Course Introduction Our Venepuncture and Phlebotomy training equips delegates with the skills and knowledge needed to take blood safely. Please note: this course is for health care professionals and nurses only. About this event Applicable to Nurses, Health Care Assistants and Phlebotomists in primary care, the community, hospitals or nursing homes, this course is interactive and involves a demonstration session on performing blood tests. Our venepuncture training will give delegates the theoretical and practical awareness to undertake a competence assessment framework in the workplace that will deem them competent to take blood safely and appropriately. Each delegate will receive a competence-based framework to allow them to do this. 3 Day First Aid Description: The full 3-day First Aid at Work Qualification is nationally recognised. It meets the standards required to help comply with Health and Safety (First aid) regulations. This qualification is valid for three year, after which delegates need to complete a 2-day refresher course. Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and care of the unconscious requires physical effort. Learners should be capable of working with casualties at floor level. Learners receive a First Aid at Work guide book, a training dressing and a CPR barrier protection device. The HSE strongly recommend that all First Aiders undertake annual refresher training of at least 3 hours per year. Our First Aid at Work Level 3 (18 hours) course is designed for individuals who wish to act as a first aider in their workplace. Designed for medium to high risk organisations.
Be prepared for emergency first aid situations at work The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification, specifically designed to benefit Learners by preparing them to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations and/or take on the role of emergency first aider in the workplace. This one day course is for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide help to people in a range of emergency first aid situations. During the course, learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations, including: managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, choking, shock, wounds and bleeding and minor injuries. At ECS, we also include the optional session on Management of life-threatening catastrophic bleeding as standard. Topics covered include The roles and responsibilities of an emergency first aider Assessing an incident Managing an unresponsive casualty CPR and defibrillation Recovery Position Choking Seizures Shock Wounds and bleeding Minor injuries (incl. Cuts, grazes and bruises; Minor burns and scalds) Management of life-threatening catastrophic bleeding Note: The Emergency First Aid at Work content aligns with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) syllabus Assessment Methods 4 x Practical assessments 1 x Theory assessment (Multiple Choice Question Paper). Eligibility Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of the training and be able to perform practical tasks at floor level. There are no other formal entry requirements Qualsafe strongly recommend that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
