Hi my name is Katy Robinson, Director of Katy Robinson Fitness Fusion Ltd and creator of ‘On Broadway’. We believe every woman deserves to feel confident, allow time for themselves and find something they love to do in order to get fit!Our team of passionate, experienced instructors use top hats, feather boas, canes and songs from all the popular Broadway shows, in local community venues that offer safe, non-judgemental classes for women of all ages, shapes, sizes and those with two left feet. We work with women of all ages who have a passion for dance! Ideally you are mid 40’s through to any age – you are never too old to dance. You may have had previous experience of dancing – be it as a young child going to a dance class or as a teenager doing it more seriously or as an experienced dancer, or you have always wanted to learn to dance but never had the chance. Typically you struggle with finding something you really love doing to keep fit that doesn’t seem like hard work and you may dislike going to the gym and doing the typical aerobic classes. You may feel intimidated in other classes and fear that you lack co-ordination, are un-fit, what if everyone is better than you and what if everyone is younger than you. You would like to improve your confidence, stamina and co-ordination whilst getting fit and having fun and be able to escape into make believe and have a little bit of ‘me’ time each week and meet like-minded women. What separates my ‘On Broadway’ dance classes from other adult dance/fitness classes is my background as a professional dancer, dance and fitness teacher and choreographer, fused with my coaches and I’s infectious enthusiasm, knowledge of musical theatre, passion for dance and fitness, combined with our ability to break down the most complex of choreography. As a result ‘On Broadway’ clients receive a unique dance class that enables you to have fun whilst getting fit doing what you love doing and a chance for you to reveal their ‘inner show girl’ and learn to dance like no one is watching! ‘On Broadway’ classes also incorporate positive mind-set techniques to promote health, happiness and wellbeing. They also include ‘Be Activated’ muscle activation technique to help increase flexibility and optimum muscle function. Making you feel at ease, providing you with a safe space to exercise and allowing you to relax and be yourself, havimg fun with like-minded women and creating a community is our number one priority. I’ve always struggled with my weight and felt body conscious, but this was compounded when I had child number 2, Georgina. I lost my baby weight that I had put on with our first child, Harrison quite quickly and relatively easily. But this was not the case after Georgina. I tried joining a normal gym (this was back in 2008 so there wasn’t quite as much choice as there is now). But it was a horrible experience. I remember the first time I walked in – everyone seemed to know what they were doing. And it felt like everyone just stopped and looked at me as I walked nervously towards the cross -trainer area. (I know now that this was just in my head, but at the time it felt very real) Then on my 3rd visit I bumped into someone that I knew and hadn’t seen for a few years (before I had kids) and even though they were being polite, in my head I felt like they were judging me – as if to say “how did you let yourself get like this”

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is widely acknowledged as the most effective martial art in the world. The Gracie family, from Rio De Janerio, Brazil, are considered the founding fathers of BJJ, having learnt a hybrid form of judo and traditional Ju Jitsu from a travelling Japanese prizefighter, Mitsuyo Maeda, in the early 1900s. The creator of Judo, Jigoro Kano had tasked Maeda with spreading his new sport around the world, and when Maeda left Brazil, the Gracies started their own academy, teaching their modified ‘Gracie’ (Brazilian) Jiu Jitsu. For the next 80 years the Gracie family modified and refined their art, holding public challenge matches to prove the effectiveness of their blend of jiu jitsu. Despite these very public, and often controversial, matches, the art remained largely unknown outside of Brazil. This changed in the 1990s. In 1993 the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was established. This competition pitted various styles of martial arts against each other. Royce Gracie, son of one of the founder of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, dominated the event, beating each of his much-larger and stronger opponents with ease. Royce’s performance in the UFC changed the martial arts world forever: his performance demonstrated that with the correct application of technique and leverage the weaker and smaller man could defeat any adversary. Since 1993 there has been an explosion in the growth of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, with clubs in Los Angeles to Australia, China to Russia. BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU IN BELFAST Closer to home, in the late 1990s Mauricio Gomes, a representative of Gracie Barra and an extended member of the Gracie family, arrived in the British Isles and set up BJJ clubs in London, Birmingham, and Belfast. Gracie Barra Northern Ireland was constituted, and since then the club has grown from strength to strength. Maintaining close ties with its sister clubs across Britain and Ireland, the club has hosted some of the most highly regarded practitioners in history of the art, including Mauricio’s son Roger Gracie (the most successful BJJ competitor of all time), as well as four-time world champion Braulio Estima (IBJJF Hall of Famer and ADCC champion) and his brother Victor Estima (NoGi world champion). In 2011, and with Maurico’s blessing, Braulio Estima awarded Graham Keys his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He was the first person in Northern Ireland, and the third in Ireland, to attain this rank. Under Graham’s tutelage, Gracie Barra Belfast has become Northern Ireland’s most successful Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academies, having produced Irish, British, European and World champions. Recently, and in recognition of the Graham’s expertise, Ulster Rugby approached the club to help with their training and preparation for their up-coming 2014 season. Today, Gracie Barra Northern Ireland is the only official Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu Jitsu club in Northern Ireland, and the largest and most successful BJJ club in Belfast. Everyone is welcome to come and train, at our classes held in a number of locations across Belfast. The club can trace its lineage directly back to the founders of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Leona Creator of Artists Resource & Lead Facilitator Leona created Artists Resource in 2011 with the Mission “To bring people together, to nurture Creativity and facilitate Transformation – for the benefit of the individual and the community.” She started with one small Art club in North London and in just a couple of years had grown to teaching in Schools every day and hosting Art Parties and Classes at the weekend. In 2018-19, Leona has provided Art workshops for the England football team and BAFTA. Leona has a strong background in material processes and techniques, having a degree in Applied Arts and applying that throughout her career. Prior to setting up Artists Resource, Leona worked for a Art & Craft company, managing concession stands in Harrods, Hamleys and UK Trade Fairs and made Mosaic Murals for School Playgrounds with a local Artist. She also worked on the Art Dept for various independent short and feature films. Leona has specialised in Sculpture and Mosaic Art has her own Public Artworks in Mile End (E3), Muswell Hill (N10) and in various public and private sites in London.
