The IMI Level 2 Award in MOT Testing is the second stage in becoming a qualified MOT tester. It was developed alongside the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and is designed to equip learners with the qualification, knowledge and skills necessary to carry out and accurate and repeatable MOT Test Routine. Once you have successfully completed and passed this award, the final stage (stage 3) will be to complete a VT8 demonstration MOT test with a DVSA assessor to receive your certificate of competence. This will normally be conducted in your own Vehicle Testing Station (VTS) and successful completion will allow you to commence testing with immediate effect. What you will achieve Successful completion of the IMI Level 2 Award in MOT Testing (Classes 4 and 7), will give you a valuable academic qualification recognised by the DVSA that demonstrates your skills and knowledge in conducting MOT testing. Cost of Course The cost of this course is £795 + VAT per candidate. Our courses are ran using a blend of practical and theory based study in small groups of 4 candidates in order to maximise on tutor contact time. Upon application, we will send you some pre-course learning materials and videos to study that will fully prepare you for what is a very demanding course and assessment. Completion of this work forms part of the guided learning hours for this course and is therefore mandatory. Candidates failing to complete this work may be refused entry onto the course. Entry Requirements To be eligible to undertake the The IMI Level 2 Award in MOT Testing (Classes 4 and 7), you must: have a current and full UK driving licence for the classes of vehicle you wish to test be a skilled mechanic, with at least 4 years full-time employment in the service and repair of cars and vans. have a suitable level 3 qualification (please see list below) have no unspent convictions for criminal offences connected with the MOT testing scheme or the motor trade, or involving acts of violence or intimidation and be of good repute. Who Should Attend The IMI Level 2 Award in MOT Testing (Classes 4 and 7), has been developed for individuals who would like to improve their career by becoming qualified MOT Testers. The course is run over four days with the final assessments being conducted on day 4. Pre-course training material will be sent through 2 weeks before start date to complete prior attendance. The assessments consists of an online test of 40 questions and a demonstration MOT where you will be observed carrying out a full MOT demo test. The theory part of the test is ‘open book’ which means you will be able to use reference materials such as the MOT Testers Manual during the test. The pass mark for this test is 80%. Learners wishing to undertake this course MUST poses a good standard of written and spoken English as all MOT training and testing is conducted in English.

A whole day of workshops for groups of pupils throughout your school, delivered by a dedicated ally of disabled people. Engaging and thought-provoking, these workshops are a must for schools that want to challenge prejudice and promote disability equality. Workshops will help pupils to: learn more about disability and human rights hear disabled people’s perspectives identify common stereotypes and some of the prejudices disabled people face consider what disability is and how it arises understand the difference between impairment and disability review terminology and its effect on disabled people’s identities learn about disabled people who have made a difference ask sensitive questions anonymously become advocates for disability equality 95-100% of participants say that they found our workshop helpful Some of the reasons pupils have given for finding the workshop helpful are: “Until today I had always been scared of disabled people but today I have learnt that disabled people have a heart and emotions too.” “I now understand more about disabilities. How many workshops will you deliver? We can deliver up to six workshops in a day. How many pupils should there be in each group? The workshops are interactive, so they are more effective with groups of around 20 pupils. We are often asked to work with larger groups and this still generates excellent feedback from pupils and staff. What year groups are these workshops for? The workshops are suitable for all year groups in primary and secondary schools; we adapt the content and presentation according to the age of pupils. Does a member of staff need to stay with the group? Yes, we ask that a member of staff is present at each workshop. Will you need any equipment? We ask for a computer, projector and access to the internet. Pupils will need a pen to write with. How are the workshops evaluated? At the end of each workshop we ask all (except the youngest) pupils to write down if they have found it helpful or not and why; we may also offer them an opportunity to ask a question anonymously.If schools have opted for this (please see optional extras below) we will send the school written responses to questions and a transcript of pupils’ feedback as evidence of impact. This is the course for sailors who would like to pass on their sailing skills and experience on the water. The title RYA Cruising Instructor will allow the successful candidate to teach up to Day Skipper level. The course is for experienced Yachtmaster Offshore candidates, with commercial endorsement, who on successful completion of the exam be able to instruct practical courses. The course is taken over 5 days with a moderator joining at the end of the week. It is a combination of assessing the candidate's knowledge, providing a structured framework to instruct, coach, observe and deliver constructive feedback, and ensure the structure and standards required of RYA courses are understood. Prior to the course the candidate is required to have their RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate of Competence commercially endorsed. Your Professional Practices and Responsibilities certificate (PPR this can be done online) Your original, completed ML5 or ENG1 (for cat 1 or 0 waters) medical fitness form A copy of your RYA Basic Sea Survival certificate or STCW Personal Survival Techniques A copy of your RYA Marine Radio SRC Certificate or other acceptable GMDSS Marine Radio Operator's Certificate. The course is for the experienced skipper with theoretical and practical knowledge well in excess of the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate of Competence. Candidates are required to pass an online Pre-Course Knowledge Check prior to attending the Cruising Instructor course. Access to the online check will be issued with the course Joining Instructions, which will be sent out 6 weeks before the course starts. As with all our courses, onboard food, fuel and marina fees are included in the cost. The course starts on a Monday morning (0900 hrs) and departs from Largs Yacht Haven, Scotland. Candidates are invited to arrive on Sunday evening and familiarize themselves with the yacht.

Stone Carving made a return to the Phoenix last year when we welcomed Mark Stonestreet to come teach us the joys of creating free-standing abstract sculpture. It was an absolutely fantastic course! This year Mark is coming back for more and this time we’re giving the students more stone to create with and more time – 5 days to be precise! The dusty nature of stone means that we will be working under a marquee set within the studio’s beautiful meadow – what better way to spend your summer – especially when none of us can go abroad? Outside of a global pandemic, Mark spends half the year creating sculpture in the South Downs and the other half in Mamallapuram in India – a village of over 200 stone carving workshops. His life is in stone and I liked him the instant we met. He is everything you would expect a stone carver to be – sturdy, weathered (meant in the nicest possible way, I promise Mark!) with a warm, no-nonsense personality that immediately puts you at ease. Our students are in safe hands working with him and I cannot wait to see what they will achieve this year! 23/08/2021 - 27/08/2021 10:00 am - 4:30 pm Location: The Phoenix Studio This fun course includes: Informal, relaxed & attentive guidance for every student, provided by Mark Stonestreet Step-by-step demonstrations covering… How to work with the tools and stone safely, How to create an abstract design that will look good and have structural integrity, How to transfer your design to the stone and carve into it efficiently to create the basic shape, How to add detail and refine the carved form, How to finish and present the form (looking at finishes, treatment, and mounting). This course is for you if: You want to realise drawings and 2D designs into 3D or have an introduction to visualizing your ideas in 3D You want to explore your creativity but lack the confidence to do so on your own You want to learn how to work safely and competently in stone You want to get away from it all and immerse yourself in a fun, creative environment Suitable for? Anyone, but please note that you will be using a chisel and mallet throughout the three days and this will take it’s toll on your arms and body. Mark will be able to provide ideas as well and advise you on which of your ideas may work best so having some ideas to work from would be useful. You will be working outdoors so come prepared for the forecasted weather and all students must work in sturdy shoes.
