University Technical Colleges (UTCs) are government-funded schools with a science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) focus. They provide a unique and relevant approach to education, which addresses the changing needs of students and employers in the 21st century. UTCs were established by companies and universities in areas of high demand for talent. Alongside national curriculum teaching, UTCs also offer sought-after vocational and technical qualifications, and benefit from industry-standard equipment and specialist staff to provide students with skills that are valued by employers. The UTC curriculum has a strong emphasis on ‘real life’ project-based learning, which engages students and develops their personal character. Because of this unique offer, UTCs allow for a broad choice of pathways when a student reaches 18 years old: university, higher or degree apprenticeships, or directly into a career.

Get to know us a little more and find out who you need to speak to below. You never know what you might discover! Michelle is our Managing Director. If you’ve met her then you will already know what she is about. In fact, she has probably got you involved in the quest to inspire and engage our young people. If you’ve yet to met her…then what are you waiting for? There is always cake on standby. Always one for the non-traditional approach Michelle began her career as an apprentice Gas Service Engineer in the early 90's and was quickly identified as one to watch. Moving swiftly through the ranks she swapped her gas van for a BMW and began the challenge of management in a large organisation. Fast forward a few years & the first incarnation of the company, MerseySTEM was born out of the need to take action to provide a translation and engagement service between industry & education that is honest, effective & innovative. As the reputation and geography of 'her patch' grew All About STEM became the natural successor and the new name and vision was launched in 2016. Merseyside and beyond!! Businesses need to attract new talent in a fast paced technological world and schools need to equip our young people for the future at the same pace. But, critically, both are often inundated with information whilst facing their own sectors’ evolving challenges.

Entrepreneur, Content Creator and Author - Contrary to most entrepreneurs, I did not have a rough start growing up, however I did not have a silver spoon in my mouth either. I always had been entrepreneurial, however I struggled with creating a consistent income in order to support myself. After attending Uni, I bounced around multiple jobs. I worked at Apple and as one of their top sales people, they even had me teach groups of 90+ employees on how to deal with customers. Despite my success, I felt like I needed to get a "real career" so, I went into the corporate sales workforce, and quickly grew tired of the early mornings, long train rides, and constant repetition of the same bloody tasks. It was around this time that I discovered Amazon FBA and launched my first couple of products, I was still working my corporate 9-5 and would check my sales during lunch breaks and during my trips to the bathroom. Eventually, I was generating consistent results, so I decided to quit my job and go full time with FBA. After many months of my sales increasing, other people I knew who were doing FBA came to me asking for advice and mentorship. It dawned on me, why don't I create a full academy where I train students on how to get results with FBA? This was the start of the Seller Pro Academy, and since it's launch we have seen multiple students break 6 figures a year, which truly humbles and broadens my goals. I hope to see you inside the academy and hopefully to be apart of our 10K club!

Fixation Performing Arts Academy is run by Academy Directors Laura Davitt & Carly Pryke. Fixation was founded in 2012 by Laura Davitt, who created an artistic company of trained performing arts professionals and youth workers to create opportunities for young people and adults to participate in the performing arts and develop new skills in a safe and collaborative environment. In 2014 now Academy Director Carly joined the team that Laura had created and together with over 30 years of combined teaching and performing experience, they formed what we now know as Fixation Academy of Performing Arts. Fixation Academy is a welcoming place for all to flourish, learn and grow. Our team of professionals use their extensive knowledge of the performance industry to provide quality training in disciplines acting, singing, dance, drama and musical theatre for ages 4-18 and adults. Our aim for each person that comes through our doors is to have fun, build confidence, make new friends, learn new skills and express themselves through the arts. Whether you see the performing arts as a fun hobby or potential career path, Fixation Academy is a place for students to discover and shine. We aim to give each child the skills and training necessary to turn their own dreams into a reality. At our Academy students benefit from weekly term time classes that work towards annual full-scale productions, in house shows and other public performances such as community festivals and competitions throughout the year. Fixation Academy of Performing Arts also gives students the opportunity to progress through their exam grades with LAMDA and the Royal Academy of Dance.

After a career of teaching music in Scottish schools, I took up pottery at night classes and became hooked enough to complete a B.A . Hons in Ceramics at the iconic Glasgow School of Art. It was here that I made many connections with wonderful potters the world over, and received a brilliant education in this magical material. I aim to show my delight in ceramic form , texture and colour with great attention to detail and concern for the practical use of functional pieces. I also love to experiment with the expressive and imaginative possibilities of glaze in purely abstract work. From 2007 -2019 my husband and I lived in Stromness, in the Northern Isles of Orkney. Here we were drawn by an amazing landscape, constant reminders of its Neolithic past, and by its unique cultural and natural heritage. Grounded in agriculture and fishery, submitting to the limitations of island life and the often very challenging weather, there is a discipline in living here which corresponds to working with clay- one cannot control everything but must work with what is given. In 2019 we moved south to the Scottish Borders to be closer to family. From being surrounded by sea, we are now in the most landlocked area of Scotland and surrounded by trees!
