Our intensive 10, 15 or 20 day Total Air Conditioning and Refrigeration training courses have been structured to meet the ever increasing demands on industry to meet safety, environmental and legal requirements regarding installation, commissioning, service and maintenance of both refrigeration and air conditioning systems including the electrical aspects of installation dependent upon course selection. The first 10 days of the Total Air Conditioning and Refrigeration training course are mechanical only, the following 5 or 10 days are the electrical aspects, depending on which route you need to go down. The Total Air Conditioning and Refrigeration training courses are accredited with the City & Guilds 2079, BESA Pipework and Brazing – (commercial), along with an EAL Unit* – Maintenance of Refrigeration Systems from the EAL Certificate in Engineering Technology (QCF) qualification. (*Practical elements will be covered during the course with a Project booklet to be completed by the student with an element of self-study after the course completion for us to claim the Unit certification from EAL). City & Guilds 2392 10 level 2 is a short course aimed at newcomers to inspection and testing of electrical installations, and also the logical route towards 2391-50, 2391-51, or 2391-52. City & Guilds 2392 10 level 2 Certification is achieved on successful completion of both the practical assessment and PC based examination. A four day course for a student possessing a working knowledge of the wiring regulations, to the level of City and Guilds 2382. We strongly recommend City and Guilds 2382 is achieved prior to sitting this City & Guilds 2392 10 level 2 course, though this is NOT an entry requirement. The City & Guilds 2392 10 level 2 exam is a PC based multiple choice examination has 50 questions, is 1 hour 40 mins long and is closed book, with instant result. To further support this City & Guilds 2392 10 level 2 course, we offer a 1 day practical workshop available to candidates who have completed the course and require further ‘hands on’ practical experience prior to their practical examination. Most students who take this option, elect to complete this the day before their practical assessment. The practical assessment takes approximately 2 hours, this can, if available, be taken on the day following the on-line examination or at a later date at a time which is mutually convenient to both student and centre. The City and Guilds 2391-50 electrical course has been designed to meet the needs of the electrical installation industry, and is aimed at practising electricians who have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require some update of training before going on to other City and Guilds qualifications. Candidates who achieve the City and Guilds 2391-50 qualification could progress on to the City and Guilds 2391-51: the Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations. The City and Guilds 2391-50 course will focus on the teaching and learning of initial verification and certification of electrical installations. In order to claim the full City and Guilds 2391-50 qualification, students must successfully complete: One 1 hour 30 minute online multiple choice test to be completed during the courseOne 3 hour 30 minute practical test to be completed after the course, broken into two sections as follows:Task A – Initial Verification and Certification of the Complete Installation – 2hrs and 30minsTask B – Short Answer Questions – 1hr To further support this course, we offer a 1 day practical workshop (at the cost of £120.00 Net VAT) available to candidates who have completed the course and require further ‘hands on’ practical experience prior to their practical exam. What does this course cover? This five-day course covers a range of topics, all of which are covered via a mixture of theoretical and practical training – we aim for our courses to be as hands-on as possible. The course specifically covers: An introduction to SCADA systems, including elements, servers, hardware and software, tags, plus more. A range of systems including automatic control, FIELDBUS, and wireless communication systems. An introduction to serial interferences, ethernet networks, fibre optics, and wireless. Process variables Communications include case studies to establish communication with HMI (Siemens, Allen Bradley, and Pro-face) . Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), sensors and alarms. Introduction to OPC, covering how to configure OPC UA servers and how to program an OPC UA client. Upon successful completion of this course, candidates will gain a City & Guilds accredited certificate in Scada, HMI and communications.

Understanding and applying the rules on means assessment and providing the right evidence can be difficult given the many various circumstances that must be accounted for with each client. This course will discuss the key aspects of the LAA’s Means Assessment guidance, with discussions on topics such as whose resources should be considered; rules on income, deductions, and capital; evidence requirements - and common errors that are made; rules on allowances (e.g. subject matter of dispute; and how to find and interpret guidance for less common circumstances (e.g. self-employed clients). Means Assessment Guidance is often the same for controlled work and licensed work, but there are some subtle differences on occasion, and the course will highlight some of the main differences in rules. Target Audience This course is aimed at anyone involved in making civil legal aid applications or assessing civil legal help work for financial eligibility. Speaker Steve Keeling, Consultant, DG Legal Steve joined DG Legal after leaving the Legal Aid Agency in August 2016. In his 17 years at the LAA, he worked in the audit team as both auditor and manager and was a Contract Manager for several years. Steve is also a certified SQM auditor and undertakes audits on behalf of Recognising Excellence as well as running training sessions for the SQM Audit Team periodically.
