Formerly Joanne Heald, Joanne graduated from Trinity College of Music in 2005 with a Postgraduate Diploma in Voice, BMus (Hons) and Trinity’s Silver Medal for Vocal achievement. Her singing and acting credits include Kenneth Branagh’s film The Magic Flute, Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes, Larina in Eugene Onegin at Jackson’s Lane Theatre, London, The Stepmother in Neely Bruce’s Musical Hansel and Gretel at The Mick Jagger Centre, Woman and Nun in The Saint of Bleeker Street at the Peacock Theatre in London and the Father in an all female cast of Hansel and Gretel at The People’s Theatre London. She has sung the soprano solos of many oratorios and scared works in the UK and America, including Mozart’s Mass in C Minor, Regina Coeli and Exultate Jubilate, Faure’s Requiem, Haydn’s Salve Regina, Nelson Mass and Handel’s Messiah. Joanne began her teaching career at Bird College of Dance, Music and Theatre Performance, where she taught Singing, Piano and Music Theatre within the Music Department and school programmes. She combined this with being a Music Examiner for A Level with the OCR exam board and conducting the Bexley Youth Choir. After 11 years at Bird College, Joanne moved to Russell House Preparatory School in Kent where she became the Assistant Head of Music and was involved with teaching Music and the school’s choral endeavours including conducting a prize winning Chamber Choir. Joanne played the piano at all school events and helped coach the singing and dance for their Musical drama performances. She left in July 2018 to have her 3rd child. Since relocating to Derby, Joanne is Parish Organist and leads the choir at St Stephen’s Church, teaches singing at Stagecoach and coaches Musical Theatre Students. Joanne also teaches the LAMDA communication syllabus which includes: Speaking Verse and Prose, Reading for Performance and Speaking in Public. Theatre people. Joanne is a licensed chaperone. Gill, Peter & Naomi The Hands Family The Hands Family & Hotels – How it All Began! Peter and Gill Hands started their business “Tauber Hands Ltd”, shortly after getting married in February 1986. Their first business, The Hyperion House hotel was a small 18 bedroom 2 star hotel in Fairford, Gloucestershire, which they purchased and quickly developed into a very successful 3 star 26 bedroom hotel with a popular restaurant. Naomi, currently Operations Director at the Speech House was born in 1988 in Fairford, and lived there with Peter’s daughter, Amanda. Shortly after having sold the Hyperion House the family moved back to Hereford. Having made this decision to opt for an “easier” way of life they invested the proceeds from the sale of the Hyperion into Breinton Court, a self-catering leisure complex on the banks of the River Wye, just outside Hereford . Katy, their second daughter soon appeared, and Breinton Court also became the family home for the next 31 years. Whilst at Breinton Court, Peter and Gill went on to purchase “The Bell Hotel “opposite Tewkesbury Abbey in 1992 and having sold it in 1995 took a short break until 1997 when they purchased the Heritage Park Hotel in the Rhondda Valley a 44 bedroomed hotel with a health spa and large conference and banqueting facility for 250 guests. They sold the Heritage Park Hotel in 2005, thinking they would take a break for a while but after 5 years of Peter taking over as Chairman of “Visit Hereford” for three and a half years and Gill doing some consultancy work, they couldn’t get rid of the “Hospitality Itch”. In 2010, they decided to have one last hurrah and invested in the wonderful historic Speech House. Ten years later, in 2020, their daughter Naomi, joined the family business. Having grown up in hotels, and then working in London for the past 10 years in marketing, she decided it was time for Mum & Dad to start considering the idea of retirement. Naomi, who has a keen interest in mountain biking and the outdoors was appointed “Operations Director”, and is bringing new ideas to The Speech House. She has a broad knowledge of the industry, and looking to bring new thoughts and ideas in to keep the Speech House as the premier hotel in the heart of The Royal Forest of Dean. The Speech House Hotel truly is a Hands family business, with Katy’s art and paintings all around the building, and Amanda holding her weddding at the hotel in 2021! The other new addition to the Management Team is Luca, Peter and Gill’s adopted Lucas Terrier who can often be seen around the hotel. Luca was made “Director of Dog Friendly Visits” He has been given his own Instagram page and become quite a favourite with the guests, both two and four legged.

