Screen and Film School Brighton’s Professional Diploma is a 9-month part-time course designed to provide you with the essential skills required to successfully operate in the UK film and TV industry today. The course allows you to specialise in one field or become a self-sufficient freelancer such as a shooting producer director, editor, production coordinator or content creator.

Learn how to make really fun and creative bowls from rope and bits of scrap fabric. I will teach you all you need to know and I will supply all you need to get going. It is SO fun and SO versatile! You decide on the shape, size and colours! This is a very practical and hands on class which will see you making stuff in no time. All tools, use of machines and materials are included. The class will finish around 1pm

In this class we will talk about different kinds of wadding and will learn about the quilting together of all the layers with either straight lines or freemotion stitching. Then we will learn to bind our mini quilts (bring the mini quilt tops we created in earlier classes, or bring your own) Wadding and thread all included in the price, as well as a copy of my In Stitches sewing handbook. This 5 Day Screen Acting Essentials course held at the World Famous Pinewood Studios has been crafted for those who are committed to improving and developing their knowledge in a practical setting on camera. Over the week you will build camera awareness, understand shot sizes and how they impact performance, hitting marks, script analysis and audition tips. Filming footage throughout the week you will receive immediate feedback from the experienced Directors and see progression to a confidence that can be applied both in self-tapes and on set. Course Outline Screen Acting Essentials Your Week On Camera The course aims to help actors leave feeling prepared and confident in their new skills enabling them to deliver better performances on screen. Day 1: The Technicals Learn and Practice the basic technical skills an actor needs to master to perform successfully in front of the camera. Understand the differences between acting for stage and screen. Topics include: shot sizes, continuity, eye-lines, vocal control, physicality and hitting marks. Day 2: Understanding The Script & Character Development Learn techniques and methods to successfully analyse a script in order to create inspirational and authentic characters. Developing characters you will identify their arc, and find contrast even within a page of script underpinned by voice, diction, physicality and improvisation skills. Day 3: Working on a Film Set To raise your awareness on a film set, you will participate in filming as members of the crew including sound, script supervising and Directing to really understand the challenges of each role and it you should communicate as an actor. You will also film a scene as part of this role-play process. Day 4: Audition Technique Understand how you should prepare for a screen audition. Experience the casting process most commonly in use today and how to avoid the pitfalls of interview ‘overkill’, preparing you for your next audition. Day 5: Lights, Camera, Action Implementing everything you have learned throughout the week, you will film a scene with a crew. This course is ideal for all, from beginners to confident makers. You will learn the basics of leather craft for accessories and be introduced to techniques including machine stitching on leather, hand finishing leather, inserting hardware and decorative leather techniques. You will be working with a sustainably sourced lush vegetable tanned leather. This is a perfect introductory or taster course to start your journey into leather craft. In order to complete your purse in a day we will use part pre-cut parts and the purse will be made from a ‘Hands of Tym’ pattern but do not fear there is still plenty of work for you to do. During the day you will be directed by your tutor Leathersmith and London College of Fashion Lecturer Georgie Tym to make a ‘raw edge’ ‘concertina’ small leather purse with small internal pocket and a flap closure. There will be one small stud to keep the purse closed and the opportunity to personalise with initials and a small design of your choice. The dimensions of the purse are H130mm x W 95mm x D 10mm and it will be the same construction as the purse in the photos featured. The course will be run from the home studio of Hands Of Tym in Banbury, Oxfordshire, OX16 9DHParking available on the drive with easy access via the M40. Banbury train station is a 30 min walk. Trains run from both London Marylebone and Birmingham to Banbury in 50mins. Also well connected to Reading, Oxford, Leamington Spa to name a few. Maximum class size is 5 What's included in the price? Learn how to cut and stitch a variety of fun improv quilt blocks in this one day workshop. There will be a further patchwork class on 18th November, a free motion stitching and appliqué class on 25th November and a final workshop on 9th December to learn to put the quilt sandwich together, and bind it.
