When a child comes along to their first swimming lesson at Making Waves, we will meet you at reception and give your child a card to give to the coordinator at poolside. This identifies your child as a new swimmer at Making Waves. Please watch our walk round tour video before coming along, as this has lots of small instructions to help your first class go swimmingly. It is important that you, as the adult, do not go onto poolside. There is a cafe with full viewing access and a coordinator on hand to help with any queries. We ask that children remain dry until they are in the pool, for two reasons. Children can get cold standing wet, no matter how warm the facility is, and they are more likely to fall if they have wet feet. We will assist your child to get into the water and onto a platform, where they will be supervised by a lifeguard. When it is their turn to swim, we will ask them to step off the platform and will pick them up again.

Hello my name is Chelsea and welcome to Greens Yoga. I am a yoga teacher specialising in yoga for women’s physical and mental health and wellbeing, in Edinburgh and the Lothians. I teach small group classes and private yoga sessions specialising in pregnancy and postnatal classes, I also offer beginner friendly vinyasa flow style classes and yoga nidra for those who have trouble with sleep, anxiety and stress. I am always learning to upgrade my skills and knowledge whether it be through courses, reading or being taught by other teachers. I have recently completed my fertility yoga training with Naomi Murphy from Real Fertile and Sally Parkes Yoga, i am excited to soon be offering women’s wellbeing focused classes. There are many different styles to practising yoga that it can make the journey to starting your first class slightly daunting. Here I’ve decided to help ease your mind and break down the styles of yoga I teach which will hopefully make your decision a little bit easier when choosing the style for you. ABC Paramedic Services was set up by our Training and Event Manager, Craig Gray. Craig spent fifteen years working in front line Emergency Services within the Scottish Ambulance Service in Edinburgh. The final six years of this was spent as a First Response Paramedic on a Rapid Response Vehicle dealing predominately with Class A / Red (i.e. potentially life threatening) emergencies. In 2011 Craig became the first Paramedic in the history of the Scottish Ambulance Service to be awarded ‘The Chief Executive’s Special Award’ for displaying the highest levels of commitment and professionalism in his job. Craig’s considerable knowledge and expertise extends to the private sector including delivering First Aid Training to Healthcare Professionals, courses at the Royal College of Surgeons, and providing Medical Cover at events such as ‘T in the Park’, ‘The Edinburgh Tattoo’ and the ‘Queen’s Garden Party’. In 2012, Craig provided Paramedic level cover as Chief Medical Officer at the ‘Urdd National Eisteddfod’ festival in Wales with over 100,000 spectators in attendance. Craig has also employed his medical skills for charitable causes, running a medical clinic in a remote part of North East India as well as being involved in a pioneering ‘out of hospital Cardiac Arrest’ study aimed at improving CPR skills. Craig takes a very personal, hands-on approach to the business and is actively involved in the strategic developments of all training, events, and projects.

Hi, I’m Kathryn and I run antenatal courses and workshops along with baby and postnatal classes in Edinburgh. I teach weekly pregnancy classes and birth and baby workshops, which focus on combining antenatal education with birth hypnosis and breathing techniques, movement for pregnancy wellbeing and active birth and are a great time of the week to focus on you, your pregnancy and your baby. Weekly classes are a great way to help you enjoy a positive pregnancy and meet up with others local to you and at a similar stage in pregnancy as you prepare for your confident birth. I also teach Tinies and Wrigglers daisy baby classes which as well as offering baby massage, yoga and sensory play are all about coming together with other new parents to meet, chat and learn – navigating the journey into parenthood together. What I particularly love is seeing expectant parents meet at antenatal classes and continue with daisy baby classes until 10 to 12 months postpartum offering a real connection and community and seeing friendships grow. My classes are with you every step of the way, as are the community of daisy parents around you connected in class and online to always be there to support you. For everyone that is looking for evidence based information, delivered live and interactive (both online and in person) in a non judgemental space with other like minded new and expectant parents you are in the right place! As a local Mum of two I know just how much of a huge transition it can be becoming a new parent and I am passionate about supporting parental wellbeing and passionately believe in the value of peer support. We’ve all heard the saying ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ and daisy is all about building your village! I trained with The Daisy Foundation in 2013 and have been teaching for daisy classes for over 7 years working with hundreds of parents and families from throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians. I am also a voluntary peer facilitator and lead Positive Birth Edinburgh, as well as being a trained Slingababy Baby Wearing Peer Supporter and a proud member of Edinburgh Birth and Baby.
