’ve been immersed in self development for over 9 years- learning Psychology, Neuro Linguistic Programming, Eye Movement Therapy, Holistic Wellbeing, Shadow work, Hypnotherapy and more. I am a passionate advocate for mental wellbeing and have been involved in various academic research projects around the topic of military/veteran mental health. In 2018, I was awarded a research internship where I designed and conducted research into "Understanding Military Spouse/Partners Support Needs and Online help seeking strategies". In 2019 I completed the research project "A thematic analysis of the barriers and facilitators which impact Veterans willingness to engage in mental health support services". Both of these projects involved investigating areas of mental health experiences, stigma and toxic masculinity. I hope to publish both of these research papers in the future. Although I do not follow a particular religion, I resonate well with Humanism. Working on my own personal development and wellbeing for over 9 years, I recognise the importance of emotional wellbeing, and this is a key aspect of the way that I work.

The multi award-winning Manhood Academy for Boys was birthed by 8 men who shared a single vision. Following a trip to Gambia by 4 of the co-founders of Manhood Academy, in February 2016 a community call out brought them together in the same room, meeting at an Ethiopian restaurant in South London. At the end of the round table meeting they unanimously chose to “Be the change we wish to see in the world” by collectively establishing The Manhood Academy.Each founder previously holding a distinguished track record in youth work, from a BAFA award winning senior educator to working on the streets of London with urban youth. The Manhood Academy officially launched to the community at Park View Academy, London on October 15th, 2016.A curriculum was co-designed from the collective wealth of experience of the founders, and the nameManhood Academy, Womanhood Academy & Parenthood Academy were coined. Established under the umbrella (CIC) community interest company name: Lifehood Academy on 15 May 2017. The Manhood Academy program was implemented with the intention of exposing our young people to character building experiences, tests and master classes.All geared towards shifting young people’s paradigm, from the chronic news headlines, school disenfranchisement and stereotypes some of our young people manifest as a self-fulfilling prophecy.
