An Egyptian/British Physiotherapy clinician and Academic based in the UK, He moved to the UK in 2004 and started his Academic Career as a Senior lecturer in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) Where he was leading the Musculoskeletal module within the post graduate program, he works occasionally as clinical specialist with National Health Service and runs private clinics in Sheffield and London, fellow of the higher education academy-UK, certified McKenzie Therapist-UK and international manual therapy tutor. It happened that he shared the office at SHU with Dr Stephen May the author of McKenzie Text Books and a remarkable researcher, in a cloudy morning in the winter of 2006 at the Cafe area in Robert Winston Building of SHU ,Mahmoud has invited Dr May to visit Cairo-Egypt to present a short introductory workshop to the McKenzie concept. the rest is history. Vision and Mission: The vision was not difficult to set, at that time, continuous professional Development in the Middle East was a new concept, where many physios were happy with hot packs, US and Exercise protocols. Therefore, stage one of our mission was to introduce all the well known concepts/schools/school of thoughts was number one priority. Between 2006 to 2011 Primephysio collaborated with McKenzie Institute International, International Bobath Tutor Training Association, Orthopaedic Medicine Belgium, British Bobath tutors association , Mulligan tutors association to run many training courses in Cairo - Egypt and Amman-Jordan and Sheffield.UK.This was stage one. Stage 2 started in 2011. We wanted to send a clear message, it is not about single concept or approach it is about a logically balanced and blended approach where all concepts are considered for the right patient on the right time. Many experienced clinicians and Academic mainly from the UK , most of them were SHU senior teaching staff, were part of this Journey. Kathmandu University (KU) is an autonomous, not-for-profit, self-funding public institution established by an Act of Parliament in December 1991. The mission statement of the University is “to provide quality education for leadership”. The vision is “to become a world-class university devoted to bringing knowledge and technology to the service of mankind”. The University aspires to serve the nation by fulfilling the needs of the society through the motto of taking knowledge and skills “from the campus to the community.” The University’s broadly perceived signature features include autonomous administration, financial self-sustenance, regular maintenance of the academic calendar, sustained trust of the international academic community, optimum contact between faculties and students and student-friendly environment, among others. Similarly, the University’s graduates are widely known for attributes such as substantive exposure to the industry and the community, research competence, technological literacy, moderate to high-level communicative competence, teamwork and leadership spirit and global compatibility. GLC is a non-profit center for students with learning differences and/or Attention Deficit Disorder. We are the first replication site of The Hill Center in Durham, NC and have been serving area students with learning differences since 2002. Our Vision The vision of GLC is to make this successful teaching method available to as many students in Pitt County and the surrounding counties, as possible. GLC will continue to serve the needs of Pitt County students by working in partnership with Pitt County Public Schools and area private schools. It is also our goal to work with families and students in need of financial assistance by offering scholarships. In addition, GLC hopes to cooperate with ECU as a resource for future teachers and as an official internship site and volunteer service center. We look forward to becoming a vital resource for the east. In the beginning, many thought it would be impossible to start such a project in eastern NC, but the determination of three mothers cannot be underestimated. The idea began to take root in 1997 after a visit to The Hill Center in Durham. It was determined by the three founding families at that time to make an investment and to begin to hire teachers to train in The Hill Center Methodology. Laura Bruce Hadley Nichols came on board and eventually became the school’s director. Dr. Michael Priddy who was a superintendent of Pitt County Public Schools at the time, made the trip to Durham with the founding mothers along with Mr. Larry Seigler (GLC board member), and Dr. Marilyn Sheer (previous Dean of ECU School of Education). We met with The Hill Center professionals and Dr. Priddy and decided that GLC would be a great partner with Pitt County Schools. The meeting was successful and afterwards Dr. Priddy granted transfer credit to GLC from Pitt County Schools. From this point on, GLC has been helping children throughout Pitt County meet their academic potential and feel good about who they are even though they learn differently.
