The workplace is changing, and the role that midlife women play in the workplace is changing with it. With women over 50 currently shown to be the fastest growing sector of the workforce, it is inevitable that your organisation will likely have employees working through their menopause transition. Why does this matter? Because the physical and emotional changes that can affect some women as they transition through menopause can create temporary difficulties which may have an impact on performance. Research has shown that as many as 25% of women have considered resigning as a result of a lack of support from their employer. With an estimated cost of £30-35K to recruit a vacant post, not to mention the loss of intellectual capital, it makes sense for employers to actively support their staff through this natural life stage. And it’s not just women either! We need to consider those who don’t identify as cis women but who also may experience the impact of hormonal changes through menopause, that’s basically anyone who has menstruated at any time in their life including trans men and non-binary employees. And let’s not forget the number of people who experience an early menopause due to surgical or medical intervention, they need support too. That’s why at Floresco Training Ltd our primary purpose is to help employers to raise awareness and understanding of this natural, but often ignored and misunderstood life stage, to ensure that everyone feels supported, valued and heard.

Let me tell you a bit about my experience and my approach to languages. I started learning foreign languages as a child and have been teaching them for more than twenty years; this has helped me see both ends of the process, as a learner and as a tutor. Over the years I experienced and witnessed those cycles of -unrealistic expectations, peaks of enthusiasm and, frequent frustration, which we all go through when learning a language. That got me thinking... Are languages too difficult? What are the learners' challenges? Is the teacher's method and approach relevant? So, after seeing people struggle, sometimes give up, and other times persevere and succeed, I decided to use my experience, i.e. what had worked in my teaching and in my learning and I founded LIVE TO LEARN LANGUAGES, where I create a space for all to harvest the emotional, cultural and intellectual rewards of learning a second language. Tutors who join our team us must all share the same passion and human qualities: dedication, patience and creativity; the latter being essential to explain grammar and develop activities that will exercise students' memory muscle enthusiastically. Together we promote not only language acquisition but also the culture where they come from, as this makes the process of learning far more engaging. We are a versatile team of teachers who work together and under the same criteria, putting in our biggest efforts to make your language learning a fulfilling and pleasurable experience.

Herschel is a selective, co-educational secondary school serving Slough and its surrounding areas. In our latest inspection the school was deemed outstanding in all categories by Ofsted. Herschel has a warm and vibrant atmosphere built on an ethos of mutual trust, high academic standards and a commitment to nurturing and developing every individual pupil. We provide the very best opportunities to ensure every child achieves their potential. ‘Pupils thrive in the school’s academic, yet very caring and secure environment’ (Ofsted) And our pupils don’t just achieve very good examination results. Their progress between Year 7 and Year 11 places the school in the top 11% of schools nationally. The school’s success is built on genuine collaboration and partnership between governors, staff, pupils and parents; a partnership which has great aspirations for every child. Teachers have high expectations and work very hard to provide challenge and support. As Ofsted said in their verbal feedback the teachers are ‘enthusiastic, passionate and inspirational’. Pupils themselves have positive attitudes to learning and work well together. They take responsibility for their own behaviour and have strong emotional intelligence and empathy. As a result our young people leave us as responsible, active citizens ready to contribute confidently to university, the workplace and their communities.
