It wasn’t until adult life, after going through a series of experiences which led to a deep depression that I was brought back on to my mat once again and really began a deep understanding and connection to the benefits yoga. I teach at several venues in Hertfordshire and abroad. I am trained in hot yoga but I also teach non-hot and enjoy guiding yogis from early beginners to advanced practitioners. I teach at a range of diverse locations but also at my studio in Abbots Langley. Click here for more information about The Studio. Yoga is a practice for everyone and although my journey as an instructor started as mind rehabilitation and a spiritual journey, utilising breath and mindfulness, I have come to recognise the health benefits for the body. My passion is to constantly learn more and educate myself further to pass this on in my clients.

Russell MacKechnie-Guire holds a PhD in Equine Biomechanics, graduating from the Royal Veterinary College in 2019. Russell’s thesis was titled ‘The Relationship between Saddle and Rider Kinematics, Equine Locomotion, and Thoracolumbar Pressures in Sports Horses’. Russell is based at Centaur Biomechanics, a company which he founded in 2006. He has extensively researched the effect that tack (saddle, bridle and girth) and the rider has on equine health and performance. Russell holds a post at Hartpury University as a Reader in Equine Biomechanics. Russell’s current area of research is horse-saddle-rider interaction, spinal kinematics in horses when ridden over ground, the effect that rider asymmetry has on equine back movement, and from a rehabilitation perspective, the effect that training aids and pole work exercise has on back movement. In addition, Russell collaborates with researchers on various research projects associated with equine health, rehabilitation and performance. Russell is a consultant for the British Equestrian Federations World Class, Team GBR programme and is a member of Team GBR’s Scientific Advisory Group. Russell also sits on the Society of Master Saddlers Scientific Advisory Group, and is part of the executive committee for the International Task force on Laterality in Sports Horses. Russell is also a Pilates instructor, Intrinsic (Human) Biomechanics Trainer, a BHSI equestrian coach, and a keen competitor in dressage and show jumping.

To get started all you need to do is join one of our beginner course that run all year round every year, we are a family school so you will be made welcome nonmatter your background or reason for training. Feel free to just make a note and turn up ready to start on the night in your location of choice or contact the school so we know to expect you as well before hand by phone, txt or email. Once you have started and then complete a beginners course you can then decide if the skill is right for you and if you would like to become a member. This course covers around 16 to 32 hours of training depending how many classes you attend in each location and the aim is to get you to a basic level of understanding so you can identify and develop what's needed as quickly as possible right from the start.
