We envision a world in which children with developmental disabilities are fully able to access the health and education services they need to achieve their full potential. Mission To change the lives of some of the world’s poorest people living with developmental disabilities, and the lives of their families, by improving access to and better quality of healthcare and education services and support. Aims The aim of MAITS is to improve the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable individuals living with disabilities by helping them to reach their full potential, be healthy and have an improved sense of well-being, through access to family support, quality healthcare and education. We do this through a team of trainers from all over the world, who are experienced professionals, and who give their time to provide capacity building, training and resources to those caring for and providing health and education services to individuals with disabilities in community or institutional settings. Our team We do this through a very small staff team, training consultants and a team of qualified volunteers from all over the world, who are experienced healthcare and education professionals. Our volunteers provide training and support to those caring for and providing health and education services to individuals with disabilities in community or institutional settings. We also have a small grants programme which enables training to take place in any location where there is a need globally. The aim is to enable individuals to reach their full potential, with improved health, well-being and quality of life through access to family support, quality healthcare and education. Overview We work with and help some of the most marginalised people globally –those with disabilities living in some of the poorest countries in the world. There are 150 million children living with a disability and of these the majority live in developing countries. Since 2011, we have provided training to 4675 staff working in the disability sector in 21 countries and helped over 600,000 individuals living with disabilities. The people we have trained include therapists, nurses, special educators, staff working in children’s homes and community health workers. Part of our work involves providing training at the grass roots level, to community health workers and care staff, on conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism and learning disabilities to enable early identification, referral to specialists where possible and the provision of home support to promote development and independence, using training packages and tools we have developed specifically. Some of our training can be life-saving, especially in the case of infants and children with feeding difficulties, which often leads to malnutrition, severe respiratory problems and early mortality. With the right training, these consequences can be dramatically reduced, improving the child’s quality of life and their life expectancy. MAITS’ specialists have developed and delivered training and resources for healthcare staff to address this issue, both in children and infants, the latter at the request of medical colleagues working on measures to prevent infant mortality. Our training also provides other innovative solutions to improving the lives of those with disabilities.

We are a friendly and approachable DMT and Trampoline club based at Cambourne Fitness and Sports Centre, Cambridgeshire, who welcome bouncers of all ages and abilities from beginners through to National Competitors. We are registered with British Gymnastics through whom all our coaches and committee are trained and are dedicated to providing positive trampolining opportunities for all within Cambridgeshire and the surrounding areas. How do we operate: Cambourne Comets is run by a committee of volunteers and we employ a number of coaches up to level 3. We believe in communication and accountability and are fully committed to the welfare of the children bouncing with us. Safeguarding: We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. To ensure the welfare and safety of our members the Club has adopted in full the British Gymnastics 'Health, Safety and Welfare' policy, Safeguarding and Protecting Children Policy and their 'Child protection Policy' We have appointed welfare officers who are fully involved in the running of the club and with whom issues can be raised. What days do we train? Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. We also offer Double Mini Trampoline (DMT) sessions on Thursdays at 5.30 pm and 6.30pm. How much does it cost? Sessions cost £5.50 and run for an hour. You will be invoiced at the beginning of each term. We are happy to allow the payments to be spread over the term but ask all accounts are cleared before the last week of the term. We will assume membership is continuing unless we are emailed to confirm cancellation. Payment is done by bank transfer of which details will be sent with invoice. How are the sessions run? Sessions have either 2 or 3 classes running at the same time and bouncers are allocated a coach to suit their skills and needs. We provide one-to-one coaching to ensure we meet the individual needs of the member. Bouncers will take part in a five minute floor warm up at the start of the session, followed by a warm up on the trampoline bed and then they are all set to train. What should you wear? Suitable sports clothing without buttons, zips, toggles, hoods etc that may get caught on the bed Trampoline shoes or socks are a must. Jewellery, watches, badges and anything else that may catch must be removed. Long hair must be tied back. Club Membership: Regular bouncers will be expected to become members of Cambourne Comets Trampoline Club and British Gymnastics (BG). Fees are payable monthly thereafter preferably by standing order. Recreational club membership costs £45 and includes affliation to Eastern Counties Gymnastic Association (ECGA). Taster sessions: We offer a taster session so that you can "try before you buy" where you can come along and meet the coaches and train with other members. There is no charge for the trial session if you decide not to join the club. Holiday sessions: Holiday sessions are handled on a pay as you go basis and must be booked and paid for in advance.

