Meet Nikita Phadnavis Soft Skills & Emotional Intelligence Trainer (Master of Business Administration & Economics) Parenting & Life Design Coach (Early Years Professional and a Certified Life Coach) Global Thought Leader, GFEL 2019 & Entrepreneurship Award winner, Santander 2020 Nikita's Story Nikita is a polyglot who has over 15 years of experience working in 7 different countries. She has worked on government, and United Nations-backed projects with delegates from over 72 countries, has hosted television shows to raise social awareness in Japan and Ukraine and co-founded a charity in India to bring about reforms in education. She has travelled to almost 60 countries and takes a keen interest in the lives and cultures of people. Nikita recently received recognition for her work in the field of education and training as ‘Top 100 Leaders in Education’ from the Global Forum for Education and Learning. She has worked with people of all backgrounds, cultures and ages – right from babies to adults. Her wealth of experiences enables her to engage with people from all walks of life. Nikita works in London as an Educational Consultant providing training and advice to international schools and private and voluntary sector institutions. She has transformed ‘inadequate’ rated schools into ‘good’ (Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills inspection in England). She genuinely cares about the families she works with and uses creative ways to meet their unique needs. For example, at one of the schools, Nikita created a bespoke software to enable the staff to accurately track children’s progress and communicate it with their parents, while reducing unnecessary paperwork. In her spare time, she volunteers in orphanages and charities supporting underprivileged children in Romania. Nikita delivers corporate staff training on the very contemporary topic of Emotional Intelligence and Wellbeing. She firmly believes that as adults, we need to think of our wellbeing, to benefit ourselves and to enable us to support people in our care. Nikita also trains parents and teachers on this very topic, which is also a topic of her doctoral research. She firmly believes that it’s never too early or too late to think of emotional literacy. Nikita has a master’s degree in business and economics and is a qualified teacher with post-graduate qualifications in Froebelian and Montessori philosophy and psychology. She has done several other pieces of training in the field of education to support children with special needs. She is trained as a forest school leader, a first aider and as a safeguarding lead. She is a certified Life Coach, and a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist and Nero-Linguistic Programming practitioner. She feels passionate about education, and her vision is to help people attain their potential by connecting with their own emotions and having healthy relationships. I'm a mum of two, and a certified Relaxation & Sophrology Therapist based in Kings Heath and Stirchley in Birmingham, UK -consulting online and in-person, in French and English, for stress & anxiety management, pregnancy and birth preparation, children, sleep issues, mindset coaching and self-development, and life transitions and challenges. ‍ My Approach ‍ Sophro by Nature was born from my passion for People and Nature, and my desire to promote a healthier and deeper connection between our body and mind, and the world around us. Sophro comes from the Greek "Sos" and "Phren" meaning awareness/balance of the Body-mind connection, and "by Nature" refers to the fact that this connection/awareness is natural - but with life's busyness we tend to forget about it. It also refers to my passion for bringing therapy to the outdoors. ‍ I use relaxation therapy along a holistic therapeutic method - called sophrology - that combines classic relaxation techniques with mindset coaching, and which blends the best of Western science (hypnotherapy, positive & behavioural psychology, relaxation techniques, guided imagery, counselling skills) and Eastern traditions (mindfulness, yoga, breathing, visualisation, meditation) to balance the body-mind connection and provide a more serene approach to life challenges. (see FAQ for more info on Sophrology). ‍ All the techniques I use are advocated for by the NHS on their website and have been shown to be effective by research studies - my own background is grounded in science with a (honour) MSc in Environmental Studies and Ecotourism from Edinburgh Napier University. I've also spent over 400 hours in training and supervised therapy for two years in a state-accredited school in France to become a Relaxation and Sophrology Therapist :) ‍ About Me After I became a mum for the first time in the US, I was looking for a new way of being a working mother. When we moved to Luxembourg, I set up a project coming from my heart: working with children and families. This led me to create my own Professional Training Center in Language Development and Nature Education in Luxembourg. Thanks to this experience, I've worked with people of all ages, walks of life, cultures and nationalities - parents and babies, young children with special needs, mums and dads to be, grandparents, language therapists, and early-years educators. ‍ Working with parents and children also naturally led me to understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle, general well-being, and stress management. This is what started my life-long mission, and prompted me to train as a Relaxation and Sophrology Therapist: to provide support and ways to alleviate stress-related issues that I witnessed - much too often - in people's daily lives. My own experience living and working in various countries with different cultures expanded my cultural and diversity sensitivity - this is why I chose to specialise in children, families, and especially expatriates/immigrants and Third Culture Kids. What I love most about my work is the flexible and therapeutic nature of the methods I use; one day I can prepare a pregnant mum for birth and dealing with pain and fear, the day after I can help a child deal with stress and anxiety, the next day I can help a client improve sleep issues, and the following day I can provide emotional and pain relief to someone going through chemotherapy... It is never boring and always feels so rewarding! As a holistic practitioner, I enjoy taking into account all aspect of your life(style), so that I can provide tools and techniques to empower but also lead to another way of being yourself - a happier and healthier self :) I've always be a Nature lover (I was a Climbing Instructor and trained in Primitive Skills and Nature Education too), and I combine this important value of mine with relaxation and sophrology when I design sessions for my clients, as I firmly believe that the natural world - our world - is a great source of appeasement. In my spare time, I enjoy running, gardening, spending time in Nature, photography, reading, crafting with my kids, and experimenting with fermented food.

Complementing the ‘Zones of Regulation’, or as a stand alone self regulation technique, Snappy Tappy® provides a practical and accessible method for children and young people to modify/calm the emotions they are feeling ‘in the moment’ or ‘after the event’, to help them feel LESS;  • anxious  • angry  • fearful  • frustrated  • overwhelmed  • shame  • hurt  or any other emotion which is distracting them, pre occupying them or preventing them being ‘in  the green zone’ or in a balanced emotional state.     Snappy Tappy® which is an adaptation of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is an evidence-  based modality. It is often referred to as Tapping by practitioners and users because that is what  we do.    Tapping works with the body’s internal energy systems similar to Acupuncture. However, where  Acupuncture uses needles, Tapping uses stimulation of the meridians using gentle finger tapping  pressure, while simultaneously focussing on the current difficulty. This dual attention helps your  brain process whatever might be troubling you.    Snappy Tappy® training takes place over two sessions both 3-4 hours long. The initial training introduces the background to Tapping, examines other adaptations of EFT and gets you ready for your own Snappy Taps and case studies. These are then reviewed 2 months later and you’re on your way to helping children and young people with Snappy Tappy®. Your licence is valid for 1 calendar year and can be renewed following a yearly check in and CPD.     Meet the trainer:   Miriam is the author and creator of Snappy Tappy® and uses daily in her workplace within education. Drawing from the international research and literature and our own experience over many years as educational psychologists of the challenges of children with major social and emotional needs, we will explore together what the best practice can and could look like. We explore the language of attachment and outline very practical classroom strategies. We look at what Psychology may help us in our understanding of children who have faced issues with love and attachment. We explore the feelings of being on a desolate island of relational poverty or to imagine swimming with sharks. We explore the themes of violence, anxiety and experience of being a victim as young people grow older. We look at telling lies and explore how we can respectfully understand this. We reveal the new and innovative compass of vulnerability – the cognitive errors to which some are much more vulnerable. We look at triggers, self regulation and unpack a range of strategies.  Transference and counter transference are examined along with splitting, handling projected feelings, constancy and permanence. We explore what young people with these difficulties really need from us. We also spend time looking at the emotional impact on practitioners working with children with such needs and what helps at an personal and team level.
