Join us for a day of dressmaking with our tutor Emma Smith.Emma has a wealth of dressmaking experience and teaches for sewing studios and pattern company retreats across the UK. &nbsp;&nbsp;
Learn how to adjust a printed pattern to fit you. &nbsp;Emma will teach you how to measure your body and create a toile/muslin in order to get a perfect fit to your trousers.We will be making the Eve Trousers by Merchant and Mills and a copy of the pattern [worth &pound;16] will be included in the workshop cost.&nbsp;

 

The workshop will cover

You&rsquo;ll make a muslin/toile and then be able to make further adjustments to your pattern. &nbsp;Sheeting and pattern paper will be provided. &nbsp;You may wish to start to make the final version in your chosen fabric. &nbsp;You will need a medium weight canvas or twill, another choice could be corduroy or denim. &nbsp;You can make the Eve in a lighter weight fabric but the shape of the trouser will be more fluid. &nbsp; &nbsp;Requirements for each size are listed in one of the pictures.&nbsp;
If you have any questions please ask - otherwise book yourself on to a day of learning how to make a pair of trousers to fit.&nbsp;Bring your sewing machine, basic sewing kit, fabric (bundles available from Stitching Kitchen) and lunch to nibble, we will keep you going with tea and cake! &nbsp;&nbsp;

Learn how to adjust a printed pattern to fit you. Emma will teach you how to measure your body and create a toile/muslin in order to get a perfect fit to your trousers.

What's included
You will receive a copy of the Emerson Trousers pattern by True Bias, please let me know if you would need larger size range [Hip over 46”/118cm] which is only available as a PDF - we will get a copy printed for you on A0 and also the instruction book

Toile fabric and dressmakers tracing paper will be provided.

No need to bring your sewing machine as the studio is equipped with Janome and Pfaff machines. A sewing kit is also provided. 




What to bring

You will need a medium weight canvas or twill, another choice could be corduroy or denim. You can make the Emerson in a lighter weight fabric but the shape of the trouser will be more fluid. Requirements for each size are listed in the pictures above.

Important : 

If your hip and waist measurements fall outside of the range of the printed pattern [over 46”/118cm] let use know and we can make arrangements so you can have access to the other size range.
We have planned the workshop so you will get your fit right and may well finish your final garment but due to the differences in our bodies and sewing abilities you may take longer, don't worry, you have the pattern to keep and the support of the team to finish at home or another day. 




Please note that this workshop is held in our light and spacious first floor studio at Stitching Kitchen, which is accessible by stairs.

Medication Awareness training is mandatory for all staff who are prompting or assisting clients to take their medications.
About this event
Medication Awareness training is for staff who have had never taken part in Medication training before or staff returning to the profession.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
Understand medication types and uses
Learn legal and ethical responsibilities
Master medication administration procedures
Know proper storage and disposal methods
Recognize and respond to adverse effects
Develop communication and record-keeping skills
Apply person-centred approaches

Before you book:
Please do not send along staff who have just worked a nightshift or who will be visiting clients immediately before or immediately after a training session. People arriving tired, stressed or late cannot gain the most benefit from a training course. We reserve the right to turn away individuals too exhausted to focus on the training or staff who turn up late for a course and disturb the flow of the proceedings.
All CH Care Training courses are fully inclusive, but if you have any concerns about a member of staff's ability to participate because of physical, sensory or learning differences then please let us know in confidence in advance, so that we may make the appropriate adjustments.

Cancellations
CH Care Training operates a sliding scale of cancellation; If you cancel more than two weeks before the start date of a course, you can ask for a full refund, to change the names of the delegates being sent along, or to transfer a delegate to another training date. If you give less than two weeks but more than one week's notice of cancellation, 50 percent of the booking can be refunded. If you cancel less than a week from the training delivery date we wont be able to refund. There are no refunds for staff who do not turn up on the day of the training course.
If CH Care Training needs to change the date or cancel a course for any reason we will give you the maximum notice we can. In exceptional circumstances we may cancel a course due to extreme weather or circumstances at the training venue. You will be offered a full refund or the opportunity to transfer your booking to an alternative date.

Please ask your staff to read the following guidance before they attend the course:
Arriving at the Venue
The course will start promptly so please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time of the training to allow plenty of time to use the toilet, and be seated ready for the start of the course.
You can call Training direct on 0798 999 5180 if you are struggling to arrive on time. Please note that the meeting will be locked to late arrivals 10 minutes after the actual course starts.
When you arrive please come into Reception and a member of staff will come to book you in prior to directing you to the training room. This room is located on the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible.

Covid-Secure Premises
Please do not attend the course if you have symptoms of Covid or are feeling unwell. 

