I first took up silk painting at the 2001 Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace, when the Fabric Colour Workshop were doing taster sessions. I went with curiosity, and came home with a large frame, some silk, a brush and a box of little bottles of paint! Since then, I have completed my City and Guilds qualification in creative textiles (silk painting), and the "Access to Art & Design" Diploma at the University for Creative Arts in Farnham. I enjoy teaching silk painting and helping each student to achieve their potential. I have written tutorials on aspects of silk painting for Crafts Beautiful Magazine and Creative Crafting Magazine, and contributed three projects to "Craft", which was published by Dorling Kindersley. I appeared (briefly!) on Paul Martin's Handmade Revolution (BBC2), and was interviewed by the Victoria & Albert Museum as part of a project on traditional crafts. I have run silk painting workshops for many local organisations including Watts Gallery, The Lightbox, The West End Centre in Aldershot, Amberley Museum, Woking College, NADFAS, The Embroiderers' Guild, the Guild of Weavers Spinners & Dyers, and the WI. I have also run introductory evening workshops for a number of local businesses, and many private parties. I have also been working in fused glass and ceramics since 2009, and have my own home workshop. I have been on a number of courses at Glasszoo, UCA Farnham, Warm Glass and The Glass Hub, and have also attended workshops at the International Festival of Glass. I have been featured in the Glass Beadmakers UK Magazine and Journal. I am a member of the Guild of Silk Painters. I set up their Surrey Branch in 2005. I have also spent time on the Guild of Silk Painters Executive Committee as their Vice Chairman and, more recently, as their Publicity Officer. My silk painting courses are also listed on craftcourses.com. I produce a range of hand made accessories and homewares from hand painted silk and fused glass, suitable for all occasions. Maiden Lane is a vibrant community centre in Camden. Our users come from Maiden Lane, Agar Grove and St. Pancras Way Estates, Elm Village and Camden Square and some activities attract users from across Camden. The Centre provides services and activities for everyone in our community, catering for a wide range of interests and age groups. The Centre is well-equipped, particularly with computers that are supplied, managed and maintained by Camden Online. Basic computer courses offer free access to the World Wide Web and e-mail. Maiden Lane also provides accredited training and help with job search.

West Central London Fixers bring together volunteer repairers and the community to fix their electronics for free. The idea is to nurture repair culture in the community, rather than throwing away electronics – indeed e-waste has become a huge environmental problem. The events are open to volunteer learner repairers so are educational as well. WCL Fixers currently organise monthly free repair events at the Dalgarno Trust and the Space in North Kensington as well as at the Livat shopping centre in Hammersmith. The idea however is to have three branches: WCL Fixers – North Kensington WCL Fixers – Hammersmith WCL Fixers - Westminster - from April 2023 We are supported by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and the London Borough of Hammersmith Fulham. We work in partnership with the Restart Project. West Central London Fixers also engages in the private repair and recycling of laptops. However, as we do not stock spare parts for all electronics, it may be at times best to seek professional advice. Click on the link to locate your local repair shop. Every child I work with learns a set of coaching skills that they can apply to support them throughout their lives, long after the coaching sessions have ended, even as adults. Dependent on what the child chooses to work on in their sessions there will be a variety of outcomes. From learning to navigate healthy friendships whilst building their confidence and resilience, to better managing feelings of anxiety - no matter the situation - or really exploring who they are and what they want out of their life. Many of my clients embrace the fact that I'm an adult who doesn't exist in their physical lives and so this enables them to be really open and honest about their thoughts and feelings. The programme is taught with a ‘learn by doing’ approach. While, like any UCL Master's degree, a rigorous base of research underlies the programme, the emphasis is on supporting students to develop the skills needed to succeed as CEO and/or co-founder of a high impact, innovative business. Modules are academically testing, requiring a combination of assessments, and reading of key texts. However, all coursework is intended to give students an opportunity to develop a start-up, and most of the teaching is collaborative, experiential and driven by ‘build measure learn’ cycles where students take action, analyse, and reflect on the effects caused by that action, and decide on the next action to take.
