Theatre in Schools Scotland brings bold, inspiring, live theatre and dance productions into Scotland's primary schools and nurseries.  The year-round programme of touring performances offers schools and teachers the opportunity to present acclaimed shows, created especially for younger audiences, for pupils at school. Performances take place in the school hall or in classrooms and are available to book anywhere in Scotland. This year, Theatre in Schools Scotland is thrilled to welcome One of Two and Ginger to the programme plus Poggle and Me made especially for ASN pupils. The new Theatre in Schools Scotland 2024 - 25 programme of performances for nursery, primary and ASN schools is now on sale and available to book. BOOKING NOW GINGER: (Tortoise in a Nutshell) uses puppetry, magic and play to tell the tale of a misshapen gingerbread person, discarded and marked for the bin, inspiring a picture-perfect kitchen to come alive. Touring Autumn 2024 and Winter 2025. For P1-P4 ONE OF TWO: Jack Hunter/Independent Arts Projects) is a one-man comedy drama about two twins growing up with cerebral palsy. Each twin had a very different experience navigating childhood and school. This award-winning autobiographical show celebrates disability and diversity. Touring Autumn 2024. For P7 & S1-S2 POGGLE AND ME: (Barrowland Ballet) was created with and for pupils with complex needs such as autism and invites audiences to join Poggle, a friendly creature, on a sensory and interactive adventure through the forest. Touring Spring 2025. BOOKING NOW MESS (Tenterhooks/Scottish Theatre Producers) is a bold, playful and emotionally engaging theatre performance made especially for young audiences with complex additional support needs, featuring comedy, surprise, celebration and mild peril! Touring Sep - Oct 2023. For ASN pupils THE LAST FORECAST (Bridie Gane/Catherine Wheels ) is a dance theatre production for younger audiences about Gail, a gecko-like creature who lives alone on an island. When a stranger arrives to set up home the forecast is for rising water levels, and soon there won’t be space for either of them. Touring Oct - Nov 2023. For P2 - P4 CLOUD MAN (Constellation Points/Scottish Theatre Producers) is a cleverly staged show with puppets, storytelling and lots of clouds. The show encourages a school audience to notice the beauty and wonder found in everyday life.Touring Oct - Nov 2023 & Jan - Feb 2024. For Nursery - P3 GOING FOR GOLD: ME AND LINFORD CHRISTIE (Victoria Beesley/Catherine Wheels) is a show about one girl’s journey to Olympic success. Inspired by Victoria Beesley’s childhood obsession with athletics this is a story about loving failure and dreaming big.Touring Jan - Mar 2024. This accredited One-Day Qualification meets the requirements of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982. The Certificate is valid for 3 years and will expire from the date on the certificate. Children’s First Aid • Mini Medics First Aid & Mental Health Training Courses for Children At APLUS Medical Services & Training, we believe everyone should have access to quality Medical Training. Whether you’re a parent, a teacher, a student or simply someone who wants to learn Life-Saving Skills, we have the right course for you. Our Children’s First Aid training courses are designed with the unique needs of children in mind. We understand that children are not just small adults – they have specific medical needs and emergencies that require specialised knowledge and skills. Our Children’s First Aid courses cover a wide range of topics, including CPR for Infants and Children, Choking Prevention and Intervention, Wound Care, and recognising signs of common childhood illnesses and conditions. Our experienced Instructors provide hands-on training during the Children’s First Aid Courses using child-sized mannequins and other equipment specifically designed for Paediatric First-Aid training. This ensures that our trainees are well-prepared to handle real-life emergencies involving children.

Birmingham Settlement are running a programme of training sessions between April and July 2024. How best to support mental health recovery. Trauma Informed Practice May 14th 9.30am – 12.45pm (Nature & Wellbeing Centre, Ladywood) Training will include: What is trauma? Symptoms of trauma. Impact of trauma on children. Understanding the impact of Adverse Childhood experiences. Key principles of trauma informed practice. Managing work stress and undertaking self-care. Professional Boundaries May 23rd 9.15am – 12.30pm (Sports & Community Centre, Kingstanding) Training will include: What are professional boundaries and why are they important? Professional vs Personal boundaries and how they differ. How trauma impacts personal power and the ability to establish boundaries. Signs of boundary violations. How boundaries support wellbeing. Conflict Resolution June 6th 9.15am – 12.30pm (Sports & Community Centre, Kingstanding) Training will include: Defining conflict and exploring the risks vs the benefits of conflict. Looking at anger and aggression. Understanding how the brain responds to threat and danger. Exploring the practical communication strategies effective in the prevention and de-escalation of conflict. Learning to respond rather than react. Equality, Diversity & Inclusion June 11th 9.30am – 12.45pm (Nature & Wellbeing Centre, Ladywood) Training will include: The Equality Act and protected characteristics. Different forms of discrimination. How ‘membership’ of specific groups might bring advantage or disadvantage. Understanding the ‘multi layered’ nature of discrimination. Understanding how diversity and inclusion can positively impact and change what we do. Dementia Awareness July 9th 9.30am – 12.45pm (Nature & Wellbeing Centre, Ladywood) Training will include: What is dementia? The different types of dementia. The signs and symptoms of dementia. Risk reduction strategies. Benefits of early diagnosis. Barriers to diagnosis, treatment, and support. How we can help. Disability Awareness July 18th 9.15 – 12.30pm (Sports & Community Centre, Kingstanding) Training will include: Defining disability, disability as a social construct, non-visible disabilities. Barriers facing those with disabilities and the positive actions and reasonable adjustments we all can make to create more inclusive and less discriminatory environments.

This hands-on, practical course gives parents, grandparents, and carers the confidence to handle common childhood emergencies. Learn lifesaving skills including CPR, the recovery position, and how to respond to choking, bleeding, burns, head injuries, anaphylaxis, asthma, meningitis, and more. Taught in a friendly and accessible way, this course is ideal for anyone who wants to feel prepared and calm in a crisis. Babies and are welcome to attend the course. We don't mind if they need feeding, changing etc. Our space is welcoming and friendly - and we are passionate about you being able to access the course, not having to have the extra hassle of arranging childcare.