The Islamic Foundation (IF) is located in Villa Park, Illinois. Islamic Foundation was formed in 1974, as a non-profit organization under the laws of the State of Illinois, to serve the Muslim communities in the western suburbs of Chicago. We started our mission in 1975 with a weekend Islamic school in a rented facility with an initial enrollment of 36 students. In 1981, Islamic Foundation got the permit to establish a permanent building facility in Villa Park, Illinois and two years later, Islamic Foundation purchased a former public school building and an adjacent house to setup the facility that is now our Islamic Foundation campus. Our goal at IF is to fulfill the spiritual, educational, and social needs of the entire family for the Muslim community in the greater Chicagoland area. The management of the Islamic Foundation is vested in a Board of Trustees. The Islamic Foundation operates multiple institutions and programs on the premises including a Mosque, Islamic Foundation School (full-time school from preschool to grade 12), and Weekend Schools (Saturday and Sunday). The Islamic Foundation Masjid, arguably the largest mosque in North America, was completed in 1998 after a 3-year construction period. The masjid area now also includes a book store, library / reading room, community center, banquet / lecture hall, state-of-the-art kitchen, conference rooms, and IF staff offices. The Islamic Foundation School (IFS), is a full-time school (preschool to grade 12) accredited by North Central Association (NCA) and recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). IFS has a current enrollment of around 650 full-time students from 400+ families across the greater Chicagoland area, making its one of the largest Islamic schools in North America. Since its inception in 1986, IFS has embarked on a mission to provide excellent education in an atmosphere of faith, and to prepare students to be life-long learners and contributing members of society. BRIEF HISTORY OF ISLAMIC FOUNDATION 1974: Founded and registered Foundation with the State of Illinois as a not-for-profit organization 1975: Recognized by the United States as a tax-exempt organization. 1975: Established weekend Islamic school for children in a rented classroom with enrollment of 36 students. 1983: Purchased a former public school building (24,000 square feet) on a 7.1-acre lot and simultaneously purchased a house adjacent to this land for use as the Imam’s residence. 1984: Established a Muslim cemetery with a space for 1,125 grave-sites, as part of Arlington Cemetery, at 401 E Lake Street, Elmhurst, Illinois. 1988: Established a full-time school for kindergarten to grade 8, and later added a preschool for children, ages 3-5. 1993: Expanded parking facilities with installation of floodlights. 1995: Began construction of a new mosque to accommodate the growing community. 1997: Established a high school with grade 9 and gradually expanded to grade 12 by 2000. Also added a playground and completed an upgrade of all heating units in the school building. 1998: Completed construction of the Masjid along with the additional space that today includes a book store, library and reading room, banquet/lecture hall, kitchen, and offices for the Foundation staff. 1999: Further extended the existing parking facility. 2003: Added the parking lot on the west side of the Masjid. 2007: Established a second cemetery, Al-Fatiha Gardens, for 336 grave sites in Chapel Hill Gardens at 17 West 201 Roosevelt Road, Oak Brook Terrace, Illinois. 2007: Started construction of a new three-story building including a state-of-the-art regulation-size gymnasium (paused in 2009 after completing all exterior work due to financial considerations). 2012: Completed and furnished first floor of the new school building – moved high school classes from trailers to the new building. 2014: Completed and furnished second floor of the new school building – moved all the middle school classes from trailers to the new building. 2016: Completed the lower level of the new school building – moved rest of the middle school classes, and labs. 2017: Completed the construction of community center, administration offices, and conference rooms. 2018: Renovated the Old School Building by replacing the entire roof and ceiling.