Hello and welcome – thanks for dropping in. My name is Adrian Lloyd although those that know me well find that Ade is what I answer to best. I am a full-time designer, maker and teacher and am passionate about traditional handcrafts. I live and work in North West Cumbria in a tiny farming hamlet nestled mid-way between the northernmost edge of the Lake District National Park and the Solway Coast. Most of my making and teaching takes place in an original threshing barn, one of several historic outbuildings, which, along with our 300-year-old farmhouse, surround a cobbled courtyard. I specialise in creating beautiful, functional, traditional hand-crafted items from green wood (that is wood that looks like a freshly felled tree and still contains all of its moisture) using traditional methods and razor-sharp hand tools like axes and knives. My craft is for everyday use in the kitchen and around the home, it is designed to be used hard and for a long time, hopefully by generations of the same family. I developed my passion for handcraft from a very young age and thrive when being able to ignite a new passion for creativity in others. After a design-based university education, I then spent nearly the next twenty years teaching children and adults in both formal and informal education settings, indoors and out. However, I then took the decision to pursue craft on a full-time basis and now earn my living from all things Slöjd! I have been carving on and off for the best part of probably thirty years and have added turning, furniture making, basket weaving and anything else green wood along the way. I also do some blacksmithing, bladesmithing and tool making and make all of my own bowl turning tools. I can normally be found somewhere along or between the length and breadth of this great island teaching some aspect of this wonderful craft we call greenwood, or holed up bothering some wood in my farmhouse workshop in Cumbria. I try to use only locally sourced British hardwoods in my craft that are harvested from either wind-blown trees or from sustainably managed woodland as part of a natural thinning and woodland regeneration process. I have favourite woods for specific purposes but will generally use any wood that is suitable for the function and form of the piece being worked on. I have a real interest in the way our relationships with the natural environment develop and have studied for qualifications in bushcraft leadership, practical ethnobotany and plant identification, wildlife identification and tracking and woodland management, including the identification and management of veteran trees. I draw on this knowledge and experience to ensure my teaching provides rich, holistic and rewarding learning opportunities. Our story Back in 1991, bored to tears by his job, 23 year old journalist Tom Hodgkinson lay on his bed and dreamed of starting a magazine called The Idler. He’d found the title in a collection of essays by Dr Johnson, himself a constitutionally indolent man. How to live, that was the question. How to be free in a world of jobs and debt? And curse this alarm clock. Tom was fortunately sacked from his job and started to sign on. He wandered across the road to where his old friend, designer and writer Gavin Pretor-Pinney lived. Gavin was the kind of person who could help Tom to realise this dream. And he did. In August 1993, the pair produced issue one of the Idler. It had the sub-title “literature for loafers”. Dr Johnson was the cover star and there was an interview with magic mushroom guru Terence McKenna. Contributors included a young journalist called Louis Theroux (pictured above at the Idler Festival, 2019). The magazine has since enjoyed a number of incarnations. In the nineties it was published by the Guardian newspaper, then by Ebury publishing. Tom published the Idler as an annual collection of essays until 2014, then relaunched the mag in 2016. It is a school which offers online courses in the classical liberal arts and practical skills. From March 2011 to December 2015 we ran a small bookshop, café and event venue in Notting Hill. The Idler Academy teaches philosophy, calligraphy, music, business skills, English grammar, ukulele, public speaking, singing, dancing, drawing, self-defence and other subjects. Here you can educate yourself in the ideas of Plato or learn the ukulele, either online or at an event or retreat. A dancing lesson with the Mudflappers at Festival No 6 The Idler Academy was born at a festival. Founders Tom and his partner Victoria Hull had always been festival-goers, and in 2008 they were invited by the founders of the Secret Garden Party to run a series of literary talks. They were given a yurt and built a medieval garden in the shade of a lime tree. They put on talks from Crass’s Penny Rimbaud, QI’s John Mitchinson, poet Clare Pollard and radical economist Andrew Simms. In 2009 Tom and Victoria took the Idler Academy to the Port Eliot Festival in Cornwall. They have also appeared at Wilderness, Shambala, Byline and the Good Life Experience. We are a relatively small club with about 40 members. A few of these have hung up their dive gear for good and just turn up socially. We consider ourselves pretty friendly, don't take ourselves very seriously and are prone to an occasional bout of "milling around aimlessly". We meet at the K2 Lesiure Centre in Crawley every Thursday. We have use of the pool from 9pm but like to meet up to an hour before for a bit of training, organising the weekends diving or just some general chit-chat. We host a pretty active diving schedule throughout the year including dives off our club boat moored in Littlehampton, trips away to Portland & Dover and training days at Vobster, Wraysbury and other dive centres. COMING SOON As a club we also like to make the effort to get away with trips to the Red Sea, liveraboard voyages in the Maldives and Skiing in France Alongside all the diving, we like to keep our social calendar full. Whether its the Christmas do, Skittles and Pizza evenings or just meeting up for a swim on a Thursday night.