During the course
As this is a working environment please ensure you allow the necessary time and focus to get the best from the material being presented. Please bring pen and paper to make notes during the course. Our training sessions are fun and very interactive. We will encourage plenty of comments, points of view and the sharing of lived experiences. Delegates should not share any sensitive information about a client or organisation. Our session agreement asks delegates to maintain confidentiality about individuals and organisations and to respect the views of others on the course.
All CH Care Training courses are inclusive, but if you have any concerns about your ability to participate, such as sensory or learning differences then please let the Trainer know in confidence before the start of a course, so that they may make the appropriate adjustments.
If the course contains practical elements such as Moving & Handling or First Aid, then please wear appropriate clothing to take part in these activities. You will be asked confidentially if you have any health concerns that could prevent you from taking part in the practical activities. Please let a Trainer know if you have any concerns about taking part in the practical courses.
Refreshments are provided for free. Please bring a packed lunch for any full-day courses.

After the course
We will email you a pdf of the course once the training has finished and we have checked that everyone was able to join. If your Manager booked you onto the course using your work or personal email, or if you book yourself onto a course, you will receive the pdf directly. If your Manager booked you onto the course using your organisation’s email address a copy of the course will be available on request from your Manager.
We will also email a link to an online evaluation and we ask that you please fill this in and return it to us so that we can continue to improve our services. All of our evaluations are gathered anonymously.

Una is a Rights Agent at Susanna Lea Associates and am starting to build a client list. 

She grew up in London and graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA in English in 2021. At university, Una was particularly interested in contemporary West African and South Asian literature. She started as an agent's assistant at SLA London in 2022 and now handles some translation rights and provides support with editorial work and submissions.

Una's favourite reads always set her at ease right away and draws her in with impressive and accessible storytelling, memorable characters or an original hook. Una enjoys writing which expands her worldview, makes her laugh out loud or keeps her on her toes with its twists and turns. She welcomes submissions from debut authors and would be keen to read across a wide range of genres and styles.

She is looking for literary, upmarket and book club fiction, and is always drawn to stories that explores the challenges and complexities of love and relationships in all its forms —within families, between friends or in romantic relationships. Una loves the way in which familial relationships are dissected in The Wren, The Wren by Anne Enright and the impact of the local community in Small Worlds by Caleb Azumah Nelson. She is always drawn to novels with a strong sense of community, whether they are unified by geography, culture, or in other unexpected ways.

Una has always loved reading international and translated fiction and welcomes submissions from authors writing contemporary fiction that engages with cultures and traditions from around the world, such as in voices of the deities in Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi or the subversive tales of Sayaka Murata. 

She is not looking for children’s or YA titles, science fiction or high-concept fantasy, but is open to submissions from authors writing in the speculative fiction space, and books with fantastical or otherworldly elements, be that magical realism or supernatural horror, such as Mona Awad's campus novel with a twist, Bunny. Una would also love to read more writing that engages with the natural world and reminds us of the limitations of human understanding.

In non-fiction, Una enjoys books that furthers her understanding of wider societal issues — nature and the environment, culture, and little-known history. Her recent non-fiction favourites are Eve by Cat Bohannon, Doppelgänger by Naomi Klein and Unearthed by Claire Ratinon.

To be eligible to sit your first exam, you have to complete your electronic Record of Experience (eROE). The eROE has to be submitted to your tutor by 31st Jan for March exam, and 31st August for November exam.

City &amp; Guilds 2392 10 level 2 Certification is achieved on successful completion of both the practical assessment and PC based examination. A four day course for a student possessing a working knowledge of the wiring regulations, to the level of City and Guilds 2382. We strongly recommend City and Guilds 2382 is achieved prior to sitting this City &amp; Guilds 2392 10 level 2 course, though this is NOT an entry requirement. The City &amp; Guilds 2392 10 level 2 exam is a PC based multiple choice examination has 50 questions, is 1 hour 40 mins long and is closed book, with instant result. City &amp; Guilds 2391-52 course runs over five consecutive days, the first three days covering fundamental theory. The fourth day covering Initial Verification practical and revision. This Healthcare Practice Course is designed for students preparing to start a career in the healthcare sector or currently working as a carer / healthcare assistant and looking to add an accredited qualification to their C.V.

Complete this easy-to-follow Healthcare Practice Course on your computer, mobile phone, kindle or tablet and in your own time. The course can be completed in stages - you have 8 weeks to complete the course in full. Once completed you will immediately be able to download your pass certificate. (Your new accredited certificate will be posted to you within 6-8 weeks.)
The Nationally Recognised and Accredited Certificate (awarded by the Open College Network) can be added to any existing certificate credit values (cumulative credits), and these may also count towards other similar college or university courses.This course provides a valuable "stepping stone" into the healthcare profession or natural progression route for practising and experienced HCAs / Carers wishing to expand on their existing qualifications.


At the end of each e-learning section you have up to 6 multiple choice questions to answer, with a passmark of 65%. You can re-sit each section 3 times.
