I co teach an online course for riders called The Aware Rider with Dr Thomas Ritter and Shana Ritter. I add rider content on the Ritter’s online courses which focus on the biomechanics of dressage. I am also a Gestalt psychotherapist with a particular interest in working with developing awareness of how my clients embody their emotional and psychological patterns. Biography I’m an accredited Feldenkrais practitioner and have been teaching sport, fitness and movement since 1986. I also have an Msc in Clinical Gestalt Psychotherapy. As an internationally qualified ski instructor and ski instructor coach, I taught in Europe, New Zealand and USA. Returning to London I worked as a personal trainer and was one of the first to incorporate Pilates into my training methods. Many of my clients were very fit but I was always looking for something that would take them further. Despite daily strengthening and stretching regimes and regular osteopathic and physiotherapy treatments I found that their progress was often hampered by niggling injuries and chronic stiffness. Only when I came across the Feldenkrais Method did I make the connection that stretching, strengthening or manipulation were not the key. As I incorporated the Feldenkrais Method into my training my clients started to recognise for themselves how the way they moved could cause injury and interfere with their ability to reach their goals. Through the lessons they learned how much excess effort they put into everything they did, not only in sport but also daily activities. They started to notice surprising and unexpected improvements in their coordination. Many reported an increased sense of physical comfort and ease. I decided to embark on the 4 year Feldenkrais Training which I completed in 2002. I completed my Masters in Clinical Gestalt Psychotherapy in 2016.

WE TEACH. Since January 2014, ReadAble has been running weekly reading and language arts classes for children ages 2 to 15 in a neighbourhood in the Chin Swee area. We started out teaching in children’s homes, but have grown to occupy classrooms in the Residents’ Committee Centre. We teach a phonics-based curriculum to our earliest readers and deliver a programme which complements the primary school syllabus for those who have mastered the basics of reading. We use drama, movement and play to draw out a love for reading, build self-confidence, and encourage creativity. WE BUILD. ReadAble has built a community library of over a thousand books for our kids to freely access books at every reading level throughout the week. We also organise educational excursions to plays and museums, as well as connect kids’ families with community resources, such as school supply donations and workshops by professional educators. Through our BookDrop project, we set up conducive study spaces and mini-libraries in kids’ homes. WE MENTOR. Apart from our classes every Saturday, some volunteers run one-on-one classes with children in their homes across the week forming deep relationships with families. We also started a class teaching the predominantly migrant mothers of our students, functional English to navigate life in Singapore. EVERY CHILD LOVED. We believe that children thrive in love. An exclusive and independent rehab centre for the treatment of addictions and associated mental health issues The Haynes Clinic is a private rehabilitation centre for the treatment of alcohol, gambling and drug addiction. Drug addiction encompasses all so-called ‘recreational’ drugs (cocaine, ketamin, GBL, GHB, heroin and cannabis, for example). It also includes prescription medication for those with concerns about their use of drugs such as codeine, diazepam and other benzodiazepines, pregabalin, gabapentin and sleeping tablets. The centre provides detox and counselling with a view to you becoming entirely abstinent from alcohol and drugs. The counselling will also cover how to deal with stress, anxiety and depression – feelings that are often associated with addiction and other compulsive behaviours. Most of the rehab treatment is focused around group therapy as this has been proven to be most effective in helping addicts and alcoholics into recovery. There will also be some one to one counselling to cover individual goals and anything of particular sensitivity. All clients at The Haynes Clinic will have a consultation with our consultant psychiatrist on admission. She will prescribe any detox medication required and oversee your medical needs during your stay. Your stay here can be entirely private without it being revealed to your own GP and being on your medical notes – or we can liaise with your GP if you prefer. If we need to be in touch with your GP – or any other professional outside the confines of the treatment centre – this will always be with your consent. We also involve your family and those closest to you in your treatment. We ask the people who care about you to tell us about your behaviour and how it has affected them. We also offer them family counselling if they need support as a result of your addiction. The treatment centre is located in a tranquil, rural setting in Bedfordshire. We aim to make your stay as comfortable as possible while getting you well. All clients at the centre have their own bedrooms in a home comfort setting. Some have en suite facilities. All are good sized well appointed rooms with a double bed.
