Oscott Academy is a registered independent school that supports the learning of students in Key Stage 4 (Year 10 and 11). Oscott Academy prides itself on its pastoral approach, fostering an environment where students can develop and be part of the Oscott Academy family. We support students with diagnoses of ASD, ADHD, ADD and anxiety, in addition to those who display symptoms of SEMH. We also support vulnerable students who have struggled to learn in a mainstream setting. The school has a high level of student support with a ration of 5:1 (student to staff ratio). Oscott Academy was opened in 2014 by Stewart Dance, an experienced practitioner with over a decades experience in educational settings. Ethos Statement The ethos of Oscott Academy is that of inclusion, respect and creating a family environment where students can be part of the Oscott Academy family. We are committed to providing a service to our students who are recognised as the most important group within the school community. Staff demonstrate due consideration and respect for their students. Students' rights to voice opinions is recognised and staff will work with students to deal with their concerns. The efforts which members of staff make to improve the learning process and promote partnership will be recognised by students adopting an active role in their own learning. When dealing with difficult situations we will seek to resolve problems by mediation, respecting the feelings of all involved. Oscott Academy's approach to creating a safe, family environment has enabled students at the academy to achieve positive outcomes Post 16. All of our students move onto positive post-16. They all have impartial careers advice and support in their college/post 16 applications. Our 2020/21 students moved onto: Local colleges to study: Animal Care Health & Social Care Baking Hair and Beauty Construction Skills Music Production Music Performance Mechanics Art and Design Bricklaying Carpentry and Joinery Vehicle Maintenance Two students also began apprenticeships, one in bricklaying and one is childcare. I thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself; My Name is Hannah and I am the face behind the academy.  I come from a normal hard working family orientated family. I have dyslexia, dyspraxia, and irlen syndrome (learning difficulties) & undiagnosed ASD/ADHD. I finished school with 5C's 5D's and a E - I failed maths and English and I was told I'd never accomplish anything. I am a mum & career, I have to two happy, healthy, very chalk and cheese, strong-minded boys who both have they're own challenges but I wouldn't change it for the world I am a salon owner - HD Beauty and Aesthetics I've been in the industry now for nearly 8 years working my way though the industry, paying for my first course and working to pay for my next and so on. I started with body waxing 8 years ago and I'm still learning and adding to my knowledge.  I started in the back room of a local hairdressers & opened my own salon 5 years ago, recently moving to even bigger premises! I LOVE my job! I love making people feel good about themselves again, giving them confidence in their body. I am a business mentor - I have a passion for teaching and mentoring others coming into the beauty and aesthetics industry whether it's own salon goals or working within a salon, everyone needs support and guidance. It's a daunting and bitchy industry to be in and you should never feel like your alone. I support clients in various ways to smash their business and goals and help them achieve anything they want on a 1-1 bases!  I am a beauty training academy owner - pulling my passion for teaching and lashing together to offer the opportunity to others to build their very own career in the beauty industry. Beauty has changed mine and my families life. It's given me the flexibility to work around my kids, watch them grow up and attend the important events while feeling like I have something for me and bring in my own money. I have alot more exciting things planned with this - I can not wait to share it!  This is me! I have so much planned for each of my businesses , working everyday to achieve my goals.  The most important thing I have learnt is to never give up.. don't let your past shadow your future.  You can achieve ANYTHING you want and I love supporting others to do the same.

We are an amazing special school and 6th Form with up to 150 students aged between 11 to 19 years old. Students are taught in classes of up to 12 individuals, supported by a teacher and normally at least 1 teaching assistant. Most new students join us in September in either Year 7 or Year 12 but we do admit young people into other year groups throughout the year where vacancies exist. Our students all have complex learning & additional needs (LAN) and all are supported by an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) which is reviewed annually. The majority of students join us are operating at least 3 to 4 years below chronological expectations. Our students’ additional needs include global developmental delay, autism, ADHD / ODD/ADD, anxiety, OCD, sleep apnoea, cerebral palsy, visual or hearing impairment, dyspraxia/coordination difficulties, hydrocephalus, epilepsy, chromosomal abnormalities including Down syndrome, speech, language & communication difficulties. It is our explicit aim to facilitate every opportunity to help address our students wider ‘therapeutic’ needs. Whilst some of our students have some mobility difficulties, due to the split-level nature of our site we are unable to cater for young people in wheelchairs. We describe our young people as not disabled but differently abled. We have a highly dedicated, experienced and specially trained staff team committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for every young person. We believe in building a real and lasting sense of community and belonging – we are proud of being an especially welcoming school. Feeling safe and developing positive and trusting relationships are key to our students’ success. Securing our students’ wellbeing and positive mental health is central to our provision. We employ a multi-disciplinary approach in meeting the needs of our students and each individual is following their own personalised programme. We place special emphasis on partnership working (with parents, other professionals, Local Authorities, business / industry and the local community). Everything we do is designed to ensure positive & successful adult life chances for our students (not just ‘next steps’). The school is located in 21 acres of peaceful and beautiful woodland and we are proud of the high quality and well maintained learning environment we have created, including many specialist resources and teaching areas. Carwarden House Community School and Sixth Form grounds are owned by Surrey County Council.
