About Edinburgh School of English was founded in 1969 and has gained a reputation as one of the UK’s leading English language schools. Over the years, it has developed a variety of intensive English language courses to suit both adults and young learners. Previously located on the Royal Mile in the Old Town, the school is now located in Queen Street in the heart of the New Town and in the magnificent Georgian building of the Basil Paterson College campus. The programmes for 17 year olds and over, available all year round, are designed for general English purposes, professional English purposes and academic purposes, with preparation for Cambridge and IELTS examinations. Edinburgh School of English also offers language courses during the summer for children and teenagers aged 13-17 years old. These intensive programmes combine our philosophy of learning English in a fun way with a cultural and activity programme that ensures our young learners speak as much as possible during their stay.
