Work opportunities at Area 43 (Cardigan Youth Project). A charity, which runs a Drop-in Centre in Cardigan, providing information, support & training to young people aged 16-25 & counselling services to those aged 10-30. Developing and providing a broad range of support services for young people, our aims are to: Enable children and young people to develop self-esteem and a positive approach to their lives and their place in society. To encourage them to participate in learning experiences and decision-making processes that impact their lives and their communities. Address and combat the problems they face in their home circumstances, relationships, social and life experiences, paying particular attention to those challenged by homelessness, unemployment, substance/alcohol misuse, criminality and discrimination. We are especially interested in working with those who are socially, educationally, economically or geographically disadvantaged or have any sort of disability. Provide young people with real learning opportunities both formal and informal that encourage and allow them to fulfill their potential. To co-operate with and share good practice and experience with agencies (both statutory and non-statutory) who provide services for young people and to forge links and represent the needs and aspirations of young people within their communities and to the government. St Dogmaels is special, it takes you by the hand and won’t let go… I found myself here a few years ago, literally! I became involved in so many wonderful things, the quirky and fabulous Singing Village, learning to drum on my Bougarabou, writing poetry with PENfro Poets, reading in the local Cellar Bar in Cardigan, sailing and coxing the local celtic longboats. I also enjoy photography and took the photographs you see on this website. The creativity this place engenders is unique. St Dogmaels is home to so many wonderful artists, writers and crafts people. We are in an area of outstanding beauty, with a fabulous beach, the cliff path, hidden coves, wonderful countryside, how can you not be creative? I wanted to share that, and Creative Coastal Breaks offer the opportunity for your group to have that very special break, to relax and be inspired in this unique place. Come and join us. Croeso!

Welcome to Stitching Kitchen the friendly and supportive studio where Textile Artist Hannah Thompson encourages everyone to have fun with fabric, thread and fluff!  Lots of textile based crafts and sewing, quilting and dressmaking workshops.  A well stocked haberdashery with dressmaking fabrics and craft kits and supplies also available tin the studio.

The Education Committee recommended at its meeting of 21 August 1997 that – ‘the adoption of a distinctive dress code chosen to enhance the ethos of the school should be encouraged in all schools’. Given that there is substantial parental and public approval of uniform, schools in Argyll and Bute are free to encourage the wearing of school uniform. In Strone Primary School, the suggested uniform is as follows: BOYS: Strone School sweatshirt (which is bright red and bears the school logo, plain red jumper or cardigan.) Black or grey trousers. White shirt or school polo shirt Black School Shoes GIRLS: Strone School sweatshirt (which is bright red and bears the school logo, plain red jumper or cardigan.) Black or grey skirts or trousers. White blouse or school polo shirt Black School Shoes PE KIT: T-shirt, shorts, training shoes. Indoor and outdoor training shoes required. T-shirt and training shoes should be kept in a bag with pupil’s name on it. At Strone Primary we use the outdoor environment as a valuable resource for our curriculum. The children are frequently outdoors and therefore we would ask that they all have a pair of wellies that they can keep in school. We are able to provide waterproof jackets and trousers for all our pupils. Please note that school uniform is not compulsory and it is not policy to insist on pupils wearing uniform or having specialist items of clothing in order to engage in all of the activities of the curriculum. As such, pupils will not be deprived of any educational benefit as a result of not wearing uniform. However, there are forms of dress which are unacceptable in school, such as items of clothing which: potentially encourage faction (such as football colours); could cause offence (such as anti-religious symbolism or political slogans); could cause health and safety difficulties (such as loose fitting clothing, dangling earrings); are made from a flammable material, for example shell suits in practical classes; could cause damage to flooring; carry advertising, particularly for alcohol or tobacco; and could be used to inflict damage on other pupils or be used by others to do so. All clothing brought to school should be labelled or marked in some way, as it is difficult for children to distinguish their own clothing from others. School Clothing Grants Grants of £100 are available for any child who will attend an Argyll and Bute Council school and whose parent(s) receive: Income Support Income Based Job Seekers Allowance Income related element of employment and Support allowance Council Tax or Housing Benefit Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit (Income should not exceed £6900) Pupils aged between 16 and 18 years who receive any of the above benefits in their own right also qualify.
