Welcome to Counselling Psychology Solutions. We bring together some of the most talented independent practitioners from across Berkshire. We allow you to choose from a level of support that you feel you require at any particular time. The role of the counsellor or life coach is not to ‘treat’ people or try to ‘heal’ them, but to encourage their curiosity about their own beliefs and motivations. We offer clients an invitation to step outside their life story long enough to see that it is only a story, and, of course, to appreciate that those stories can be re-written. Together we will create a space in which new possibilities will emerge. Counselling Psychology Solutions offers more than just psychological therapy. I am invited to speak on BBC Radio Cambridge as a canine expert and can be often heard on Sunday evening giving advice. As a full member of the Canine and Feline Behaviour Association and a Master Trainer with the Guild of Dog Trainers I provide a fully qualified and professional service. As a trauma focused therapist, Raquel established a counseling and consultant practice to help people work through their most challenging experiences and support the professional development of the next generation of future trauma focused clinicians. It's known that experiencing trauma can block the brain's natural way to recover from distressing events. Traumatic experiences often involve a threat to life or safety that can leave one feeling overwhelmed and isolated and can impact the nervous system, resulting in a traumatic stress response. It's essential to utilize healing strategies that focus on the mind and body to heal from a traumatic experience. As such, Raquel trained in both EMDR and Somatic Experiencing® approaches.  Raquel chose to specialize in EMDR, which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing because it has been extensively researched and has demonstrated effectiveness in treating trauma or other distressing life experiences. EMDR therapy is designed to reactivate the natural healing process through alternating eye movements, sounds, or taps. As a SE™ Practitioner in Training, she integrates Somatic Experiencing® techniques into her practice. Somatic Experiencing® is a body-oriented approach to healing trauma and other stress disorders. The SE™ approach releases traumatic shock from the body, which is key to transforming PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma.

Russell MacKechnie-Guire holds a PhD in Equine Biomechanics, graduating from the Royal Veterinary College in 2019. Russell’s thesis was titled ‘The Relationship between Saddle and Rider Kinematics, Equine Locomotion, and Thoracolumbar Pressures in Sports Horses’. Russell is based at Centaur Biomechanics, a company which he founded in 2006. He has extensively researched the effect that tack (saddle, bridle and girth) and the rider has on equine health and performance. Russell holds a post at Hartpury University as a Reader in Equine Biomechanics. Russell’s current area of research is horse-saddle-rider interaction, spinal kinematics in horses when ridden over ground, the effect that rider asymmetry has on equine back movement, and from a rehabilitation perspective, the effect that training aids and pole work exercise has on back movement. In addition, Russell collaborates with researchers on various research projects associated with equine health, rehabilitation and performance. Russell is a consultant for the British Equestrian Federations World Class, Team GBR programme and is a member of Team GBR’s Scientific Advisory Group. Russell also sits on the Society of Master Saddlers Scientific Advisory Group, and is part of the executive committee for the International Task force on Laterality in Sports Horses. Russell is also a Pilates instructor, Intrinsic (Human) Biomechanics Trainer, a BHSI equestrian coach, and a keen competitor in dressage and show jumping.

Professionally and personally I have always been curious about what makes people ‘tick’ and fascinated by the way we all see the world differently. No matter the talent or capability of an individual, the variable nature of their performance and self-belief remained a mystery and I was interested to understand more about this. In my career as a Learning and Development professional, coach, facilitator and consultant I have worked with leaders through to teams at the customer facing end of business. I’ve supported individuals and organisations to overcome challenges and make the most of their unlimited potential. I’ve explored motivational and psychological theories, I’ve studied behavioural preference models and used various tools and techniques. I’ve implemented behavioural frameworks and designed development strategies, all with the purpose of finding that ‘thing’ that would make a sustainable difference to motivation, performance and well-being. In 2012, in my continuing study of human development, I was introduced to an understanding of the mind I’d not been aware of before. Here were scientific principles that explain all human behaviour, performance and motivation – without exception. It turned my view of how we function and experience our world inside out, literally! I realised that I was not up against what I thought and from that moment, without any conscious effort, life just got simpler, easier and lighter.

About Miss Vidler IT Our consultant Rachel Vidler is a qualified Primary school teacher, with a wealth of experience in both teaching and technology. Her teaching and ability to engage and inspire children through the use of technology, has been recognised, with her winning the prestigious Most Inspirational Teacher of the Year 2018 award. Her previous career in primary schools allows her to give support and guidance from all aspects of the profession, as she has been as a teacher, a coach and mentor, a member of senior leadership and a member of the governing body. She holds a first-class BEd (Hons) degree with QTS, alongside her NPQML qualification. Rachel was one of the first teachers to complete the DfE Subject Leader Expert qualification in 2015, working as an SLE for computing across the county. She now supports STEM Learning and the National Centre for Computing Education as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), working with schools across the East Midlands, East of England and East and South Yorkshire. Rachel also works alongside the NCCE nationally, as a Facilitator for their Teach Computing Primary Courses. Rachel proudly supports the Denbigh School Computing Hub working as their Primary Lead for Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire. She works alongside the Hub Lead to support schools in the area, boosting engagement in computing and hosting CPD for teachers.
