Gorsefield Primary School is a large, urban community primary school, serving the area of Radcliffe (Bury, Manchester). The school was sponsored by Forward as One CE Academy Trust in April 2015. Gorsefield’s mission is to INSPIRE, CHALLENGE, EXCEL: to inspire and challenge all children and adults to excel in everything they do. The two-form entry school is situated in an area of very high deprivation, so children enter the school with very low socio-economic status and significant life challenges to be overcome. Mobility is extremely high. There are currently 23 different languages spoken at Gorsefield. The proportion of pupils who are disadvantaged is significantly higher than the national average, as is the proportion of pupils with an education, health and care plan (EHCP). The school is a UNICEF Rights Respecting (Silver) school. Gorsefield Primary School provides an environment in which all children and adults, including the community, are able to flourish socially, emotionally and academically. Musical Buds CIC runs a community outreach project at North Fawdon Primary School, Newcastle upon Tyne. This provides quality Suzuki Recorder / Piano lessons to children who would otherwise not have the opportunity to learn an instrument, due to financial and cultural barriers. Picture Musical Buds students Bursary paired lessons for a limited number of students who receive Free School Meals. This bursary project has begun with 10 students in year 3/4. They are keen to learn and it is highly beneficial to share the gift of music with more of our community. This is reliant on donations, so contributions are needed to sustain and extend this project. Other students at North Fawdon Primary School can book weekly half-hour lessons in school on Wednesdays: Individual lessons - £93 per half term Paired lessons - £46.50 per half term Fees are paid monthly/termly.

Stephen Shiell and Hannah White are artist duo Blanc Sceol. Their compositions, interventions and performances express their experience of place, anchored in what is found in a landscape but re-imagined into new territories. They create encounters to connect both materially and energetically to their surroundings. They are certified Deep Listening® practitioners and regularly run workshops and sound walks exploring listening and sound making in public spaces. They have worked with a variety of and experimental platforms such as Anti-university, Fort Process, We’re All Bats, MIA festival and Art’s Birthday and cultural institutions such as Ashmolean Museum, The Royal Academy, Centre for Art and Media Karlsruhe and Oxford Contemporary Music. In 2018 they established Surge Cooperative, a collaborative effort to benevolently occupy the Channelsea river in London. Their research seeks to live with, listen with and act with this vital living system, finding new ways to tackle problems of neglect and misuse whilst navigating ancient acts of parliament and institutional backwaters to fight for the protection of this waterway.
