Earth Day is coming up on April 22nd, and this year we're turning it into Earth Month! Join us throughout April for activities that support environmental protection. Let's all get involved and make a difference! We are holding a Biogen Recycle Day in the Dublin office (Citywest) on the 22nd April. Whether you're at the office or working from home, it’s easy to accumulate old or broken office equipment. That’s why we’ve dedicated April 22nd as our Recycle Day. What You Can Recycle: Paper (shredding available onsite) Ink Cartridges Small Batteries IT Accessories (e.g. mouse, keyboard, etc.) Date: April 22, 2025 Location: Dublin Office Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. We’ll have different bins set up for each category, so it’s easy to drop off your items. And don’t worry if you can't make it on April 22nd – you can still bring your recyclables to the office throughout the month of April! Our staff also had a great success. Clover is a European championship junior body board semi finalist 2018. Josh is a senior finalist in 2017 (the first ever Scottish surfer to make a final). Sam was also Scottish junior team coach in Morrocco European Championships 2016, with Scotland finishing 9th their best result to date. Community and the environment are central to our vision for the next decade. We created a new surf club for local kids called Belhaven Surf Club. We’ve done our first carbon footprint audit and put in place strategies to work towards net zero.

A world leading energy performance test facility. The built environment accounts for 40% of the UK’s carbon footprint and to achieve net zero will require a step change in the design of new buildings but also, more importantly, it will require a comprehensive upgrade and retrofit programme to the existing housing stock; the UK Green Building Council estimates that 80% of the 2050 building stock has already been built. At a cost of £16m, the construction of Energy House 2.0 is being supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Office for Students.

As such, Company Owners Steven Mclean and Charlotte Knight in partnership with The National Trust are planting 500 square meters of woodland in the UK to help offset our carbon footprint and also to help ensure UK woodlands keep on flourishing. Our aim is to double this each subsequent year and who knows eventually we may well have just planted a forest (stay tuned)! Further to this, to be more sustainable and socially responsible, our company promise to wherever possible use local independent businesses for our business supplies, travel and accommodation. We recognise as a family-run business, that now more than ever in these uncertain economic times that independent small businesses need our (and others’) support and it is up to us all to help in this. As a national company, our instructors travel large distances and as such our company has a policy of staying locally rather than travelling back and forth up the motorways to minimise our fuel consumption and carbon footprint. We use small independent companies for our accommodation wherever possible, such as independent hotels and B&Bs in the location of our work and use local amenities. In addition to this, we are going as paperless as humanely possible, invoices/remittances are no longer printed but entirely emailed and some of our exam papers are now totally digital. This is something we continue to improve. Our staff even take notes on iPads when meeting with clients rather than notebooks and pens.
