Previously the beauty industry had very lax regulation and you could start your business with just CPD accreditation. However, insurance companies are now looking for qualifications like VTCT as these are a set standard that require assignments and exams at a very minimum of Level 2. This means a combination of both VTCT and CPD means your business will meet industry standards What is the difference between CPD and VTCT? Qualifications are listed on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which is the national framework of UK qualifications, and the certificate of achievement is issued by an Awarding Organisation. Your certificate means you are ‘qualified’ in that subject CPD is a piece of training developed by an individual or organisation that sits outside the regulated qualifications framework. It confers a skill not a qualification. Treatments such as dermaplaning can only be completed as a CPD therefore a combination of both VTCT and CPD will increase your revenue. Barista Skills teaches the essential practical skills needed behind the espresso bar, such as how to set your grinder, make espresso, foam and texture milk for cappuccinos, and create latte art, as well as an exploration of health and safety issues, customer service protocols, and basic business practices. The Barista Skills Intermediate course builds on the concepts and skills introduced in the Foundation course. It is ideal for someone who has barista skills experience and wants to explore how to improve coffee quality and prepare for more complex job functions found in the barista profession. Through this interactive course, learners will gain a deeper understanding of the coffee itself, specifically, the impact of a coffee’s variety, origins and processing methods on flavour; the parameters of coffee quantity, grind texture, water quality, and shot time and their interaction when dialling in a brew recipe; drink construction and taste differences; workflow management and efficiency, sensory aspects of the espresso extraction; milk handling and techniques as well as latte art. In addition to coffee preparation, this course also covers key concepts regarding health and safety, customer service, and basic business practices. A written exam tests Intermediate course knowledge, while a practical exam assesses the learner’s ability in terms of grinder calibration, espresso extraction analysis, latte art skills and drinks construction.

The NVQ Level 3 is designed to provide both new entrants and those seeking progression in their career, with the opportunity to develop the necessary skills to carry out job roles and responsibilities associated with the installation and maintenance of Electrotechnical systems. The EWR is for electricians who have been working in the industry for at least 5 years but have not formally completed an industry apprenticeship or Level 3 NVQ qualification. Successful completion of the NVQ and AM2 assessment will satisfy the entry criteria for JIB accredited Gold Card status. Bear in mind that the C&G 2391-50 and 18th Edition courses are pre-requisites to the Experienced Worker route.
