Please come along and join me at my art workshops in acrylics, linocut printing and soft pastels in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District. Whether you are on holiday or living nearby, a novice or experienced - everyone is welcome. I am a professional artist and was a heat semi-finalist in Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year competition, I have exhibited with the Royal Society of British Artists and Royal Society of Marine Artist Mall Galleries, London. Wednesday workshops are located at my home studio. You have a choice of working in acrylics and/or mixed media, soft pastels or linocut printing. Subjects include: landscapes, still life, abstract, portraits, etc. The workshops are fun, relaxing and informative. I also hold a Saturday Art Workshops advertised on Craft Courses! I have a relaxed and informative approach to working with acrylics and mixed media and other techniques. I was a professional muralist for 11 years, specialising in trompe l'oeil (trick of the eye) techniques.  Although photo realism painting in acrylics was essential in creating a painting illusion, I have also worked more recently with impasto and mixed media using acrylics which is an enjoyable and liberating experience. I was a former member of the Association of Professional Muralists and have appeared on television and radio. I have a friendly dog called Phoebe! What's included in the price? Do you have a little one that loves dancing, singing & acting? Why not book them a place at one of our BP Theatre Camps this holiday?   Struggling to think of ways to keep the kids entertained? BP to the rescue! Your children will learn new skills, be engaged, make new friends and most importantly….have BAGS OF FUN!   Our camp offers the children a chance to build their confidence in a friendly environment. We encourage kids to be their best not the best. How does the day run? We start the day with our welcome talk & ice breaker games – this is a great way for the children to ease into the day and get to know each other. Once we have made some new friends we move onto livening up our bodies with dance, after this energetic session we take a well deserved morning break. Singing is up next followed by lunch – a much needed chance to refuel after a very busy morning. The afternoon then consists of drama tasks, arts & crafts, afternoon break and plenty of games.   Each session (dance, singing & drama) consist of a warm up, technique and working towards a final piece that we complete by the end of the day.   Our aim is for each child to leave daily with the biggest smile on their face and feeling proud of what they’ve achieved.

The course is pefect for beginners and more advanced mosaic makers. A perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of mosaics. Learn how to make classic and contemporary mosaics on this six-day residential mosaic workshop in Greece using local stone and marble. The Lagou Raxi Hotel in the mountains of Pelion provides a wonderful backdrop for this relaxing, informative holiday in an unspoilt area of Greece. June 25 – July 2, 2022 Saturday Arrival of participants. Experienced students will meet in the studio to prepare their materials and substrates and to finalise their designs. Meet & Greet for the whole group. Short Introduction to the history of Ancient Greek and Roman mosaics and an overview of contemporary mosaics. Welcome Dinner at the hotel. Sunday Getting started. Discussion of the commonly used approaches to mosaic making with an overview of mosaic tools, materials and techniques. A look at the ‘classic’ mosaic rules and the fundamental skills needed to make a direct method mosaic including how to cut and lay the tesserae and design principles. Students work on a practice coaster. All students finalise their main design and prepare their substrates. Students start work on a 30cm by 30cm mosaic on Jackoboard which is suitable for indoor or outdoor hanging. Afternoon: visit to one of Pelion’s remote and beautiful beaches and Byzantine mosaic relics. Monday Students continue with their own pieces with Helen’s support and direction. Tuesday Students continue with their own pieces with Helen’s support and direction. Afternoon: As before and a PowerPoint presentation on the art of Andamento – the visual flow of the mosaic. Wednesday Students work at different paces so those who are ready may already have started on their second or even third piece. The other techniques covered during the week are mosaics on mesh and using found materials such as pebbles and shells with tile adhesive. Afternoon: As before and a PowerPoint presentation on Contemporary Mosaics. Thursday Students continue with their own pieces. Those who are ready will seal and grout their main mosaics. Demonstration of how to grout. Demonstration of how to apply a mesh mosaic to a fixed surface using tile adhesive. Afternoon: Excursion to visit some Pelion monasteries or other sites of interest. Friday All students finish their main piece and/or their extra mosaics and prepare for an informal exhibition of the week’s work in the studio. Exhibition, group photo and farewell dinner. Saturday Departure of participants, or a rest over the weekend*. * There is a possibility to continue using the studio, tools and materials unsupervised over the weekend for a small extra charge. Please ask if you would like to stay for extra nights and/or make sure of the studio space WHAT’S INCLUDED?
