In accordance with the Memorandum and Articles, all Members and Students of the Institute shall in writing undertake to adhere to the following:- (members must note that because an item is not mentioned, it does not mean that it cannot constitute a breach of Ethics). As chiropody/podiatry in the United Kingdom is a legally regulated profession within the scope of the Health Professions Order 2001 (and subsequent amendments) attention is specifically drawn to the provisions of that act and the requirements of the legal entity created for its implementation; the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). The contents of this document should be read in conjunction with the specific legal obligations and requirements placed upon Chiropodists and Podiatrists as registrants of the HCPC. Breaches of such legal requirements would additionally be regarded as breaches of the Institutes own ethical code and be dealt with in the manner laid down for such occurrence. Associates who are not HCPC registrants are still bound by the requirements of ethical, decent and lawful behaviour at all times and are subject to the same sanctions of the Board of Ethics as would apply to a HCPC registrant member. PROFESSIONAL DEFINITION “Chiropody/Podiatry” means the scientific care of the foot and directly related structures of the lower limb in health and disease in line with the best evidential paradigms existing at the time of such care. “Chiropodist/Podiatrist” is a protected professional title recognised in law and may only be used by an individual registered with the HCPC if that practice is within the United Kingdom. It is a criminal offence for such titles to be used by anyone who is not currently so registered even if they possess qualifications which relate to the titles such as diploma, certificates or degrees in chiropody or podiatry or any variation thereof which could be taken to imply they are currently registered as Chiropodists/Podiatrists. Members in practice outside the United Kingdom must comply with any legislation defining titles and their use that are applicable in their country of operation.

Today the Surrey Law Society is the sixth largest in England and Wales with a membership of around 1000 solicitors and is seen as the Surrey Lawyers’ voice. Surrey Law Society was formally incorporated in November 2001. It was a coming together of the three existing Surrey law societies in order to improve economy of administration and provide a far more effective voice for Surrey lawyers when talking both to the Law Society and other professional bodies. Previously the Mid Surrey Law Society had served members in the north of Surrey and London boroughs of Richmond, Kingston, Sutton and parts of Merton, the name deriving from the days when Surrey was everything south of the Thames in Central London. The South East Surrey Law Society was based around Dorking and its environs and similarly the West Surrey Law Society comprised of members in or around Guildford. The amalgamation enabled us to reach parts of the County that the old societies did not reach and increased membership dramatically to its present level. It is now in the top ten local law societies throughout the country, when considering that these include the City of London, Manchester and Birmingham, the Surrey lawyers’ voice is now far more effectively heard in high places. The ‘map’ of the committee as at 27th Nov 2013 identifies the group that currently manages the Society. Originally the presidency rotated around the old three centres of activity but over the years the integration is such that we are now one big happy family, providing not only an effective CPD programme but representatives on just about every legal forum that can be found in the County and several others. One of the main aims of the Society is to get to know fellow lawyers through networking and social events as diverse as beer and skittles evenings, walking weekends, dinners and quizzes. Liaison regularly takes place not only with adjoining societies but also on a national level. Strong and permanent links have also been forged with the University of Law in Guildford itself and Kingston and Surrey Universities where we are happy to sponsor events to assist the students in various ways. We look forward to playing a full role in the legal world and promote the role of Surrey solicitors for a very long time to come.

We are IVE (formerly CapeUK) was established as an incorporated company in April 1997 and registered as a charity in April 1999. Inspired by radical new models of creative education, the company was originally set up as a research and development organisation. CapeUK looked to drill down into the creative process and explore how it might be used to drive improvements in teaching and learning. We became influential in relation to policy development and established a national and international reach in relation to championing creativity and professional learning. We also acted as advisors to Government on the importance of creativity and how it might be developed as a transferable skill. By 2014 we realised there was an opportunity to diversify our work and utilise the learning that 17 years of research and development had provided us. It was clear there was significant appetite beyond the education and cultural sectors for programmes that were aimed at developing the creative capacity and competencies of the workforce, and particularly in leadership. We have therefore spent the last 5 years designing and delivering training that aims to teach creativity as a transferable skill and how to create the right environment for creativity to flourish within the workplace, driving innovation, in a consistent and structured way. We also draw out the leadership and team behaviours that are needed to support this. This programme seeks to inspire young, diverse & talented people from some of our most disadvantaged communities through a range of opportunities designed to develop their own creative potential as future leaders.” We believe that the workplace of the future depends on having individuals that are creative, that are able to adapt, that are resilient and have the range of skills and aptitudes employers are looking for. That’s why, when we deliver our training on an earned income basis, the profit goes back into supporting our charitable programmes for disadvantaged young people. It is therefore a ‘pay it forward’ scheme where all our customers and beneficiaries win.
